H Beams are steel in H form
While galvanized pipe are in circular form.
But u will need to engange an experience welder & a manson to supervise the construction if u are building on a good soil. but if your land is waterlogged, u may need to involve a professional.

Better; go for H beams steel
Cheaper go for 4" galvinized pipe or concrete.
But i normally advise steel stand, because one may need to utilize space in the future, u can easily relocate steel stand, but concrete stand is not moveable.

Why can't a shallow foundation carry the load? Is it not because of the height which will definitely increase the weight of the building?
All these engineering calculation all stems from simple logic, u need to see the sizes of columns supporting bridges, they can never be same with those supporting a concrete parapet for bungalow. I will never accept same supporting column sizes for bridges & parapet because of calculation....
We use 12mm for bungalow reinforcement, but it is not recommended for duplex, i haven't use less than 16mm, because as height increases, load increases....Applying engineering principles doesn't stop logic....

U can't really seperate height from depth in construction, same principle apply to cantilever, the protrusion should also be maintained on the other side. It is simple equilibrum. Take ur NGL as centre point, but doesn't work 100% for foundation, but same principle & idea.

That is how I want to learn so I can properly inform my clients the reason why I would want to start using baskets for soakaway construction.

Any vertical stand must have a base, including water tank stand, it maybe small, but there must be a base. If truly u have been building bungalows columns without baskets then i honestly sorry for your clients. It isn't a must to use columns for soakaway & bungalows, but if u want to use it, then do it well. I was expecting u to acknowledge your error & move on after a poster pointed it out, but here u are trying to defend something wrong, the more u try, the more u exhibit your ignorance about construction works. The only difference between duplex columns & that of bungalows is that the basket of one is wider than the other, but they both require baskets. If u have been building columns for bungalows without baskets, know now it is wrong.

Backfilling and compound filling are the same thing eventually[url][/url]. You can't backfill your foundation and not levelling it with the compound. So for example you did a four coarse foundation, best practice is to backfill to the height of just below the DPC level and it is this level you should use to fill the compound.

Unless you're building on top of a hill, lands are seldom higher than roads. I know sand filling the compound is one expense homeowners shy away from, but the truth is if you did a proper high foundation like four coarse, you should back fill the foundation and eventually the compound. Only so can you truly enjoy the benefit of a high foundation as rain water will not settle in your compound but wash away to the adopted road and gutters.

To backfill means to cover up the foundation trenches to natural ground level or adopted ground level, while compound filling has to do with filling of the entire compound inorder to maintain a flat surface for interlock, concrete works etc, direct drainage or to achieve a higher level than the access road.

Honestly, I did fencing of a exactly the same size few years ago. Im sure that fewer than 66 columns were used at the end of the day. lets do simply calculation for COLUMNS alone!!!

Perimeter Length:

200 ft +200ft +100ft+100ft = 600ft

So,

3Blck(10 Coarses) = 30Blocks

So, 2000Block / 30Blocks =66.6 ~= 65 columns can be made

Now @ 10ft spacing,

600ft / 10ft = 60 sections

Its possible in MY view

The guy quoted 2000blocks for the columns of the fencing which to me was well calculated
Which some said it was too much
Maybe they were referring to one block per column & not the 3blocks per column

Going by your calculation
30blocks per column
60sections x 30blocks = 1800blocks
Plus some percentage for breakages will still give u 2000 or 2000+
I use nothing less than 15% for breakages

Nice efforts, but I think you assumed a location. For instance your site must be by the side of quarry in other to get granite at of 20 tons at 50k or may be u mean gravel.
2000 blocks for pillars then I think the pillars must be at every 2 feet. I will rather advise OP to do a direct contacts with professional in the house and get a valuable advise before you will start a project and get stuck half way.

Sir 2000blocks for that size of land for columns is not much, unless u are envisaging 1 block per column & not the conventional 3 blocks.
