11Anonymous:You'll need to be using proper unlimited network if you are to flourish in Android development in Nigeria and if you are not living in Lagos, the chances of getting such network is slim or will be too expensive. But it is worth it for the love of development |
11Anonymous:Wow! Nice to hear some one talk about SDK and I miss my Android studio. The frustration of poor network and lack of cheap (truly) unlimited Internet access (in Nigeria) made me focus on other areas. However, there is a part that is not in Google's hand. Android OEMs Vendor update. The vendor partition is the hub for new Android OS update. While Google is working hard to make Android system get more utility from kernel level, OEMs still have to optimize their own (custom) Kernel, firmware, device hardware drivers, sensor tuning and each Android OS upgrade will require a refresh of all the above. You won't blame OEMs too much, some Android hardware manufacturers like MediaTek doesn't give open source after sales development support like Qualcomm does. So, the Android OEMs will just abandon upgrading the phone. The Pixel 6 series Tensor chip is a testament. With it, Google now gives 5 years of support since they have a say in it's designed and development. Since Tensor was built by Samsung, expect them to also increase update support too. |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tDHu4JQ6SI Does Upgrading your Android OS mean better Performance? Well, there are some gray areas to this. Most Android Apps developers do take longer time to optimize there apps for newer Android OS upgrades and this can be confused for bad performance due to system update. But in this Video, we eliminated that option by testing both Android 10 vs Android 11 with optimized apps, focusing on sustained performance and performance with higher temperature. We also looked at the throttling in performance that happens when the phone gets hot and which OS version managed it better. Let me hear form you in the comments if you are here. What do you think? Android 11 over Android 10? |
rapcy:Is it brand new? Even at fairly used, that's a good deal. Grab it immediately |
shedy03:Poco F3 is shipped from abroad. But you may be lucky to fine one or person that have it in Stock in Lagos but don't count on that |
MMempire:I bought from Aliexpress. The phone is not available locally in Nigeria. It has to be ordered. Then the wahala of $100 monthly spend limit on Naira Debit cards is another thing to worry about while ordering it |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DThhU-N7MHw I was quick to point out in this forum about MIUI 12.5.3 global Stable Update on the Poco F3 and how it was bugs-ridden. However, I am here today to tell you that they've got it right with the new update. The Extended RAM for my 8/256GB EU model is 3GB in this new update Making it a total of 11G RAM and heavy 4K video editing is so seamless right now. I highly recommend this update and will still review it in a month's time to see if I'll find a new bug. |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fbi9wX6orcI Good news to all Redmi Phone Users including Xiaomi Mi and Poco users. Most times, Africans using official Xiaomi phones running on MIUI do receive System updates late and like me, I keep checking system updater for new updates but you can skip all that now. How to install Latest MIUI System OTA In All Xiaomi Mi, Redmi And Poco Phone Manually and enjoy the latest MIUI updates once it is released. Links to download latest MIUI for any phone using MIUI is in the video description. |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-q3SyVu7ono Finally, the feature that made me use Telegram more often (Stand-alone Multi-Device features) is now available on WhatsApp. Now you can login into your laptop or PC, turn off your phone and keep it in the house and still be using WhatsApp from the linked devices. But I have one more thing to say to WhatsApp company: Why did it take you this long to make this happen? If you don't have a locked screen, the new Multi-Device Beta will require that you set up one for security purposes. You can also log out any or all of the linked devices from your phone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEVbaBGQTDI While Xiaomi could be prompt with updates to some of their phones, some new updates can come with fresh bugs and that's what has happened with the Poco F3 MIUI global Stable 12.5.3 Update. IT got worse with the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Update that was released for Poco F3 global (alioth_global). The OTA update has been recalled and we are awaiting a quick new update to address the problem. There are so much to love about the new update in terms of performance and animations but in this Video I made a list of my top 5 bugs on the new MIUI 12.5.3 Update on the Poco F3. |
Meister:Especially outside during strong sunlight... Nice observation |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSD7kUmzB5E Let's look at what these Phones have in common. Same Sony IMX582 48MP main camera Same Sony IMX 355 8MP Ultra-Wide Camera Both Phones Running MIUI 12.5 Android 11. The Poco F3 comes with Flagship processor Snapdragon 870 so will it make any difference? The Poco F3 also lacks depth Sensor and depends only on software processing for portrait foreground and background separation. So, who will win this battle?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U641FGZjspU If you are using an Android phone and hasn't tried Google camera A.K.A Gcam then how do I even start to explain that? The latest Gcam 8.3 by BSG For all Android devices is so much better and versatile, we installed it on three different devices and tried it out. The results were awesome especially in low light, none of the stock camera apps came close. The Poco F3, Realme X2 and Redmi Note 10 were all used. They have something in Common - Qualcomm's Snapdragon Processor! So if you are using Techno or Infinix or Any other Android phone with MediaTek Processor, it may not work. It Also requires Android 10 and above. Our tests were carried out on all the three devices Running Android 11. So let me know if you are going to try it. It's simple. Download the Gcam 8.3 apk from the video description and install. And compare with your stock camera app if it works for you.

