CrimeParents Storm Lagos School As Gunmen Abduct Teachers, Pupils by slaz(op): 6:05pm On Oct 07, 2016
Six kidnappers led by a woman, says eyewitness

As pupils of Lagos Junior Model College, Igbonla, Epe, were rounding off their assembly on Thursday, five gunmen and a woman invaded the school and abducted six persons.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the six victims were the Vice-Principal, Mr. A.O. Oyesola; the English Language/Civil Education teacher, Mr. Lukman Oyerinde; and four Junior Secondary School 1 pupils.
Two of the pupils were identified as 10-year-old Isaac Adebisi and one Okonkwo.

Our correspondent learnt that five of the abductors, including a woman, had guns, while the last gang member held a cutlass.

They were said to have ordered their victims out of the hall, throwing the morning assembly into disarray as they shot into the air.

The gunmen reportedly wore blue and red clothes, while two of them wore masks. They whisked away their victims through the waterways.

Our correspondent gathered that the school was thrown into confusion when parents stormed the premises to take their children away.

They were, however, prevented from doing so by security operatives.

When PUNCH Metro got to the school at about 3pm, policemen from the Rapid Response Squad, OP MESA soldiers, Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, State Special Anti-Robbery Squad and the local vigilance group were on the premises.

A JSS 1 pupil, who identified himself only as Saheed, said the abductors came through the waterways and entered the school through a gate behind the boys’ hostel, close to the assembly hall.

He said, “We usually do our assembly in a hall. The senior school in the second hall had already dispersed. We were saying the closing prayer when we saw the gunmen. They wore red and blue vests. They shot into the air. Some of us ran inside the bush. The abductors were six persons. They began to shout ‘move, move, move’ as they led our vice-principal, teacher and the four pupils away.”

Our correspondent observed that the school had a low fence compound and was covered with thick bushes.

Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the father of Isaac, one of the abducted pupils, Mr. Oluwafemi Adebisi, said he was hopeful that his son would return home safely.

He said, “Tuesday was my first day in the school. I brought my son on that day when they resumed from the public holiday. The abductors came and disrupted the assembly. Their teachers called the attendance list after the abductors left and he was nowhere to be found. None of the pupils clearly saw him leaving with them because of the tension. The school authorities have met us and assured that they would find the children. I believe God that my son will be found because he is a promised child.”

Our correspondent learnt that the abductors had yet to contact any of the families of the victims.

When PUNCH Metro left the school at about 6pm, soldiers, policemen and the local vigilance group members were observed combing the surrounding bushes.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, said the police were working with other security agencies to rescue the victims.

Owoseni, who visited the school, said, “The police recorded a case of abduction in the school. The vice-principal, a teacher, and six pupils were taken away by gunmen who came in a speedboat.

“The police mobilised to the area and were able to rescue two of the pupils. The rescue mission is ongoing. The Marine Police, helicopters, the navy, and the Department of State Services are all involved in the operation.”

The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, who was also at the school, said four pupils and two teachers were abducted, adding that the state government would coordinate the security agencies to locate the victims.

She said, “It is indeed an unfortunate incident in the 29 years history of the school. Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has directed the security agencies to do their best within the shortest time.

“I want the understanding of the affected parents; they must have faith in the rescue efforts of the agencies. Parents should also be patient and not take their children away. What we had was an incursion and we are dealing with it appropriately. We have all the details of the affected persons and we have spoken with their parents and relations.”

