Phones / 5 Easy Ways To Spot A Fake Smartphone by Skycoded(m): 4:59pm On Sep 04, 2017
A major problem that many top phone manufacturers are encountering is the cloning of their brands. This trend continues despite the painstaking efforts to make cloning difficult. Despite this, the counterfeiters are having a field day faking these brands and it has made it hard for users to differentiate between counterfeit and original phones. below are tips for identifying a fake device.

Packaging

Manufacturers of counterfeit products are sometimes careless with packaging. Phone makers will always take care of the smallest details of design and packaging of their own goods. So, take a close look at the package, paying attention to the print quality ensuring consistency. In addition, ensure nothing should be loose inside.

Look at the wires and plugs

The quality of the wire is an important sign of a counterfeit product. If it is original, a plugged-in cable will sit firmly and evenly, while in a fake, you will see loose parts.

Check the user manual

The user manual is one of the easiest ways to identify a fake gadget. Every relevant information about the device must be there in the language of the country of purchase. If it’s written in some other language and you cannot read it, then it is a cloned brand.

Look at the fonts

All fonts and symbols on the gadgets must be similar, readable and regular. If this is not the case, it means the phone is fake or counterfeit.

Pay attention to the material

The material used for making a phone can either be high or low-quality. Popular brands don’t cut back on materials. The plastic covering the phone must be smooth, without any creases.

Culture / 4 Things Most People Don't Know About Africa by Skycoded(m): 4:47pm On Sep 04, 2017
There is so much about Africa that many don’t know, even some of those who are from and live in Africa. Below are 4 things most people don’t know about Africa.

1. Africa is Home to One of the Oldest Universities in the World

The University of Timbuktu is one of the oldest universities in the world, established in 982 CE. After Timbuktu was occupied in the 1591 Battle of Tondibi, the University went into decline and many of the University’s scholars were killed or exiled.

2. The World’s Biggest Frog is Found in Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon

The world’s biggest frog, also called the Goliath Frog or Conraua Goliath, which can grow up to a foot long and weighs up to 8lb, has a small habitat range in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. The number of this species has dwindled over the years because of habitat destruction and its collection for food and pet trade. The frogs have now been classified as an ‘endangered species’.

3. Sudan Has More Than 200 Pyramids, Which is Double the Number Found in Egypt

The Nubian pyramids in Sudan were built by the rulers of the ancient Kushite kingdom. The pyramids are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Approximately 255 pyramids were constructed at the three sites in Nubia (Kerma, Napata and Meroe) over a period of some hundred years. The Meroe pyramids, which were part of the Nubian Kingdom of Kush, are believed to be up to 4,600 years old.

4. Africa is the Only Continent to Extend From the Northern Temperate Zone to the Southern Temperate Zone

Africa is considered the world’s hottest continent and the second driest continent after Australia. It is four times the size of Europe, and its straighter shores means it has a shorter overall coastline.

Romance / Reasons Why Most Men Send Their D*ck Photo To Ladies On Social Media by Skycoded(m): 10:18pm On Sep 03, 2017
If you have ever wondered why some men send photos of their private parts to women, then this is your chance to find out.
Finally, ladies: the answer you’ve long been waiting for.
It was just a matter of time before we took the technology we have at our fingertips and made it all about s*x. I mean, we’re Hot, s*xual beings, so why wouldn’t we?
But while sending our partners Nudde photos seems totally acceptable, the whole “D!ck pic” thing just doesn’t have the same level of respectability. Maybe it’s because dudes on OKCupid think it’s the ideal way to snag a lady friend? I’m not really sure.
We tracked down nine men who were willing to not only admit that they’ve sent a D!ck pic (or two or three or more), but also tell us why, oh why, they do such things. I’ve yet to meet a woman who’s ever said, “And he sent me a D!ck pic and it was awesome!”
But while some of us may not be able to appreciate their, um, manhood, we can at least now start to figure out why the hell they do it.

