elyte89: Now dt ighalo has refused to move,so our number 9ine will b playing in 2nd tier Chinese league equivalent to crown fc osogbo in Nigerian league
Deres too much guarantee from rohr, when oda players are jostling to make a move so as to get am invite to d team, just be say odas sef no play well,if not I won't start hin ahead of strikers playing in premiership, ligue one and co
If we're to be honest, this is very bad. I mean Ighalo playing division 2 in China. But who cares anyway?!
komekn: Back to my long standing proposition, "Better a Killer Lion in a lower league and club than an impotent anonymous mouse in a higher league and club"
What was the long way to go ❓of quality, development, ability with regards to the following players ❓
Dele Alli from MK Dons straight to Tottenham and England first team The rest is history.
Ademola Lookman straight to Everton from league one Charlton Athletic and outstanding player in Bundesliga, Everton rejected an official near £30 million bid from RB Liepzig. Currently wanted by AC Milan official bid not speculation.
Calvert Lewin Everton player from Sheffield United league one club. England U21 international, the rest is now history.
Mason Holdgate from league one Barnsley to Everton first team as an 18 year old.
Slightly different but arguably England best Defender Gomez at Liverpool left Charlton Athletic Championship team straight into Liverpool's first team as a RB he was 18 years old.
I could give many many more examples.
Don't you think the question you raise is very premature and of no relevance, look at what you are saying, "his game is not world class yet" does that make sense to you In the history of the SE how many world class players have we actually had. We certainly do not have any right now.
In summary what you have said, is a proposition without any substance whatsoever.
Asides the few players you mentioned up there, there are yet thousands that fizzled out and couldn't cut it. Get real, man.
krattoss: in laliga,we all know the champions even before the league kick starts. But in EPL there are almost 5-6 competitors in the league. Bar any magic from the mid table teams(Leicester-like)
Forget that Nigga. Hasn't he been shouting ManCity will win the league from matchday 1? As if the English Premier League is the same as the shitty 2 horse race of Spain where you'll just sit down and predict the winner. Using the standard of lead to just gold.
komekn: Who among our current striker is actually better than him, currently one of the hottest young prospects in English football.
Rejected multiple offers to EPL clubs and chose Bordeaux.
So exactly what ROUGH EDGES are you SMOOTHENING ❓ ❓
Oh please Komekn, his game is not world class yet, he's just come from third tier football. There's yet a long way to go for the lad. Allow the boy develop.
Icon4s: Well, I seem to have found a co-apostle of Rohr's conservatism.
Believe it or not, it is this Rohr's conservative approach which also reflects on his players selection and game management that have earned us easy qualifications. A coach is supposed to know when to come all out and also when to go conservative. Of all our Indegenous coaches the one closest to Rohr in terms of approach was late Amodu Shuaibu. Amodu's game plan was "even if u don't win don't lose". He twice qualified Nigeria for the WC from very pittyful positions.
Rohr may not be much gifted tactically but still he has been able to achieve results mostly through man management and also game management. I have once clamored for the NFF to employ a tactician as they did for Westerhof. And I will still clamor for it again.
As per the 2022WC I don't want to stick out my neck yet as per expectations. I would like to see this team play in this year's AFCON first. And then the WC qualifiers before the 2021 AFCON and so on. I so much pray for the Success of our 2019 U20 and 2020 Olympics teams. They are part of the players that we will be looking up to come 2022.
bobobooge: I am glad you have commented from an unbiased angle. I love that.
That Rohr factor is what they have denied or tried to water down.
According to thegoodjoe,
"Rohr is getting more praise than he deserves"
That sounds like a travesty.
Because we all know our story before Rohr came in.
They have even gone ahead and criticized his style of game.
They said Libya and SA shit on us
These to me are arguments I cannot leave to fly without countering.
Rohr so far has one of the best records qualifying us for the WC and AFCON.
Today we can boast of beating top African teams by margins of 3-0 or 4-0. Just a while back many of us would not dream of this.
I am one of the ardent supporters of Rohr's conservative approaches I.e vs SA.
We have seen adventurous coaches I.e Siasia throw away qualifications (2012) because they do not know how to be conservative when necessary.
Rohr's conservative approach has built us into a massive defensive machine. One of our problems in recent past. Rohr's team even work on defending set pieces.
I dare way we are on the right track with Rohr and the team he is building will be a tough but to crack come 2022.
I needed to sound the alarm because of the recent trends here.
1. Relentlessly posting players from backwater leagues. Someone even posted a player from an Egyptian league and argued they are stronger than many good leagues in Europe.
2. Castigating quality additions due to unfounded PRIDE. Many of the people who regularly post players from backwater leagues still went ahead and castigated the welcome back of Victor Moses.
Not in anyway berating players from obscure leagues. But perhaps they should only be good enough for our team C or team D
We need to start gunning for Glory 2022! And stop faulting the NFF or Rohr for trying to woo these players e.g Tammy. This is business. When we woo a player he has the freedom to reject or accept. But we try as much as possible to make them accept.
#Glory 2022! #WC on an African soil, Nigeria!
The bolded is the take home meal of that your quote. While I'm not holding brief for Tammy's reaction, the bolded is something many, many, many here will never understand. Komekn always echoes almost the same thing here: We should always try to look at things with little or no prejudice: DISPASSIONATELY.
TheGoodJoe: [s]The growth in talent of the squad has nothing to do with Rohr but the growth from the last two U17 we won, the growth of academies in the country and the exposure of our local agents. Before Rohr took over, Salisu called a fairly strong squad too. Under Keshi, we did not have the talents available.[/s]
charlesemeka85: if i talk them go say i am urging the nff and rohr to go and beg them. our best centre half finds it difficult to get game time in lonely brighton. that should be a cause for us to get worried. the central defense position if the leanest in the current super eagles set up. imagine ekong and balogun gets injured, the only decent centre back we can call on is resurgent omeruo. the likes of ajayi and awaziem can they soak up big game pressure?
You're over correct.
Awaziem hasn't been getting games. I don't know if Ajayi is on that level. I think the pool of defenders needs to be expanded so we won't be taking players to competitions "just because they're the ones available". We'll take players who are actually decent and are getting games. One of those German boys is doing very well now.