Obasanjo endorsed General Buhari as the man to deliver this nation. I was personally shocked, when I heard the news. This is because, I was expecting Baba to stay at the touch line, and leave Nigerians to study his body language. But the masquerade could not control his dance in the public market. Hence he mistakenly flogged his own mother who is also a trader in the market. Nigerians, I am left with no option than to tell us that, these ex-generals and their boys are up to something. The issue at hand is not all about the presidential seat. But rather, the national cake (oil blocks).
Less I forget, is it not the same Obasanjo who woke up and hand picked his puppet 2011, who eventually grew like Joseph the messiah of Egypt? Is it not the same Obj that told us 2011, that General Buhari is too old to rule this country? Is it not the same Obj that told us Buhari is a dictator? Somebody should have a rethink like me. We must understand the preacher’s language before decoding his message. If Obj can take a swift and prefer General Buhari to Jonathan, a puppet he dedicated his energy and resources to win 2011 election, then as an average Nigerian, we should have a rethink and ask our leaders what is so special in Aso Rock. If leadership is to serve the people, why is it that, the ex-generals finally gang up against their new recruit on account of change? If we’re to outline the sins of Mr.President, are the ex- generals not guilty of such sins? One may ask why is SPEAKER taking a swift? Everybody wants change. But I am astonished the way and manner these ex- general joined the train of change. Is it that, this is the first time they heard the word change? If NO, why did they not change this country when they were given opportunity? Why advocating for change now when the puppet body language shows he Will not renew their oil blocks licence? Why advocating for change now, when the puppet purchased equipment to monitor and reduce vandalism? Why advocating for change now, when the strong headed puppet wiped out their ghost names from the civil service pay roll?
Why advocating for change now, when the puppet sacked your boys as corrupt ministers? Why advocating for change now, when the puppet refused to dump Sambo for another puppet? Why advocating for change when he refused to kill Nigerians indiscriminatel y. But rather he is exploiting all means of dialogue. Unlike your Odi brutal killings and destruction.
Why advocating for change now, when the puppet refused to twist governors hands with EFCC to pave his way like you did? Why advocating for change now, when at 72 years, you still tell your children of 50years they are the leaders of tomorrow? Why advocating for change now, when the puppet refused to give you the fertilizer deal? Why advocating for change now, when the puppet refused to jail your enemies? Why advocating for change now, when the puppet refused to rig election for your daughter? Why advocating for change now, when in your time railways were not working? Why advocating for change, when in your time, our judiciary could not delivered a fair judgement in favour of oppositions? Baba,Nigerians are fed up of you sitting in Otta, deciding their future. We want to decide our destiny with the help of God. We want to practice true democracy by using our votes to decide our future. Let the good works or antecedents of our leaders speak volume for them. Just after the presidential chat with Mr.President, we discovered that, you, your colleagues and errant boys, are spreading false informations to pave your way to aso rock. Lastly, I challenge you Baba, #Tinubu, #Atiku and others to tell Nigerians you don’t have oil blocks or you Generals are not fighting the last battle to protect your oil blocks. They won’t come out and speak my brothers and sisters. They want us to believe they are fighting for us. When they have their own local refineries at their backyards. R..I.P Fela: Animals wan dash me my human right.

PoliticsI No Longer Want Any Position In PDP, Says Metuh by slaz(op): 9:33am On Apr 22, 2016
National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Olisa Metuh, has denied media reports that he was smarting for a fresh mandate ahead of the party’s national convention slated for May 21.
The office of National Organising Secretary has been zoned to the South-East by the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led zoning committee.
But, Metuh, in a press statement yesterday said he would not be presenting himself for any elective office, irrespective of the offices zoned to the South-East.
He said: “As Nigerians are aware, my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is preparing for a National Convention where national officers, who will pilot its affairs in the next four years are expected to emerge.
“As one of the founding members of this party, the longest serving member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and currently a critical player in the party, my supporters and admirers expect me to contest and this has spurred speculations in the media.
“However, I wish to state publicly that I have no ambition to continue as a member of the National Working Committee after the expiration of my current tenure as the National Publicity Secretary, a decision that is enjoying the support of my family.
“I, therefore, with every sense of responsibility, confirm to all members of our great party that I will not run for any position, whatsoever, in the forthcoming national convention, irrespective of which office may be zoned to the South East for that matter.
“What is paramount in my mind, at this point, is to continue to lift the image of our great party during the remaining part of my tenure as the image-maker of PDP, a position, which by the grace of God, I have been able to dutifully deliver to the best of my ability despite daunting challenges.
“Finally, I wish to assure all my associates and supporters that my love and commitment to the party remains unshaken, especially as we work together to build, not only, a strong and virile party, but, also, a prosperous, united and stable nation.”

