Sister, follow your heart. If you don't want him, you don't want him. But that is not a good one when you cast such aspersions on him. For crying out loud the fact that you don't like his looks does not mean someone even more endowed than you won't accept him. Finally, don't enter into marriage cos of looks, my dear it fades. Tnx |

lynx200: Thanks for the compliments Slim Vincent. First I am no Nollywood guru, just a regular guy who is helping out. Most times the pay in Lagos is much better in Asaba. The average pay per scene in Lagos is N2000 whereas Asaba pay is much lower (average N1000 per scene) as the producers moved there to cut costs. The only thing is most of the jobs in Asaba hardly sell and this makes it difficult for actors in it to gain recognition. In the east the center is Enugu not Awka and the same thing as happens in Asaba goes on there. The difference is the Enugu boys have a clique thing going where you have to join the various guilds before you can work there. (which is illegal in my opinion and the laws of the land) If you don't they will refuse to give you jobs. Lagos too has its challenges but there are more jobs in Lagos than the other two places combined as most TV/web series and cinema movies are shot here. (The two others do only home videos) I used to have a contact in Asaba but he left along with some others as a result of the poor working conditions which has resulted in very little audition information there. For my advice on how to proceed if you are in Asaba or Enugu and its environs you can start there by going to auditions. If you are in Asaba just head to Zenith hotel and you will get more information there. I am not that familiar with Enugu though. To me the best place to start would be Lagos as that's the center of the Nigerian film making industry. In Lagos you don't have to register with the guild, just go to any of the auditions here and prove yourself. At times you will have to forgo pay to get some more credits. (Just don't make it too much) If possible go to an acting school and get trained. Make sure its one that also produces so that you can get a chance to show your stuff and build connections. Open your eyes to the other opportunities in the film industry like sound, lighting, set design, Make up, wardrobe, production management, scriptwriting etc. Many of those who work in these sectors started out as actors/actresses, found out they were good in these areas and concentrated there. (That was my route to the scriptwriting I do now) They might not be glamorous and publicized as acting but most times they have more job stability and make more money than most actors. Hope this helps you.
Wow...u rily took ur time to write all these? I appreciate mehn.. Tnx a lot. I knw beta nw.
