https://youtu.be/F7mkv0_aRpg Well, you won't even know this till you want to watch an interesting movie on Netflix app or Stream on DSTV Now app. There are lots of app that will only work well if your device is certified of Google play store. To check whether your device is certified or not, open Google play store app, tap on the three menu bar at the top left, click on settings and scroll down to the last submenu option. There are many reasons why this happens and if it has happened to your Android device, then this is a permanent fix. skywalker240:The problem with infinix and tecno is that they use cheap MTK (Media Tek) processors and still sell the phones costly in my opinion compared to what's obtainable in China and India for example. If you want the best of Picture in your Android phone, buy Phones with Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors. Depending on the tecno or infinix phone, I may be able find older ones for it but it may not be stable and many functions won't work properly |
sunshineV:Surely I am not comparing Gcam with High-end DSLR Camera but I have already done a comparison with Gcam and Canon EOS 1300D you can see it for yourself. |
bravesoul247:Gcam is an Android Camera App built by Google exclusively for their Google Pixel devices but plenty Android developers have ported to hundreds of other Android devices. The difference between it and the native camera is IMAGE PROCESSING which is more important in camera nowadays than just the Good hardware. Most other Android OEMs haven't put in the amount R& Google put in to their camera app so, if you can find a stable Gcam for your Android phone, it will take better pictures than your native camera |
shedy03:RN7pro is a great device packed with premium Sony IMX686 48Mp sensor for main camera. Just let me know if you are on MIUI China Rom or Global or even custom Rom let me give you one Gcam for a test and you will call the result yourself. |
What is Gcam? Gcam is short for Google Camera App for Android. Years back it was available for all Android but Google pulled it out from the play store (in 2016) because they found an algorithm that gives them a competitive edge over other Android OEMs. From the birth of Google Pixel devices, Gcam just keep getting better and better as you will see in some of the pictures below. Thank God Android is open source which means you can modify codes in some apps or port it to your own device once it is not for commercial use. So developers have ported plenty Google camera ports to tons of Android devices. Is there a working Gcam for my Android phone? Probably yes, it's is straight yes if your device processor is Snapdragon but if it is MTK or Kirin (Huawei/Honor phones) or Exynos (some Samsung phones) then it may be a bit difficult to find. But relax, we got you covered... We've made a video for each or most questions you'll ever ask about Gcam. It is same as the popular WhatsApp Messenger but with special focus on businesses. We broke the news about WhatsApp Business last year when we highlighted some of its extra features. Many people have asked me how they can use two separate WhatsApp account in one phone. I have used Parallel space before and many other similar app to try that but there are bugs. The most annoying of these bugs could be delay in message delivery. All other third-party apps I’ve tried show this bug from time to time. How Does WhatsApp Business come into this I have played around with WhatsApp Business for weeks now and it is a great app. Most people who have asked me about using a second WhatsApp account in their phone own a business. They usually want to use a WhatsApp account separately from their personal account. So I explored WhatsApp Business and found it to be perfect for such a task. It is fast, no delay in delivering messages too. The notification icons are different and very easy to differentiate from the normal WhatsApp. WhatsApp Business icon Two WhatsApp icon Two WhatsApp icon Can WhatsApp Business Get Personal Yes it can! Think of it as a tool for general purposes. Furthermore, you can see it as a separate channel to achieve all your personal WhatsApp account features and more..... Full details here with links and images: https://smartdepot.com.ng/2018/02/05/us-uk-banks-ban-bitcoin-credit-card-purchases/ Banks Ban Bitcoin purchase in the United States and United Kingdom with the use of credit cards fearing it could end in tears. These banks believe that such transactions could in trouble for both customers and banks as well. In the US, Chase, Bank of America and Citigroup have all banned the use of credit cards for Bitcoin purchases, while in the UK the Lloyds group has done the same. The UK ban, reported by Reuters, applies to Lloyds itself, Bank of Scotland, Halifax and MBNA. Banks Ban Bitcoin – The Other Undertones On the peripheral, it looks like these banks are looking out for the best interest of their customers. However, taking a closer look at Bloomberg report that banks have a number of concerns – debt, defaults and the risk of fraud and money-laundering. Allowing purchases of cryptocurrencies can create big headaches for lenders, which can be left on the hook if a borrower bets wrong and can’t repay. There’s also the risk that thieves will abuse cards that were purloined or based on stolen identities, turning them into crypto hoards. Banks also are required by regulators to monitor customer transactions for signs of money laundering — which isn’t as easy once dollars are converted into digital coins. It’s still the same old problem – banks don’t want any form of currency exchange that they cannot control.... Full details with images here: https://smartdepot.com.ng/2018/01/30/stop-using-copy-paste-sensitive-information-smartphone/ Sensitive information ranging from Bank account number to