PoliticsSenate Moves To Save ‘embattled’ Saraki Against CCB by slaz(op): 2:03pm On Apr 18, 2016
Teddy Nwanunobi, Abuja
In an apparent move to save its President, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, from the trial he is currently facing at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), an offshoot of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), the Senate, on Tuesday, commenced the process of amending the Act establishing and regulating the modus operandi of the Bureau.
This was sequel to a Bill sponsored by Senator Peter Nwaboshi and other senators for the actualisation of the plan, which was read for the first time on the floor of the Senate.
The Bill seeks to move the supervision of the CCB from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as a way of ensuring its neutrality, as well as amendments of some of its injurious provisions.
But Nwaboshi, in an interview with Senate correspondents, however, denied that the Bill was not being sponsored in connection with Saraki’s trial.
He explained that it was to ensure the neutrality of the CCB in its operations to save it from being used as a tool for political vendetta.
“We want to save Nigerians from over zealous politicians. The Code of Conduct Tribunal and the Code of Conduct Bureau now is under the Office of the Secretary to the Government. The Secretary to the Government is a politician and can use it as a politician against political opponents or perceived political opponents.
“He oversees the CCB and the CCT, they report to his office. So, since the Supreme Court in their judgment has said that they are a court of some sort, they must be seen to be neutral in nature and to not report to a politician.
“What we intend by the bill it to make it completely neutral, either move it to the judiciary or move it to the National Assembly that has the power to remove the Chairman and members of the tribunal and not to be reporting to a politician and being over-sighted by a politician.
“It should be seen as an independent body, doing its job, we give them what they are entitled to, otherwise, one day like we are seeing now, if you are an enemy to the SGF, he will use the CCB to put you into trouble, charge you there like we are seeing now.
“So, to make it to be really neutral and be independent, we are trying to save Nigerians, any politician could be written to whenever he steps on the toes of the SGF.
“The intent is not because of what is happening it is because we want to save Nigerians, we want Nigerians to see: you cannot put a quasi judicial arm under the control of the SGF, who is a politician, appointed by the President, doing political job, then you put him in charge.
“The CCB said you declare your asset upon assumption of office and when your are leaving office, you declare your asset. Within the time you came to office and the time you are leaving office they must have investigated that your asset, what is left is to investigate the asset declared when leaving office.
“You do not just leave it for 100 years, then all of a sudden, someone wakes up and says: 56 years ago you did not declare your asset, that should not be so. You have been given a time frame to declare at the beginning and at the end, but within the four years, the CCB does not conduct its investigations immediately but takes another 15 years.
“Who says that someone cannot stand up tomorrow when President Buhari leaves office and says that he did not declare his asset at a particular time. The court has said that it made a mistake in Tinubu’s case which means another political party can come up tomorrow and pick up Tinubu.
“Do you now see the patriotism in what I am doing? There should be a time frame, not when you wake up any day, you just slam anybody. I am doing this a s patriotic Nigerian to make sure this body is not used as a political weapon to witch hunt your political opponents or an individual,” he said.
When told that Nigerians may read wrong meanings to the move going by the ongoing trial of the Senate President at the Tribunal, he maintained that he was doing it to save generality of political office holders in the country from unwarranted political persecution in future, despite perception or no perception.
“I would not shy away as a result of what people would say to do what I think is right for the Nigerian people. My duty is to the Nigerian people. We should not leave a sensitive organ like that under the whims and caprices of a politician, who is the SGF. It should be left in the hands of the judiciary or the legislature,” he explained.