1. It’s about pride…
“When I used to do it, it was often a mixture of pride and … pride. I only ever rarely did it unsolicited but I’d never gotten a ‘Why did you do that?!’ And I occasionally got a couple of “do that again, please,” responses.
“Now, as an older, rational man, I frown upon unsolicited D!ck pics because it’s just wrong, even if the only reason most men do it is because they hope you’ll show your tits in return. All that said, if a woman asks, it’s a request that should be fulfilled immediately because more often than not, it’s a test.”

2. It’s nice to get a compliment…
“Either I was asked for it or I knew that the person would respond positively. It feels good to have someone compliment your junk or tell you that they want it.”

3. I was hoping to get a photo of them in return…
“I’ve always thought of it as tit for tat. If I send it, even if they don’t ask for it, I assumed it would get me a Nakked picture of them. But I would like to point out that I haven’t tried that since I was 25 or so … so it’s been about five years.”

4. So she knows she gave me an erection…
“It has always been in the middle of some dirty texting and it made sense to share how hard she made me.”

5. I thought it would be an honor for her…
“Let’s pretend I might have considered it in my teens. Those years predate mobile phone cameras (or even digital ones) so honestly, teenage me would have probably considered it an honor for the woman to receive a large oil painting of my trouser business.”

6. It’s usually after I’ve been drinking…
“I can’t answer this because I don’t know why I’ve done it. It’s usually after I’ve been drinking and for some reason it just makes sense. The next morning I always realize it was a stupid and childish move but it doesn’t stop me from doing it again when I’ve had too much to drink.”

7. I was asked for it…
“Because I’ve been asked. Plain and simple. If someone I’m into wants a picture of my D!ck, then why wouldn’t I oblige?”

8. I’m just a guy…
“I’ve yet to meet a woman who has said that D!cks are nice to look at it. So maybe subconsciously I’m trying to change that thought with mine? It’s either that or I’m just a guy.”

9. I assume it might be erotic…
“Since it’s erotic for me to get a picture of any part of a woman’s body, I assumed it might be erotic for her, too. But my wife put an end to that after I tried that once when we were still dating. She still makes fun of me for it

Events / 5 Reasons Why You Should Quit Social Media by Skycoded(m): 8:25pm On Jul 22, 2016

In this present 21st century, it will be irrational for anyone to abdicate social media. In fact, if you are not on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram among others, you are very archaic and still leaving in the stone age. Even with the internet penetration, people have increased access to the World Wide Web. But wait a second, have you ever given a thought to quitting social media? Perhaps this is the time as I shares 5 reasons why you should leave social media.

Social Media is a great time waster

Teens spend an average of 9 hours on social media according to research. If you add your total time spent on social media, you will be gobsmacked. What about investing such a time in reading, entrepreneurship and spending good family and friends. The concentration on social media is one of the main contributors to mass failure in national exams.

You won't miss it

For a few days, you will miss surfing Facebook, tweeting, and posting pictures Instagram. But with time and determination to invest your time into other things, you will overcome and no longer miss social media. You will be surprised by the turnaround.simply logging back in. You can start with staying off with a day.

Nothing is private

Many people put their daily activities or life on social media. They are addicted to it that they when they post pictures, they are obsessed with the number of likes they have or retweets. With this age of social media, nothing is private. Leaving social media will preserve and protect your privacy.

It makes you less Happy

Online Trolls simply want to make others feel sad and unhappy. One of the easiest ways to do this is via social media. These trolls are always waiting on the wings to mock users who they feel are vulnerable. Celebrities are more of the victims here. These can make them and other users very unhappy.

You will break your addiction

Addiction to something is difficult to break. It is more complicated with something that is as thrilling and exciting as social media. It will be gradual but you will get there and break the addition by leaving.

Phones / 5 Ways To Avoid Damage To Battery While Charging Your Phone by Skycoded(m): 1:08pm On May 26, 2016
A battery is the most important component of any smartphone. There are some phone batteries that take seconds to charge and at the same time, it takes seconds to drain. This can be very annoying because it limits you the things you can do with your phone like taking selfies, listening to music and watching videos. Therefore, it is important to charge your phone properly in order to prevent the damage of your battery or its quick charge. Here are some tips to prevent the damage of your battery while charging your phone.

