BusinessRe: Does Anyone Have Experience Securing Funding For A Startup? by Slimani(m): 9:33pm On Jun 18, 2025
ruffhandu:
You are right. But also, one can get investment from an investor with very large risk apetite.
Yes. But most investors with large risk appetite always require startups to have an element of social change in their product.

That is, they'll be more willing to provide angel capital if the startup product has the potential to bring large scale change to a local community, cultural group, or country.

So, ask yourself if your startup idea focuses on community impact and if your business mission is strong enough to inspire angel investors to rally around your company.

Some social startup focus areas:
- climate change
- regenerative medicine
- policy making
- social / economic equality

Some ideas need money to take off bro. If the founder cannot bootstrap, then he needs some sort of support. It may be in the form of early co-founder who has no interest in the product. But, there still exist some agencies that give founders pre-funding financial support to build MVPs, either government or NGOs, they exist.
That's why I said what you may need is a grant rather than an investment.
BusinessRe: How I Started Palm Oil Dropshipping Business by Slimani(m): 4:18pm On Jun 17, 2025
Ikeoriko:
Yes it is a lucrative business.
As for payment, it is pay before delivery, because I source from the market women and not vendors.

And as for containers, nobody sells oil with container. It is either you waybill your container to me or you send me money to buy for you.
How much is the cost of 25 liters oil together with the container cost? And what is your minimum purchase order? Also, how do you handle customer trust issue since you prefer getting paid before delivery?
BusinessRe: Does Anyone Have Experience Securing Funding For A Startup? by Slimani(m): 12:45pm On Jun 17, 2025
ruffhandu:
Yeah, the idea has not taken off yet so MVP is not ready (funding is needed to handle that). Most of them need numbers to look at, the only number they can get now are assumed numbers.
No serious investor will invest in a startup idea that has not been validated. Just try and build the simplest version of the product (even if it's on wordpress or WhatsApp) and market it to target customers. If you can get at least 1000 people to pay you, then you'll have an investable business.

Otherwise, what you may need is a grant not a startup investment.
BusinessRe: How I Started Palm Oil Dropshipping Business by Slimani(m): 12:33pm On Jun 17, 2025
Ikeoriko:
One day I was in bed and my phone rang. It was my brother living in Abuja. He called to tell me to inquire how much 25 litres of palm oil is in Enugu Ezike located in Enugu state.

There is a popular market for selling palm oil there called EKE OZZI. That very day was Eke day, because the market opens only in Eke day.

So I rolled out of bed and went to the market to enquire about the price. That day 25 litres of palm oil was 50 thousand naira. But while I was moving round the market to enquire about price, an idea struck me:"why not take a picture of the palm oil and the people at the market. And I took pictures.

When I came back home I called my brother and told him the price. He said I will buy it for him the next Eke Ozzi market. So I ended the call.

But later that evening, I decided to post those pictures on Facebook. I wrote about how I went to the market and how much palm oil cost. And boom that was how the magic started. I received countless messages asking me if I can supply palm oil in so so and so places.

That was how I thought of starting a Palm oil dropshipping business. It wasn't the initial plan but fate has a way of directing ones footsteps. I would say I have made it big time, but I must say I am grateful with the level of achievement I have made so far.

I give glory to God that I do receive orders time to time and I am happy for it. This is how insignificant act can bring someone an open door. And I will say I am a living example.
Is this business lucrative?

Also, how do you handle payments? Is it pay on delivery or payment before delivery?

And do buyers pay for the containers the oil come with? Or they buy them together with the containers?

Hello,
Is there anyone here who has had experience securing funding for a startup? Whether from Nigeria or from abroad, whether in Nigeria or abroad?
Please let me know. i really need to get some info.
Try pitching your startup to Microtraction. They invest in new startups that have validated their ideas in the market and has at least an MVP. You can Google the name and then take it from there.

BusinessRe: With 500k, Which Business Can Guarantee 20k Daily by Slimani(m): 10:31pm On Jun 15, 2025

With 500.000 I don't care the nature of the business, provided I can make 20.000 daily profit from it, with my capital still intact.any such business ideas please share.
Legal or illegal.dirty or clean all ideas are welcome.
Start a barbing salon in a residential area if you have the skill or hire a barber and share revenue.

Another good business is fuel black market. Most of them sell for 1,200 per liter, which is a 25% profit. So, you can make 25k from reselling fuel of 100k.

To be successful in any of these businesses, you must locate them in busy areas with good foot traffic or reasonable commercial activity.

Please naira landers, I saw this coins 3 pieces in ok clothes.
How much is it please
This is the flip side of the coins
Don't rush to sell it.

Find a professional goldsmith to appraise it for you. Many of these older coins carry significant constituents of gold and silver, which means that sometimes the intrinsic value of the coin might be higher than the numerical value written on it.

More so, most U.S millionaires hold these kinds of coins for their intrinsic value.

https://allure.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/ileri-babalobi/

My name is Ileri Babalobi and I am trying to become the 1st African to visit all 54 African countries without using a plane. In the process,I plan to set 2 Guinness world records and Raise money for the Nigerian Red Cross. I expect to take about 6months. Here's why I'm doing this

I've been backpacking for nearly 10 years now. I have been to all 36 states of Nigeria, and when I lived in Ghana, all the 16 regions there as well as over a dozen African countries. i've been trying to visit all African countries for a long time and I'm finally close to doing it

On the trip I'll be exploring the culture and visiting the Tourist Areas of each place I visit and stream it on YouTube here https://youtube.com/@africatours . I've always been interested in how people in other cultures and places live. Which brings me to why I'm making this trip . ..

1) Im very Pro Nigerian and without being facetious, I've always wanted to do something for her Gratis . I hope to raise a lot of money for the Nigerian Red Cross. The official name of the attempt is Naija to the World and at each Border I'll take a picture with the Nigerian flag.

2 I want to show how people in other countries live
3 I would be promoting the Borderless Africa campaign by Africans Rising, which seeks to remove barriers to migration ( such as expensive visas) among African Nations.
4) it's a Chance to fulfill a life long personal dream .

I'll leave from Lagos in March and I plan to do a daily summary here on nairaland everyday , as well as two YouTube videos of the days adventures.
Advice and tips are welcome

@
This is really interesting. Are you open to other people joining you on this trip?