passwords are always the target of hackers. There are many ways such data can be accessed from your smartphone but our focus today is clipboard. This is critical as most of us are not ready to type in passwords always or memorize them hence copy/paste. The problem is, every app in your smartphone can access the clipboard – the temporary storage for everything copied. To make the problem worse, most of these apps that can access the clipboard can do so without your permission. ARE MY SENSITIVE INFORMATION BEING STOLEN That’s a good question, the answer is not simple all the same. Hackers will try to steal it, apps infected with malware or from unknown sources will do same, maybe untrusted genuine app. THE CLIPBOARD ISSUE BECAME CRITICAL FOR US WHEN ELLIOTT ALDERSON ACCUSED ONE PLUS OF SENDING DATA FROM CLIPBOARD TO A SERVER IN CHINA. According to Elliott, “The @OnePlus #clipboard app contains a strange file called badword.txt In these words, we can find: Chairman, Vice President, Deputy Director, Associate Professor, Deputy Heads, General, Private Message, shipping, Address, email…” and many more sensitive. You can see the full thread HERE!. One Plus company has denied that they are not sending any customer data and cannot do such without the user consent..... Glo recently pronounced itself as the grandmaster of data as it offered more than double data packages than it’s rivals. We covered this unbelievable data offer Glo Unfair Data Advantage and questioned it’s sustainability. It seems that it wasn’t sustainable after all. We reached Globacom customer care to get more information on the sudden change but no answer was given. What Happens Now To Globacom Nigeria Unfair Data Advantage. Glo New 50% cut data packages Glo Nigeria does not have the reputation for the best data service in Nigeria however, their unfair data advantage kept them competitive. And I must say, their 4G service in Port Harcourt Nigeria has been superb but the 3G is quite poor. The second part of this new move is the ‘without warning’. Of course, the unfair data advantage is a promo and companies can withdraw it without warning. Nevertheless, the implication could mean glo relinquishing the lead in gsm data sector.... full details with links https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/12/27/top-tech-trends-that-will-define-2018/ 2017 produced some remarkable top tech trends but it also served the marker for an exciting 2018. We saw the Battle of Mobile Ecosystem Supremacy heat up. The internet of things became a stronger thing. Artificial intelligence is upon us all with it’s cousin Augmented Reality. Cryptocurrency took a center stage, making many millionaires (in US dollars). CLOUD Computing? Yeah! We all are now living in ‘cloud 9’ as everything is now synced to the cloud. Cyber security as well was key, great invention still have their disadvantages. It will be unfair not to mention green energy. Born in an oil producing nation, I never knew crude oil will lose relevance in my lifetime. With all these and more, 2017 top tech trends has shown us a glimpse of the future (2018). So, what does the future hold? 2018 Top Tech Trends Will Bring Fierce Competition/Rivary You can take it personal if you want but make no mistake about it, 2018 will be very competitive. Both on corporate and individual level, you have to be prepared to for the worst rivalry – it could get nasty. The basic drive for this competition and rivalry will be expansion, stiffening rivals or opposition. We already talked about how Apple is set to launch it first ever store in South Korea besides Samsung Headquarters. You can read the full story HERE! In 2018 we will see more in several other tech areas like electric cars, 5G network, Artificial intelligence etc. This article basic aim is to prepare you, make you ready for ‘war’ and enhance strategic planning. This fierce competition boils down to everything you’ll plan to do in (in 2018) both personal or corporate goals. THE BASIC RULE TO BE ON TOP OF YOUR GAME IN 2018 WILL BE – ALWAYS FIND AN EXTRA ADVANTAGE THAT DEFILES COMPETITION. This has to be a continuous practice to stay on top. Your rivals will want to do better, the things you did good. Always surprise them with a new cutting edge – the advantage that keeps you ahead! 2018 WILL BRING UNPRECEDENTED COLLABORATIONS/TAKEOVERS Good businesses will be merge with better business. Great businesses will be swallowed up by greater businesses. We have been hearing rumours of Broadcom merging or taking over Qualcomm. In 2018, more of such will happen and as usual, there will be casualties. Some will lose their jobs due to it and some promising inventions could be totally discarded. Full details here: https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/12/16/facebook-pre-roll-video-ads/ Few hours after we praised Facebook for bringing a nice feature Snooze, they announced pre-roll video ads. Pre-roll ads are those adverts that play first before the video you click on to watch starts playing. These ads will last up to six seconds – that’s two more seconds than YouTube. The good thing is, they are going to roll out a test next month (2018). Don’t panic, your News feed won’t be filled up with video ads that you don’t want to see. The pre roll ads will appear in the “Watch” hub as we will explian later. Is this a good move? is this the best timing? How does it work? This article will answer all these question and more. To view the To view the short video clip and more details: https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/12/14/smart-self-driving-buses-are-been-tested/ Smart self-driving buses are now been tested in China. These smart buses have been developed by Shenzhen Bus Group. They have cameras, GPS antennas and LIDAR sensors. These buses have been designed to avoid hitting