Always use the charger that comes with your phone

If you bought a new phone, it is better to always use the charger that came with your phone whenever you want to charge. But if you bought  fairly used, do not just buy any charger. Using any charger to charge your phone can damage your gadget or battery.

Keep your phone cool, dry place

The position you place your battery is important. Do not place it in a hot place for example, where the rays of the sun can reach it. Your battery will drain faster when it is hot. As a caveat, it is better you unplug it when it is hot and always disconnect it whenever it is fully charged.

Don't Calibrate your Battery

Calibrating your battery means that you want your android phone to properly report the percentage charge of your device. Many phone users calibrate their phones when it moves from nearly full to nearly empty. Notwithstanding, you do not need to calibrate your battery. It is either you replace your battery or use it like that. If you rely on calibration to boost your battery, it can destroy your battery and device.

Intermittent charging

Rather than charging your phone at a go, it is better to charge it intermittently throughout the day. That means charge only charge your phone when it is under 50% and not expressly allowing it to charge.

Keep your device half full

Your phone do not need to charge 100% before you remove it. To make your battery last longer, always keep it charged above 50%.

Politics / Chibok Girls Constantly On Buhari’s Mind – Osinbajo by Skycoded(m): 6:08am On Apr 14, 2016
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday cautioned against cynicism and hopelessness about the recovery of the 217 Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram.

According to him, their recovery is uppermost in the mind of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He spoke at a one-day Roundtable on Vulnerable People in Insurgency and other conflicts in Nigeria, organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

He said: “At any security council meeting that I have attended, the President in particular has always been concerned about the question of Chibok girls in particular. Of course it comes out of ensuring that apart from the international importance attached to it, he reflects on the abduction as if any of the girls is one of his own”.

National Security Adviser Maj.-Gen. Babagana Moguno also said: “Government is also committed to locating the whereabouts of the Chibok girls with a view to rescuing them. The issue has been at the top of the agenda during national council meetings. Moreover, the security agencies have stepped up their search and rescue activities. For instance, in the last one month over 3000 hostages have been rescued by the armed forces in their counter-insurgency operations in the North East,” he said.

Others at the event include Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau (rtd), the Executive Secretary, Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), Air Commodore Yusuf Anas (rtd), representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), and Ambassadors of US, UK and France among others.

Describing as significant the day set aside to mark the anniversary of the kidnap of 217 Chibok girls in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists, Vice President Osinbajo said: “It brings to fore some critical issues on the handling of the plight of vulnerable people notably the abduction of Chibok girls and the killings of Buni Yadi boys as well as the recent kidnap of three girls in Ikorodu, Lagos in a non-confict area”.

Osinbajo expressed government’s appreciation to local NGOs, CSOs and international partners and sought their continued collaboration and assistance in further addressing issues around the wellbeing of victims and the task of rebuilding the North East areas affected by insurgency.

According to him: “Interconnectivity of many issues like poverty, corruption and lack of education exposes the fact of vulnerability especially of women and girls in our society”, emphasizing that “the question of poverty and how poverty generally as an overarching issue exposes state system and institutions of state and make them impossible to solve most problems without addressing the fundamental questions first.

“There is a sense in which we must pay attention to how we design government programmes, how we plan budgets, so that we take into account the great poverty of our people”, he said.

He said that is why the Federal Government voted N500 billion in this year’s budget for five different social intervention programmes including conditional cash transfer to the poorest.

Osinbajo said the present level of systemic corruption in the country has made it difficult to deliver service to the people because funds meant for infrastructure and social upliftment of the people are diverted.

He said the society has to deal with the corruption saying “I believe we must deal with corruption, it is at the heart of what has gone wrong in this society. We must deal with not only individuals, but with corruption in a systemic fashion”, he said.

