PhysicsQED: Why are you telling me stuff I already knew?Asante's are Akan... This shows you are not intelligent and know nothing about West Africa. Once again http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akan_people |
PhysicsQED: lol @ this. Most of that is European propaganda. You have to understand the Asante defeated the British... When one is trying to conquer a kingdom you write negative propaganda about it. The fact that you don't understand this shows you are not a historian but, a dumb physics nerd. |
londoner: Have you not read my posts. I think 100%, that Nigerians should divest from Ghana and go back to Nigeria and invest.I agree. |
PhysicsQED: Nothing is permanent. After all, Asante got put in check by a certain state to the east but later improved.Asante was an upstart from other kingdoms if you read... It never fully got up to its potential due to European interfearance. It only arose in 1700 while Akan Kingdoms(of which Asante grew out of) Existed as early as 1100... Once again learn history ![]() |
londoner: Mate....I've been to Ghana......I saw that much of it was just hype. Then have some pride and get out of Ghana and stop crying. ![]() |
PhysicsQED: On the first part in bold, didn't I just tell you that it conquered Dahomey?A weak failed state like Nigeria today which is under attack from Boko Haram and Mend... Its influence in Dahomey was limited and it would seem an Akan kingdom had more influence there since their culture is more Akan in many aspects. Once again the failed state of Oyo was much like Nigeria today. Nothing to write home about... ![]() |
londoner: Lol....... Oh for goodness sake guys. The male ego and its ability to take a thread wwwaaayyyy off on a tangent.exactly why don't Nigerians develop Nigeria! Are they ashamed. ![]() |
PhysicsQED: For the record, I have nothing against the Hausa or the Asante or any group whether Ghanaian or Nigerian. I just don't like the way you went into this spontaneous Hausa-Fulani a$$licking spree because of one comment I made about al boko qaeda haram problems really being northern Nigerian derived problems which they in fact are.You should be worried by your masters who colonized part of your land even if they may have lost one battle or two. ![]() |
PhysicsQED: No.It was a weak state that everyone attacked from all angles. Why could it not push its influence into the heart of any major kingdom. That should tell you something... When one is being attacked it means they are weak. This is one getting close to the heart of what was a failed STATE! |
MsDarkSkin: Nigerians don't come in dark black either? He has an inferiority complex ![]() |
PhysicsQED: You don't see why you're not making sense here?It did not defeat Asante. It prevented Asante from defeating it big difference. Asante pushed its influence to its borders when it was being whipped from all angles. Once again there is no real history of an ambition to get to Nigeria. |
PhysicsQED: lol @ this nonsenseThe events you gave happened in the 1700's the Hausa interaction happened as early as 1500! |
PhysicsQED: The Nupe are Fulanis and Hausas now?I am proving it was a weak state. This is its own backyard! Look at the long distance. If it could not even dominate its immediate neighbors how much more would it have stood a chance at such a distance. You are talking about one battle against an expansionist empire which did not have any ambitions in what is today Nigeria but wanted to consolidate its gains in what is today the Ghana area. https://www.solarnavigator.net/geography/geography_images/West_Africa_map.jpg I don't know why we are on this tangent but, I'm loving it ![]() |
PhysicsQED: lmaoIf you knew history you would know that Asante came out of serveral Akan groups that came before it. A simple read here would get you a good start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akan_people |
Once again: In the late 18th and early 19th centuries Oyo encountered a series of related military, economic and political problems which it had increasing difficulty in solving. There is evidence of a military decline in the late 18th century. Oyo suffered defeats at the hands of the Bariba in 1783 and the Nupe in 1790. It had probably been forced to pay tribute to Nupe before this, and there was a long period of Nupe raids on the north-eastern areas of the kingdom. http://lucy.ukc.ac.uk/YorubaT/yt2.html Learn proper history. It is hard to push ones influence over such a distance... by all accounts it was a very weak state! |