pedestrian, bypass obstacles and stop at designated stations. During the test, drivers ride on the buses to change the vehicles from self-driving to manual mode in case of an emergency. ARE SELF-DRIVING CARS A THREAT TO HUMAN JOBS This question has to be asked considering that China, the biggest auto producer and consumer is going for self-driving vehicles. These smart vehicles poses a threat of taking over jobs handled by human but should we be concerned? You should be concerned if you are not daily equipping yourself with smart tools and upgrading yourself regularly. We termed 2017 the year of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and 2018 will even bring more AI features and further automations. So yes, you must have a plan to acquire stills that will keep you relevant in the coming years. IS THIS ANOTHER EXPANSION OF MOBILE ECOSYSTEM The battle of Mobile Ecosystem has intensified greatly in 2017 as we explain earlier. Every mobile device (even vehicles) is now a component of a larger mobile ecosystem. The emphasis has shifted from individual device to their various ecosystems. Yeah! Operating Systems have also moved from phones and PC’s to all household electronics, watches and now cars and buses. The question we asked and still asking is this, where does this leave us humans in this ecosystem? WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US First, Enjoy it! Nice to know that my car can take me home when am fully exhausted for the day while I take some nap along the ride. We must embrace AI and automation. That’s where the world is moving to and the earlier we embrace it, the better we utilize it. Be in control! Be the one running the show. AI and automations should be the best assistant not a replacement. We might get to a point where ‘Skynet’ will take over the world maybe in the next millennium. Life is smart and so easy; productivity is maximal too, when we utilize these smart tools properly. Stay relevant! In 2018 more human jobs will be lost due Artificial intelligence and more jobs will be created due to the same AI. Which side are you going to be on? Are your skills still relevant and future proof? The things you are doing today can they be taken over by robots and machines in the near future? Is it not time yet to take a new course or get a skill that is future proof? |
https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/12/13/google-improves-view-saved-password/ The major security concern about Google interconnected Apps is that one saved password can give you access to plenty saved passwords. For some of us who are too lazy to remember all login details and passwords, we give Google that job. It’s so easy, stress free but this is biggest backdoor for you to get hacked. Before now, anyone who have access to your device can look up your google account password(s) from password view once your password have been saved on that device before. They can go ahead and view all your saved password. But Google has changed all that right now! Security wise, Google is good, very good, they re-branded saved passwords to Smart Lock! They just improved the security measured required to view saved password. The problem most times, we do not take enough care to maintain strong security measures at all times. Now Google will not let you use a saved password to login to passwords.google.com, you’ll type it in afresh and you will get an instant email notification once you do. VIEW SAVED PASSWORD ON GOOGLE.COM Google Chrome browser can remember your saved passwords and sync them across all your signed in devices. This means that your saved passwords can be accessed from any other device. Before now, you can access saved passwords once you have logged in before from the device. From the settings, click on saved passwords, select view and manage passwords at passwords.google.com. After the security update, you can no longer view passwords with already saved password – that option has been removed. You must enter the google account password afresh to view all saved passwords. That’s not all! Google will now send you an instant notification anytime your credential is used to login at passwords.google.com SECURE YOUR ACCOUNT First, I don’t advice people to store sensitive password online. But if you do, you must take strict security measures to ensure that all the devices that you signed into your Google account or any other account you used to store password is locked. I know some of us do neglect some mails from google about our accounts but emails about viewed passwords should be taken very seriously. https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/12/12/twitter-official-launches-tweetstorm-twitter-thread/ Tweetstorm or what is now officially call Twitter Thread has been around for some time now as we earlier explained in our Tips and Tricks. Today Twitter has officially launched ‘Thread’ an official feature that allows you to tweetstorm. We’ve already explained tweetstorm in our tips and tricks here but for benefit of doubt we will summarize it again. HOW DOES TWITTER THREAD WORK. It’s simple! Type your tweet messages or thoughts, press the newly added “+” button beside the circular limits indicator (this + button may not be in your twitter right now but don’t worry, it will soon appear) to add a additional new tweet (or thread). You can add many threads after that, press the tweet all button which will now appear on the top and there you go. According to twitter, only 25 threads will be allowed for now. That is a lot considering that each thread can take up to 280 characters now. This new thread feature can allow you edit or to be properly put, update a thread already tweeted. To do so, you’ll write out the new tweet after tapping the “Add another Tweet” button. This lets you continue to update a thread forever. This will be very useful for twitter users who have great reactions to their thread. THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY We’ve been having an argument whether the 280 characters increase has made Twitter more boring? Some people think so bit if you are of that school of thought, the twitter thread will bore you more. How will the new Twitter Thread handle other connected accounts like Facebook or Instagram? We did tried it out on Facebook and it turned out nice. Only the first tweet of the thread appears on connected Full details and more: https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/12/12/twitter-official-launches-tweetstorm-twitter-thread/