At the Roundtable, one of the female survivors of the Buni Yadi attack in Yobe State, Fatima Alhassan, also spoke about what happened the day Boko Haram attacked the school.

Minister of the Environment and Moderator of the programme, Mrs. Amina Mohammed, said: “It will never be enough until the girls come back. As a mother of four, I am hopeful that the girls will be rescued.”

The NSA added that the purpose of the roundtable was to discuss the plight of the most vulnerable citizens, devise preventive measures to avoid conflicts and find ways to mitigate the suffering of victims during and after conflicts.

Monguno was represented by the Special Adviser on Economic Intelligence (ONSA), Mr. Remi Oyewunmi, who added: “No other issue in Nigeria’s recent history has exposed the country to the international spotlight as the abduction of the Chibok girls, prompting righteous indignation across the world”.

He said there is massive increase in the use of children as suicide bombers by the Boko Haram terrorists.

“Like the rest of the world, the most vulnerable people during conflicts in Nigeria are usually women and children as exemplified by their preponderance  among the teeming mass of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), particularly in the North East, victimes of the Boko Haram insurgency. According to reports by security agencies, there has been an increase in the use of children as suicide bombers.”

Science/Technology / Four Places Where You Should Not Keep Your Phone by Skycoded(m): 5:33am On Apr 14, 2016
Your phone is a valuable asset and losing it or getting it damaged can cost you a lot of money and emotional stress. If you do not want to experience any of this, We points out places you should never leave your phone.

In the sun

Many people know that they should not just drop their phones in the sun but some others have inadvertently left it in the sun while washing or working outside their home. Extreme heat or cold are not good for electronical appliances. So keep it away from harmful weather to extend its lifespan.

Your back pocket

Carrying your phone in your back pocket is not a good idea. Many people have damaged their phones, especially the screen, just by forgetting their phones in their pockets. Besides the physical damage, the phone may overheat and is susceptible to theft there.

Bottom of a bag

As a regular traveler, you may have had to live through the experience of having your phone go missing and as a result adopted the precautionary measure of hiding it at the bottom of a bag. While doing this has its perks, it can begin to malfunction due to the heat or pressure from moving the bag from place to place. Your best bet would be to use an inner side-pocket in the bag or under the first few layers of items within it.

In proximity to a cooker

In an attempt not to miss a call, it usual practice to keep your phone close to you even when cooking. This can be very risky as it could result in a fire outbreak. Make it a habit to place your phone far from the fire and increase the volume of your ringtone so that you can hear the call wherever you are.

Business / Economic Downturn Is No Cause For Alarm - Dangote by Skycoded(m): 2:03pm On Apr 02, 2016

Chairman of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has said that the current economic situation in the country is no cause for alarm.

The foremost industrialist indicated that he is of the opinion that the current state of the economy is more of a blessing, as it would create an enabling environment for economic diversification.

“If we don’t diversify the economy now, then we would never do it,” he said.

“I think people are under estimating the economy of Nigeria. They just go and look at foreign exchange and concluded that, because price of oil has gone down, it means that everything has gone out of the window. That is not correct, in some areas, yes, depending on your business. Sometimes, crisis is also an opportunity, so you use it very well so that the crisis should not happen to you.

“I think the one quick policy, which is what we have been talking about is diversification of the economy. This is the right moment. I know in Nigeria, once the oil price goes up to $80, nobody will diversify, we would go back to our misbehaviour.

“Government should be very specific and come out with clear policy that we would support. And the implementation has to be monitored. If we don’t do it now, we would never do it. Nigerian firms should learn to export Nigerian goods that can be very competitive. We don’t have to export goods from here to East Africa. We have 15 countries in the ECOWAS region, which are duty-free.

“At the moment, most of the companies are not geared up for export which I think is a big mistake because when you have more volume, you can make more money and become more competitive. The scenario of export is that if I meet up with my domestic market, I can actually take the excess and dump it in another country. It will give me much more profit. The issue is about capacity. If you have it fine.”