PhysicsQED: lmaoI am not even of that Ethnic group so a neutral historian. I am saying there is no way it would have happened. Oyo is largely considered an Upstart and never was organized. The Fulani overran the place easily. If this indeed true it just showed that the Western Nigeria was too hard to reach all the way from Ghana while controlling it and providing reinforcements. This is not shocking considering the distance. |
PhysicsQED: Cavalry don't work in the forests, genius. Their entire mode of operation would have been worthless. They were on their way. |
PhysicsQED: It's definitely not fake.If this happened it was when the Ashanti were trying to expand to colonize Nigeria. I believe it would have happened eventually. Look at where they are based and the distance. They were moving closer to conquering Oyo than the other way around. |
PhysicsQED: Stop making stuff up. You look silly. There's no west African history book where you'll see nonsense like the above. It won't say it because, it is not politically correct. Without European interference all of Nigeria today would be 100 percent Hausa Fulani.. ![]() |
manny4life: Dude, beat it. YOU OPENLY ADMITTED TO NORTHERN AS YOUR SUPERIORS NOT MINE.If you could read I was saying Northern Nigerias were Superior to those in the South and view themselves as such! Why do you think 99 percent of your leaders have been from the North? Just saying. Either way as you can see I know the region very well so, be careful when messing with me. |
london2lasgidi: Sometime in 1764, the Ashanti army marched out to invade the Dahomey. The exact size of neither force is known. What historians are sure of is that the Ashanti army was ambushed in or near Atakpamé in what is now Togo. A force of Dahomean infantry, including the kingdom's elite Ahosi corps of female soldiers, as well as levies from the Oyo Empire, inflicted a crushing defeat on the Ashanti army. During the battle, the Juabenhene (head of the royal clan of Oyoko) was killed. The Ashanti army never reached Dahomey and was forced to retreat. What?? ![]() Fake history. I read west African history and there are More Ashanti sounding names closer to Nigeria than Yoruba sounding names near Ghana. That should tell you something about real expansion(not that it matters)... I will admit that those who did the expansion were likely different Akans and not Ashanti but, the story still stands. |
manny4life: Thanks BOSS,I am sorry to bust your bubble but, if you are from the South the people in the North who can't accept to be ruled by you have been your masters for 800 years I read west African history... |
http://africanhistory.about.com/od/kingdoms/ss/SaharaTradeRoutes.htm here is a little history. The gold and Kola nut is Ghana and Ivory Coast. The Ivory Wood and Slaves is Nigeria and Cameroon. This was largely the history of the region prior to European interference. |
PhysicsQED: lol @ thisLOL pure lies... You know what I meant ![]() |
The countries are not distant relatives but 2 distinct states. |
PhysicsQED: The President of the country is from the south right now.Yes the Hausa Fulani have been trading with Ghanaians in gold and Kola nuts for 700 years prior to the groups from the south even realizing Ghana existed. Just because today there are Boko Haram terrorist there does not mean the area has always been bad... In fact during the time of Islamic empire those in the North where doing well in the Trans-Saharan trade of goods. Look it up! |
london2lasgidi: Ghana man looooooooooooolActually he is Zimbabwean but, would be a sex symbol in the failed state of Nigeria. |
london2lasgidi: Ghana President lol.Very good looking compared to Goodluck and the whole Nigerian cabinet!! ![]() |
PhysicsQED: The borders of Nigeria were determined by the colonials. The people in the Southern Part of Nigeria have been under the Boot of those of the North. I don't deal with second class citizens ![]() Nigerians from the North are more noble with a deeper history in West Africa and I view them as Superior!! There ![]() |
london2lasgidi: Ghana prisonerThat one is Nigerian! You can tell from the eyes!! I can smell a criminal from a mile away! |
london2lasgidi: Ghana footballer, ugly and charcoal black people. He is a little lighter than Goodluck Jonathan But yes some of us are Black and we love it!! |
london2lasgidi: just finished dancing azonto on my ghana link's ikebe lol.Did that 10 minutes ago on my 3 Naija links ikebes... and the loved it!!! |
