What if it was the other way around and they maintained a poker face when discussing African history. I have to say Africans have some of the worst manners.

Alez: These African americans are full of excuses. These losers actually had it easy. They are lazy and want us to side with them.
More Africans have acquired better education. Do these guys think its easy living in Africa. Am a Ugandan lady who had to study in Idi Amin Dada's regime. Do these fool's think it was easy to be in school while shots are fired right outside your classroom? Do they know how we had to wake up at 3am and dig in the fields, have cassava and water for breakfast and then walk 11 kilometers to school? Do they know how we had to protect rebels in our huts just to see the next day. How my father, then a policeman lost his life since he didn't side with the president and how i missed my final paper in secondary school but was the end of me? did i give up and let the government give me scraps? I fkn had to leave the village and come to Kampala to look for a job and take my self back to school.
Would i have all i have if i had given up?
We Africans value education. Its a shame the African Americans still whine.

Man some of you are harsh. Trust me this is not just a Black American issue. I wil not be hard on this woman because I do not know her. It's not about her but it's about the best interest of those kids. A single woman can not care for that many kids by herself. She can't provide the kids with food clothes and shelter.She can't give each individual child the attention that they need. You can not tell me she is not neglecting most of those kids. The older kids can't enjoy their youth because they have to help their mom. That's unfair to those kids. Just imagine how those kids would turn out in a home environment like that.Foster care is the best thing for those kids. It saddens me that they will be split up but the good thing is that they will be in a nurturing home.

Yeah it's definitely not an Nigerian thing. I did go to a wedding reception that was hosted by Nigerians. I noticed that a lot of the guests had plates of food stacked up on the table to go. Next to the plates were unopened drinks that were ready to go as well. When the party came to an end they grabbed their drinks and plates & took off. No one threw their trash away they just left it there. I thought that was tacky. There were three ladies who later came and started picking up the trash. I felt so sorry for them because the room was trashed. People leaving their mess bothered me more then anything. I'm just not used to that.

What are your thoughts on this? As for me I don't refer to Africans as Black or African American. It doesn't mean that I don't consider them either or. I try to find out where they are from and I address them as such. If I don't know where they are from I would refer to them as being African. I mainly refer to those of us who were brought to America by way of the slave trade as Black,

@OP you have me confused. I read the,"Are Africans proud of Black Americans"? thread. You said not so nice things about us. In that same thread when responding to a Black American poster you used the words "your people". That was your way of referring to Black Americans. You created this thread encouraging us to return to our igbo roots.I'm scratching my head!!

At every stage of the criminal justice system, Black people and other minorities face inequality and discrimination. We all know about people who've been treated unfairly by police or by the courts. When the entire system treats Black people unequally, it means that the death penalty is applied unequally too. Troy Davis' case underscores the way in which this systemic inequality can lead to a tragic miscarriage of justice.

The requirement for a conviction of guilt in this country is that it is proven "beyond a reasonable doubt". Plenty of doubt has been brought up since the conviction , doubt that should have been grounds for a new trial. The new trial would have been the place to present the evidence-- the true evidence, not what now appears to be lies that were presented during the initial trial.

I haven't came across a thread in regards to Esan culture. I would love to learn more about. Please share what ever you can about them.
