Thanks... Very direct response.... So this my plan of hustling with The disguise of education might not work o..... Is there a possibility I leave Estonia into another European country and apply for a visa or stay permit there?

Your Estonian visa allows you to stay up to 3months in every 6months in any Schengen member country.

Estonia does everything possible to make sure nobody uses the country as an escape route to other European country. They are very strict about this.

Now temporary resident permit is no longer issued for one calender year. It is now per academic year.

But you can school and hustle at the same time in Estonia.

Thanks all for your contributions.. Been reading this page for hours and it's been helpful..

Please I have certain questions I want to ask.

I have my toefl and I want to apply now for a course, I already did my BSc in Nigeria but I want to do another course again for BSc.. Which courses are tuition free?? And can I defer my studies for one year and hustle there?? Because truthfully that is my main reason for the visa.. I just want to use the premise of education to enter.. So please I need your advice.. Or can I pay for my first semester and then work to train myself throughout the duration of the BSc?

Kindly check University website and Dreamapply website to find tuition free courses.

Every University in Estonia has the obligation to send the names of students who do not fulfill their academic responsibility to the Police and Border Guard. And the Police declares the resident permit issued to the student invalid.

I think the first set of students who apply for visa in Nigeria have the highest chances of success. So try and be among the first.
My advice!

this is were my issue comes......
is it the original result i will notarize or i will first photocopy it and then notarize it and upload.
and as for transcript my school as refuse to give and they said they will send it by them self...in such case how then will i notarize it.

You only notarize photocopy of your certificates. Transcript that is addressed to them and has your school stamp does not need to be notarized.

Please guys I will like to know if an English proficiency test is needed in the admission process? We Nigerians are from an English speaking country.

Most universities in Poland accept "Language of Instruction" letter issued by your previous school.

This is my case,
I have finished my Bsc 2010 but my result is not ready, due to some issues i had with the school.
i took my WAEC in June 2005 and my result is all round "c's",even if i match my WAEC and NECO i have just one "B" grade. I intend applying for Tallinn University,
Please do you think i have a change to be admitted, am applying immediately application resumes January 2018. I am planning to write to the school sending them my result for advice.

Please Help with your Advice.

My advice is that you go sort yourself out with your university in Nigeria and collect your B.Sc. result.

Good day guys,
My question is this: what if I'm offered a scholarship by a university in poland to pursue masters degree. Please would I need a letter from a sponsor? And would the visa be sure since its a scholarship?

You generally still need a sponsor but his bank account balance wouldn't matter much again. The visa is not guaranteed. You only got a scholarship (financial requirement for visa). There are still many other requirements you must meet for the visa.

Hello guys, I have one challenge, I wish to apply for a masters admission in tallin university of technology, hopefully to secure a scholarship
My challenge is about living expenses
1. Do they demand a proof of living expenses and if the do, how much minimum
2.can someone go without any real financial back up and then hustle to pay accommodation

1. Yes. Check Study in Estonia website to see the estimated monthly living expenses. Multiply that amount by 12 months. Try to have at least that amount in your account.

2. No. But you can work when you get there.

Slysite4real, would part time job sustain my PhD? I intend to apply to the university of Tartu. I learnt that PhD students get some form of automatic stipend every month. Is this true? Thanks for your response.

You need funding to get PhD admission. Not personal money.

Please someone should help me with details of life in Estonia. I am planing to come in as a PhD student. University of Tartu particularly. Would I get funding? Can I also work and study? I am a self-sponsored student. I look forward to your advice senior colleagues. Thanks.

(Yes the law allows you to work and study. But you may not have the time to work. For life in Estonia I think Google will be helpful. Check also Study in Estonia website and Research in Estonia website. Also University of Tartu has info for international researchers and their families).

All PhD in Estonia are without tuition fees. But other costs relating to the project such as lab, field work, workshop and conferences, article publication, health insurance and your living expenses need to be cared for. Hence the need for PhD funding.

Supervisors in Estonia get PhD funding by way of competition. They write a research proposal and submit to the evaluation committee of their University for evaluation (Around March every year). If their project is selected then it will be funded by the government (it means the student who will carry out the project will be paid salary every month). Some Departments have around 2-4 funding slots each year. But usually these supervisors already have students whom they believe are qualified for the PhD project. For example their project students at M.Sc. level who are ready to take up a PhD. In fact the supervisor and the potential student sits down together to design and write the PhD project which they will submit to the evaluation committee. So those students MUST get that PhD position if they are qualified and applies. Usually they won't put such projects up on the website for the public to apply. But I have seen a project that already has a student to take it up being advertised on Dream Apply for admission (it may be an error anyway).

