If NNPC fixed the refineries and they are functional are we going still going to be having this conversation of monopoly? Be civil with your post Learn to tackle without direct pun |

kedeojo: It will affect everybody positively if his refinery started fully. A reduced price on petrol will have cost of food reduced as well. Dangote is a blessing to Nigeria. Some of those oil marketers were given licenses to build refinery over twenty years ago, they didn't build because it is very lucrative to get subsidy from government and refined back to the country. Mangal cement in kogi state has just open for business and it cost the owner 1.5b dollars to build, BUA has also do ground breaking again in a town in my local government, last week. Ososo in Akoko Edo and that town host the now defunct guilder utimate search. We have huge deposit of limestone which is the majorly components of cement production. No Edo rich man could muster the courage to build a cement factory. All the governors we have had since 1999 were visionless. Reduce price? i surely can't vouch for that, common Man has loan's to service @bolded Hmm 🤔🤔🤔🤔 |

Or maybe monopoly has a new meaning. Those guys might be evil Please don't try to make Dangote a knight in shining armor here, every business Man is after profits (understood) but people like Dangote comes, see and conquer and then makes it his bitch and makes sure it's hard for anyone to make challenges. |

NaijaCrusader: . It will ease pressure on the Naira definitely, but in Nigeria, everything that means well for the common Man seems to always become jeopardy in disguise. Dangote as a business man, always have a way to get soft spots and curry unlimited favors from each successive government, won't even want competition and will definitely try to swallow the smaller players and then even when your foreign reserves start getting fat, be ready to pay over your strength for petroleum products. |

frog12: Dangote Refinery’s AGO presently has sulphur content exceeding 700/ppm in accordance with waiver granted by the NMDPRA. This far exceeds the average of 50/ppm sulphur required for AGO imports by marketers, yet the regulator has restricted all other downstream operators from sourcing this product exclusively from the Dangote Refinery:
wetin these people wan do? they wan kill us just become of one refinery?
This is a clear adoption of Dangote Oil Refinery as the sole supplier of AGO to the nation. This situation is detrimental not only to the downstream operators but the nation at large. It deprives Nigerians of cheaper options as the Dangote Refinery always has the final say and dictate prices without any competing alternatives:
i tell one person dis na monopoly, the man say no. no be him be dis. everyone dey complain. nnpc should be blamed. Gbam |

Starpro87: Exactly my thought. Dangote should have just focused only on refining and large-volumes-supplies with vessels without incorporating low volume trucks supply. His refinery also has tank-to-trucks loading facilities with over 90 loading arms. This is enough to accuse him of monopolistic tendencies. Am glad you can see one of the reasons, it's glaring |
Politics › Re: DAPPMAN Petitions Tinubu Over Dangote Refinery’s ‘Monopolistic’ Tendencies by skywalker240(m): 6:34am On Aug 01, 2024 |
NaijaCrusader: They are wrong corrupt and greedy. Do you know how many companies have licenses to produce or import cement in Nigeria or those that import and produce sugar in Nigeria? Many. Simple economics will usually tell you that a product or company usually controls the market price of almost all commercial products like Coca cola controls the frizzy drinks market, at a point in Nigeria Omo and Bournvita where controlling the detergent and beverage market even crude oil price is controlled by Saudi Arabia, market prices are usually controlled by one with the best quality or highest quantity which is how Dangote controls cement prices in Nigeria. They should stop fighting the man because if not for corruption the man shouldn't have built his refinery in the first place as we already have 3 big national refineries that instead of exporting fuel and raking in much needed foreign currency the gulping billions in salaries and maintainable will producing nothing. Dangote is not our problem corruption is I didn't said Dangote is the problem, but the truth remains that he is not in for the interest of you and I, but for his pocket |

We'll see radical programmes such as National Agricultural Revolution and more than a million graduate youth dispersed to work in those mega farms. He'll have even converted the NYSC into a farming scheme (like Tunde Bakare suggested) rather than the current model where "corpers" are just collecting money for doing nothing. Arostar2023: Maybe you are right, but the oil marketers and their cronies in government are not clean either. Absolutely true But I believe it should be made an all level playing field with competition, Dangote should not just be a sole distributor or whatever, weilding such power will be detrimental to masses over time, not making excuses for those useless marketers and their evil people in government though. |

ShoeGetSize: Just like Nigeria, Uganda also inherited the British Army Ranking Cadre as a result of a shared colonial heritage.
The only Field Marshall Uganda has ever produced was:
“His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular”
Amin essentially promoted himself from Colonel to Field Marshall after staging a military coup to overthrow the sitting President Milton Obote.
Additionally, he officially proclaimed himself as the uncrowned King of Scotland.
Iliteracy is a bad thing The only genuine (merit) Field Marshall Africa ever had, remains Halle Saillasie of Ethiopia |