Christianity Etc7 Stunning Bible Facts About Bride Price by slaz(op): 7:45am On Apr 16, 2016
For many Africans, the tradition of the bride price payment became a subject of serious controversy. If God specifically gave this law as a condition for marriage, or is it a man-made tradition? Time to find out the truth!
1. Bride price is not a condition for marriage but only as a penalty for rape.
Exodus 22:16-17: “If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife. If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins.”
Deuteronomy 22:28-29: “If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.”
You can still pay the bride price and still be denied the woman to be your wife by her father.
At the same time, if the man has never slept with the woman, there should be no need to pay money for her.
2. There was never ever a place in the Bible where God commanded the bride’s parent to present a price. It is the groom’s responsibility to bring whatever for the lady he wants to marry.
For example, in the Bible was Isaac’s marriage to Rebekah. There was no monetary exchange or penalty between the two families. Affordable gifts were given to Rebekkah’s family by Abraham (but not demanded by Rebekkah’s family). Read Genesis 24:52-54.
3. Bride price, according to the Bible, is all about virgins.
Genesis 24:15-16: “Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.”
4. Payment of monetary bride price is a tradition and not a direct commandment from God.
In some countries like India, a woman actually pays a dowry for the groom and not the other way round.
5. Presenting list or asking for monetary bride price is man made a rule. Therefore, it becomes a sin because it’s better to obey GOD rather than men.
Acts 5:29: “Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings!”

PoliticsHow I Escaped Assassination Attempt - Dakuku Peterside by slaz(op): 11:28pm On Mar 20, 2016
Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), narrowly escaped death on Sunday, March 20 afternoon, after his vehicle was attacked by gunmen in two utility vehicles on his way from the Port Harcourt International Airport, Rivers state.
In a statement issued by Sylvester Asoya, the special assistant on Media to Dr Dakuku, he said: “Peterside, who was in his car with Chief [Dr] Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, Rivers state All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman and Hon. HO Asita, deputy governorship candidate of the APC at the April 2015 election, said they escaped the assassins bullets by a stroke of luck.
“Two Jeeps belonging to Emeka Woke, Governor Nyesom Wike’s Chief of Staff, were carrying two unknown gunmen, who trailed us to UTC Junction and opened fire on my car. Our car however made a detour to first Aba road, then old GRA with the two jeeps still trailing us. We drove to the DSS office to seek refuge and on getting to the gate of the DSS, the unknown gunmen opened fire again at the SSS men on guard.
“The exchange of fire between the DSS men and the assailants lasted for more than 30 minutes. In the course of exchange of fire, my police detail Cpl Emma Esi, was shot at and seriously injured. This is a very ugly experience, but I thank God that my colleagues and I escaped unhurt.
“When the DSS men demobilised the two jeeps, we found out that the man at the back of the car, who was ostensibly identifying us to the assailants is Wike’s Chief of staff, Emeka Woke. He has been arrested by the DSS.
“Today’s experience is not only terrifying, but also shows the parlous state of security in Rivers State. If I can be engaged openly by gunmen for nearly an hour in the heart of Port Harcourt, only God knows the fate that will befall members of our party and those sympathetic to our predicament. What is happening today in our dear state is not only horrible, but also constitutes serious national security risk.”
Peterside who was Wike’s opponent in last year’s governorship election in Rivers State, added that it is now evident that the governor wants to kill him, and that he is prepared to do everything possible to eliminate him.

Recall that there were reports of series of violence and ballots snatching in the elections, although the police said the poll was largely peaceful.

For instance, some thugs were said to have snatched election materials around 2.30pm at three units in WIiyaakara Ward, Khana Local Government Area.

There we also reports in Bori, also in Khana, INEC officials were reportedly scared of stepping out of their offices to conduct the election because of threats from persons wearing fake military uniform.

Meanwhile, the state government has accused the All Progressives Party of colluding with the military to hijack election materials in the state.

Here’s a quote from Donald Trump, a front-line US presidential contender:
“Look at African countries like Nigeria or Kenya for instance, those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries.
From the government to the opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required.
How do you trust even those who have run away to hide here in the United States, hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don’t care because even the internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch it off from this side.

I mean players with commitment, to ensure that we qualify ahead of Egypt. “We will look at the players we believe can help the team, including Vincent Enyeama and Emmanuel Emenike who retired from the team last year. “The coaching crew will sit down and make up the list, and the Egyptians must fall as far as we are now in charge.”