On the other hand, there are also PhD projects with funding advertised without a candidate on hand (very rare I believe). For such projects thousands of people worldwide apply and the best candidate gets it.

Some supervisors consult for companies or belong to some kind of research group that may have funding for PhD projects. So apart from state funded positions, some supervisors on their own have funding.

You can also as a candidate search for funding that will cover your PhD in Estonia. For example PTDF or NDDC scholarship (just saying). If you get funding and find a supervisor (most likely) then you are in for a PhD.

So it is BEST to find yourself a supervisor in Estonia well in advance if you intend to apply for admission. Then discuss with him your research interests. He can thereafter design a project for the both of you. If he happens to already have a project in mind but without any student for it, then you become the potential student for the project. Finding a supervisor FIRST is the surest way to a PhD.

Remember PhD is a serious business. Supervisors want to be sure you can do the job. So be ready to show proof of your research competence. Prepare your motivation letter well. Include a list of relevant publications. Think what area you would like to specialize and pick a few professors who are specialist in those fields and contact them via e-mail. And NEVER spam them with e-mails. Do not copy and paste e-mails to all the professors in the Department. Those guys take coffee together a lot. They will discuss your matter one day and it will be a NO NO.

I hope people will find this guide at least a little helpful.

Goodluck.

Good morning to everyone,

Plz I want to do my MSC in geology at the university of Tartu but I have the following question

1) is masters degree in university of Tartu a full scholarship?

2)how will I go about the application process?

3) the study language I saw on the site is Estonian, is there a way I can convert it to English

I will really appreciate ur response thanks

Qst 2: It can be so discouraging when people reply you to read previous pages. But there you will find answers to your questions.

Qst. 1: Some courses are free while for others you have to pay. But you can apply for scholarship. Check the course you like on the school's website.

For qst. 3: M.Sc. Geology in the University of Tartu is conducted only in Estonian. But there are plans already to change it to English in the future to get more students. But at the moment it is still in Estonian. Only Ph.D. Geology is conducted in English.

Thanks bro. I will check that too. Too bad most of the airlines I have checked would only let you travel with one luggage/bag less than 25 Kg. Turkish Air gives 1 bag, 30 kg but then its a little expensive.

I flew Stockholm to Lagos by Turkish Air. It was two bags of 25kg each allowed.

But you can buy extra baggage while booking as it is far cheaper than buying it at the airport.

Hi everyone,

It is sad to read that some could not make it to Estonia. Hopefully next year would be another opportunity to try again.

In the meantime you could think of many other options like applying to a local university, starting a trade or farming and learning a skill.

We hope for next admission year to be stress free but we truly do not know how it will be.

Do not put all your hope in Estonia.

Goodluck everyone.

grin my wears and food stuffs as I like staying comfortable anywhere I travel to. The high boots and jackets I bought alone will cover half of the bag. As a typical Nigeria regarding food stuff, hmmm it remain small make I carry pot self grin. I will try and weigh it at home first before going to the airport.

Lol. Nice anyway. But know that those jackets and booths you have will not save you from the winter cold in Estonia. You will buy new ones. And you can buy Naija foods in Tallinn.

Yes bro. Instead of exceeding the weight of the bag to carry then I will split the items and pass it through NIPOST.

you should not exceed 55kg. Most international flights allow up to two 23kg check in baggage and one 9kg carry on. Wetin u wan carry? Na cement?

Please for those already in estonia, how is it like receiving package via post office, do they request extra payments to be made before collecting the package or collect without extra payment?

Cc slysite4real

The post man drops your parcel in your letter box in your house or if the doc cannot enter the letter box, you get an sms to go pick it up at the post office. You do not need to pay.

Hi all,

I totally understand how reluctant we feel to login to this forum to share information and answer questions when we already have been issued our visa. That makes you human!

But before you say goodbye kindly share in details the step by step process you took to get your visa and admission. You may have posted all the steps in piece meal but it is difficult for a beginner to find all the information you posted over time. Just make a long post and that would be a better way to say goodbye.

In a short time you will already not remember some details but your post will serve as your reference.

Good luck all.

If you are going to India to apply for Estonian visa, you do not need to pay for a return ticket (Nigeria-India-Nigeria). Just pay for one way ticket (Nigeria-India) then you can travel to Estonia from India.

You are right bro but regarding the opening of account, it's possible for UT Students to open a bank account at Swedbank without TRP once you have letter from your department confirming your status.

Regards.

Yes i actually opened mine in that way. I thought it does not apply to degree seeking students. Besides the account comes with some transaction restrictions.
