I have come to understand that anti Biafran sentiments amongst Biafra hating Igbos and Biafran hating non Igbo Easterners thrive on ignorance.

Usually from ignorance induced stories handed down to them by parents or outright lies their parents for whatever reasons best known to them decided to hand down to them.

I have even heard an Efik accuse Igbos of re naming Calabar to New Onitsha during the war and imposing Igbo administrators on Efik people, he swore his parents told him so.

When I asked him for written evidence of such events, he had none, but he was angry and accused me of being a typical arrogant Igbo man for telling him point blank that his father was liar.

It was ok for him to level lies against my forerunners but not Ok for me to point out that his father lied to him.

Only lies. Lies lies lies. I'm tired of all this. That boy's father lied to him. Such a pity.

Asaba people will never stay in Nigeria if Biafra secedes. Edo people pointed out Igbos hiding in Asaba homes,to the federal troops after the war started. Murtala Mohammad summarily massacred Asaba people for hiding their fellow Igbos. Obong Victor Attah d former Governor of Akwa Ibom state is on point and absolutely correct for saying Biafra is purely and strictly Igbo Agenda. I agree with him absolutely.

Ojukwu ran away when it was clear he has lost the war and handed over to effiong to die. Effiong as a sharp man, knowing fully well Biafra is an igbo agenda and not efik agenda surrender sharply to Obasanjo on behalf of Federal Govt. Effiong never had a choice than to fight alongside Biafra being a millitary officer under ojukwu. He has no choice. Any attempt to refuse to Join Biafra would have resulted in him being Executed. We all know Ojukwu Executed people who refuse to join the war or Support Biafra.

IPOB using Phillip Effiong as a proof that people of Efik ethnic nationality was part of Biafra is highly flawed. Phillip Effiong only obeyed the order of his superior as a soldier. He was just doing his job and not representing d good and peace loving people of Efik ethnic nationalities.

saying Biafra is only for Igbo people

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has
insisted that Biafra is not just an Igbo project but
covers all the region in the south east and south
south region.
IPOB made this assertion in response to a
statement credited to Victor Obong Attah who
said Biafra was an Igbo project and called for a
restructuring of the country which he said would
put an end to the agitation.
The former governor of Akwa Ibom in an
interview with Vanguard had said that the Igbos
needed the rest of Nigeria to grow and vice versa
and that the Igbos cannot confine themselves to
their land-locked Igbo states.

However, IPOB has described the statement
made by Attah as clueless and wondered if he
was born during the Biafra civil war.
In a statement signed by Dr Clifford Iroanya and
Mr. Emma Mmezu who are the spokesperson of
the group, they said the role played by Philip
Effiong in the agitation for an independent Biafra.
IPOB described some Biafra elders as clueless
and cited the former governor as one of them for
failing to acknowledge that the entire south east
and south south made up Biafra.
The statement read: “Some elders in Biafra land
have become the most clueless people in the
world and it rings more true for people who are
supposedly seen as educated like the former
governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah
who last week made an objection against the
statement made by the President Muhammadu
Buhari that Nigeria's unity is not negotiable.
“While we generally applauded Obong Attah on
his response to President Buhari that the unity of
Nigeria is negotiable, we regrettably read few
days later the same man blabbing and saying
Biafra is for the Igbo alone. So, we began to ask
ourselves critical questions about this statement
coming from the man we respected so much.
“We are forced to ask if Obong Victor Attah lack
full knowledge and history about the Biafra civil
war or does he not know who was called
General Philip Effiong, the Biafran second in
command to General Odumegwu Ojukwu, who
happened to come from the same state with him,
Akwa Ibom.

“With due respect , Biafra is not for Igbo alone,
rather, Igbo is one of the tribes that makes up
Biafra. In case you forget the history, His Royal
Highness Chief Frank Opigo Dawai 111,
Amananaowei of Angiama, an elder statesman,
politician, educationist, philanthropist and
graduate in 1953, became the administrator of
Yenegoa Province of Biafra and the
Commissioner for Rural Development in 1967.

“Chief Opigo in a meeting summoned by late
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu suggested the
name “BIAFRA. He gave the name Biafra, after
the Bight of Biafra now Bonny and the rest of the
old Eastern elders in that meeting including
General Odimegwu Ojukwu, adopted the name”.
“As a matter of fact Biafra's historical record
would remain incomplete if this great Ijaw son is
not mentioned or remembered. Sir you also
forgot that as at the time when Ojukwu declared
Biafra, he was Governor of Eastern Region that
includes Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross
River states, Old Rivers and Old Cross Rivers
were already created by Gowon.
“In other words Biafra consists of Abia, Akwa
Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta,
Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers states. Sir your
statement that Biafra is only for the Igbo tribe is
clueless and we wonder if you were not born
before the war.

“Sir, you forgot too soon that Phillip Effiong who
is from Akangkang of Ibiono Ibom in Akwa Ibom
State, a Chief of General Staff and next to the
Head of State General Ojukwu, fought in defense
of his people to the last second of the war,
General Ojukwu handed over power to General
Effiong, leaving for Côte d'Ivoire. Effiong
thereafter became Biafra's new Head of State till
his death.
“Henceforth we are ever united now, more
stronger than before, more determined, we will
never give room and will never tolerate anybody
who will instigate the divide and rule tactics
used on us by our enemies and we will ever
remain fearless before anybody who will stand
as an enemy to the restoration of our dear
country Biafra, and we hope sir that you will not
be one of those people we are talking about”.

Point of correction, yorubas are proud of where they come from unlike you people and we are also proud of our language to the extent of making 'hit' songs outta them.

As for the survival of the fittest, we accommodate you people, we are like the landlords here. There is no survival here because no one is fighting you for a land or place i.e. that clearly belongs to the Yorubas / south west . It doesn't just make sense.

You people are not the only non indigene tribes in Lagos. For crying out loud, Dangote alone employs quite a number of people,the Hausas aren't making noise about it.

Op you have thrown up a very good topic. there few lines that will help to shed more light:
1. The successive government had refused to developed or equipped or even allow other ports in other parts of the country to operate, thereby leaving the ports in Lagos the only options.

2. It's indisputable that over 60% of the importation business in the country is owned by the Igbo.

3. If 1&2 holds true, then Igbo can do without Lagos provided government govt will not tied the fortune of the whole country to one part.