Solsix:I am not o! When it comes to data all of them are crooks. MTN will suck up your data, Etisalat data is so costly I don't use it anymore. I once had to drag Airtel to NCC only to be told that they (NCC) don't have the tools to measure whether the mb they are giving me is correct. As for Glo, they keep changing their terms and conditions for data promo, it's confusing. Na manage we dey manage all Nigerian GSM network. I follow those who give plenty data for now and not loyal to any |
ambchidodude:That's my biggest concern in the video. We have seen a lot of great ideas die in this country |
Ay92:It uses your data bundles. It turns out that the free they were talking about was watching the content. They don't have enough quality content yet to make me spend data like that. I just hope they start an official unlimited plan for that TV app |
Joezik:Na de dekoko question be. That o! I thought it was going to be free with Glo network. Just doing the review of the app finished my 2GB data |
matrixme:It's really sad! This app has potential to be the Netflix of Africa but I am already afraid it won't. Main reason is - poor customer service. How can there be no single reply on Google play store of all the hundreds of reviews there? How is that even possible? |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qLDOFgJ1t0 Is this the new Netflix for Africa? The potential is there but will Glo keep pushing for the best of content? I like the User interface and the navigation is easy to glide through. There are some features that are not working like subtles, trailers, Audio languages etc. It's still a start so I can cut them the slack. I also explained how to easily sign up for the Glo TV app without hassles. Let me know what you think. Will you use Glo TV? |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv8ZREYhmAQ I've been testing the Vivo V21e for about 3 weeks now and I must say, Vivo did pack in so many features in this Premium midrange phone. AMOLED screen, 33W Quick charger in the box, 44mp Selfie camera capable of recording 4K video, 64mp Main Camera, 8mp Wide Angle and 2mp macro camera. 4000Mah, FM Radio, USB C, 3.5mm jack, wired headset in the box and rubber case. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 720G keeps things flowing smoothly and I was surprised by Vivo's Funtouch Android 11 skin - clean and stock Android-like. When it came to the camera, there are so many features - it's like endless! Selfie Night mode for both video and pictures stood out for me. The dual video recording that can combine both cameras at the back or front and back camera was very impressive. I haven't even said anything about 3GB Extended Random Access Memory - very useful feature that Xiaomi is now bringing to some of its own phones. There is so much in this Video but you have to judge for yourself. I dropped a 4K video recording sample from the front camera towards the end of the video. Check it out and be the judge. Vivo V21e retails around 129k Naira (8GB/128G model) in Ph city so it could be a bit cheaper in Lagos. I will recommend this phone to anyone who loves Selfies and on a midrange budget. What's your thoughts on this? |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g97NnPikCas I've already expressed my love for Poco F3 but there was this widespread Screen Dimming Issue I knew about even before purchasing it. It happens whenever the phone is warm and being used for gaming or camera video recording. My Poco F3 came with MIUI 12.0.4 Android 11 out of the box with updated prompt to MIUI 12.5.3 but I had to hold on from updating so as to test this screen dimming issue. IT turns out to be very true and did interrupted my work. Whenever I was recording 4K video under the sun or gaming indoors. In the video I shared the cause of this Screen Dimming, MIUI 12.5.3 Update and we did put the phone to test to know whether it has been truly resolved. |
Lixusheng:Good deal! HOW about shipping? Make sure that you use at least Aliexpress Standard shipping or better |
hansomb:Depends on where and how much you exchanged dollars for |
Lixusheng:Is the $700+ for the Poco F3 alone? |
shedy03:A very good choice! Performance and screen (120Hz) is Top Android Flagships experience |
sureteeboy:No! Thankfully. However, it was opened by customs but maybe the person that checked didn't know the value. |
olagamalin:Tell me about the bad experience... I ordered this Poco F3 3 times and all problematic. First one - after payment ($400) the Aliexpress app said your order will be shipped in 75 days. I literally went mad. Cancelled the order the following day, waited another 4 days to get my payment processed back into my account. Ordered again and this time, it was 65 days before order will be shipped. Had to cancel again and waited for the money to be processed back. I ordered the 3rd time, it was shipped after two days. A week later I recommended the seller to one naija guy I met on one Aliexpress seller telegram group. He ordered and his order was shipped in 3 days. Tracking was good and in 2 weeks tracking said it has entered destination country and that was the last update. The guy I recommended (lives in Abuja) got his one two weeks after my first tracking updated my package has entered Nigeria. I had to wait another 75 days to be able to open dispute. The seller was nice too. I won the dispute and After one week, I got my money back (for the third time) And I still ordered POCO F3 and again... This fourth one came in. Here is the link to the fourth one store I purchased from: https://a.aliexpress.com/_mtjTNsF Attached is the tracking. NB tracking still says it is still undergoing custom clearance... ![]()

sureteeboy:This country is so annoying! We can't even compete globally. You will have money, see better deals and rubbish restrictions won't let you get it done. I used my dollar account (Domicilary account) Dollar ATM card. That one doesn't have restrictions like Naira debit card. |
sunshineV:Sure! The depreciation of the Naira continues which directly means that the price of things are going up |
sunshineV:Dollar was 485 when I bought it so 177k The 6/128G was $319 the so 154k. |
sunshineV:I got the 8/256GB model $365 on sales. It's normally $399 on Aliexpress and next sales in August 23 2021 |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZYFsh3JBrw I had to order this phone four times before I could get my hands on it. Is it worth all that stress? The short answer is yes. This is the best Android flagship killer of 2021 and there is so much more to discuss about it. 120Hz screen Snapdragon 870 processor Stereo speakers AMOLED screen and lot's more. Will you give the Poco F3 a go? |
