Thanks my brother from another mother. I will stick to your advice. I also leanrt I need to add waterproof to the cement mixture. Please, where can I get the waterproof from?

some cement stores do cell them,or you can go to a building matrial market or shop.

Thanks for the compliment. The farm site is at Nkwelle ezunaka, Anambra state.Borehole will be dug, Drainage will be a challenge cos the place is not yet developed. The farm is mine as hubby said o. keep your ideas coming

i m based in Enugu. i have just two questtions for you
1. Does your Engr have experience with pond construction, i.e have he been building for other people? if he has i believe he will knw the best plumbing design for your farm.
2. does you plumber have experience with pond plumbing.my reason is this,their are two differnt ways engrs design their work, the inexperienced put the drain pipe by the side whlie the experienced do underground laying of pipe. my advice now is make sure its underground and dual carriage cos its more effective.thnk you.

My greetings all, we are setting off with concrete pond construction . the first face will be 9 ponds measuring 10*20*4 each. please i really need guidance as to achieve a perfect pond. The gurus in the house how do we go about the plumbing because that will be our major challenge.

This changing water every 7 days sounds so scary.
Reason for changing water is to get rid of the wastes (ammonia, carbondioxide, fish poo, feed wastes etc) and to also provide fresh oxygenated water for the fishes. Using an aerator only oxygenates the water, it doesnt get rid of wastes. Those wastes i mentioned up there can make ur fishes do so poorly. Ur fishes might not die, but they wont do as well as the fishes of someone who changes water regularly or who does flow through and they would most likely be so stunted in growth.
If u are really bent on doing fish farming as a business, u should look into the recirculatory system since regular supply of water and drainage is a major challenge in ur area. Another option is to greatly reduce the number of fishes u want to stock and use a very big pond so that u dont have to change water regulary but even at that, u will still not derive maximum satisfaction in the harvest.

how much will it cost to build a recirculatory system for two 10*10 *3 ponds.tnks

Make it 400 in each pond and avoid excess feed pollution.

The setup is to build a low cost electric or solar
powered aerator
materials needed includes:
1 a centrifugal electric water pump( or more
depending on d size of your pond)
2 two diff sizes of pvc pipe ( one and1/2" and
1"
3 plumbing fittings (determined by the setting of
ur pond)
4 A qualified plumber.
with the above materials you can build a local
aeration system in a pond of 20 * 10*3 feet.
after the setup the pond was aerated wit
sufficient Dissolved Oxygen for the fish and
they fishes were happy.
note: To achieve this you must practice on a
spot feeding to reduce pollution for the 10 days
period before water is changed.
If you are hoping to be a fish farmer but with
no readily available water source OR you are a
farmer with wishing to improve your pond
aeration this is your answer to that.Omega

you will also require two of those ponds, if you can divide the fishes 350 each and change the water every seven days

Bros 10 days interval changing of water and even filling to 1 and half level of pond will not work.. Digging a well will be a better option.

even if i dig a well i ll still need to buy water to fill it especially during the dry season. or shld i reduce it to 7 days.

i intend filling the water to one and 1/2 ft level of the pond. my lamentation focuses on that fat dat i dnt have a borehole which is xpensive in my area so i will be buying water every 10 days nd i also will aerate d pond .pls i need an urgent reply tnkx.