https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/11/30/datally-googles-new-app-that-saves-data/ Google has just released a new standalone app Datally designed to help you manage how apps use your data. This app let’s you see how and when apps use your data, which apps are using the most data and the capacity to restrict them. More importantly, there’s a big button at the top of the app that lets you stop all background data usage, so only the app that’s actively onscreen can use mobile data. The very good thing about this app is the size – 4.68Mb which will be nice even on phones with smaller storage. The permissions include calls, sms, location, network and above all usage access permission. Datally is being released as part of Google’s Next Billion Users initiative, which is focused on making Google products more usable in countries that have limited mobile connections and where lower-end hardware remains widespread. That’s why the initiative is focusing on basic features like storage management. Josh Woodward, the product manager overseeing Datally, says the idea for the app came from seeing the lengths that people go to preserve data, particularly in countries where mobile plans remain relatively expensive. In Delhi, Lagos, and Buenos Aires, Woodard said his team saw people who would keep their phone on airplane mode at all times to prevent data usage. When they wanted to check their notifications, they’d turn airplane mode off, let all the info rush in, and then turn airplane mode back on while they looked over the new information. HOW DOES IT WORK See it here https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/11/30/datally-googles-new-app-that-saves-data/

https://smartdepot.com.ng/2017/11/20/5-smart-things-phone-daily/ There are many great stuffs you can do with your phone nowadays. Today, we are bringing you some of the nice stuffs we do with our phones daily. Simple as some of them are, you will be surprised at how effective they can be. We won’t be touching on any thing about SYNCING as we have dealt it HERE and also in CLOUD COMPUTING SMART 1: QUICK CAPTURE OF GREAT IDEAS Ideas rule the world! We all know that, the issue is, they never announce when they are coming. Great ideas also have a usual way of showing up at the wrong place and the wrong time. So, your beloved smartphone comes in handy for this one. Capture notesThere are many ways to capture ideas as they storm your mind. The basic thing is to capture them very fast and there several tools wee have picked out for you. A voice assistant is of great essence here because in some cases, unlocking your phone and opening an app is good enough time to lose the inspiration. Audio capture has proven to be the fastest way to capture ideas among our team. Assuming you are using Android (Google Assistant), “Ok Google, open (name of App you want to use to record)” Siri can do the same for iPhone users, Cortana for Windows Phone users and even Amazon’s Alexa can still do the same. While Audio capture maybe the fastest, it may not be convenient for all occasions or places. Hand – Writing/Typing/Sketching is as good as audio capture in some cases. They can also be called up by voice assistant but depending on the phone that you use, there could be more to write quick notes with. You can also create short cuts for notes. SMART 2: TRACK YOUR FITNESS AND HEALTH We get so busy nowadays that 24 hours won’t just be enough. If you break down, you are definitely not going to be busy anymore. Even if you’re not the type that wear smart watches, several apps like Google Fit can keep track of your steps while you are busy running your day. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU COMPARE YOUR ACTIVITIES WITH YOUR PRODUCTIVITY. THESE APPS SHOWS YOU AT A GLANCE , THE DAYS THAT YOU WALKED AROUND MOST AND YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECKOUT WHAT YOU ACHIEVED DURING SUCH DAYS. SMART 3: MAPS, GPS, LOCATION SHARING Google maps has evolved so much right now, it can do a lot of stuffs. Even the annoying ones of reminding I should be in office once am not after 9am. This happens when you use tags on Google maps but it has some advantages too. If you tag your Home and Work place in maps, you also get traffic updates, faster ways or short cuts to beat the traffic. For some of us who are still old school, gone are the days of writing the address of where you are. Now, it’s just location sharing! Of course, you don’t need to ask anybody which way when the location is accurately shown on the map. Turn on your GPS, map and navigation and you are there. SMART 4: TO DO LIST The traditional calendar in iOS and Android can be used to make some events but when it comes to making smart to do list, they fall short. To live strategically and never forget a thing, you need to add to do list App in your phone. We won’t give out any name as there are plenty of them in your store. Just find the one that suits you most. You can also share lists and activities in most of these apps, automatically recreate bills once they are due, easily make grocery list, all kinds of reminders etc. You should give it a try!
