Manchester City has completed the signing of John Stones from Everton in a £47.5m deal on a six-year contract.

The fee, which makes Stones the most expensive defender in Premier League history, will increase to £50m with add-ons.

Sky sources understand the deal was done between the two clubs on Monday night. City's squad have been given the day off on Tuesday so Stones will not meet his new team-mates until Wednesday. 


The news comes after what a City source admitted was an administrative error on Tuesday morning when Stones was named in the club's Champions League squad, which was published on the UEFA website.


Everton thwarted Chelsea's persistent attempts to sign Stones last season.

The transfer will also benefit Barnsley, who have confirmed they included a sell-on clause when they sold Stones to Everton. The exact amount they will receive has not been disclosed.

Stones told the club's website: "I'm absolutely delighted to sign for City and now the deal's done I'm looking forward to the next stage in my career.

City boss Pep Guardiola added: "We want to help John show his quality with us and improve on what he has already achieved.

"I like the way he plays the game and I'm looking forward to welcoming him into the squad."

Stones, who will take squad No 24, becomes City's eighth signing of the summer transfer window, following Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Aleksandar Zinchenko, Aaron Mooy, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Marlos Moreno

United sign Pogba

Manchester United is delighted to announce that Paul Pogba has completed his transfer from Italian club Juventus. Paul joins on a five-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year.
Pogba was signed for a record fee of £89m, subject to increase as a result of add-ons and bonuses.
Paul, 23, has been with Juventus for four seasons, making 124 appearances and scoring 28 goals. He joined the Bianconeri from United in 2012.

The midfielder has been capped by France on 38 occasions, scoring 6 goals and was a member of the recent squad that reached the final of Euro 2016.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends. But I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford. Dj Jimmy jatt was on the wheels of steel. Dbanj had the last appearance and it was cool,during his performance, Senator Ben Murray Bruce took the mic from him and asked Don Jazzy to come out and come to the stage, but it was discovered that Don Jazzy had already left the programme. Senator ben Murray Bruce wanted Dbanj and Don Jazzy to perform a song together during the ceremony, but it was not going to happen.
Dbanj later told all the guests that as he was coming to the stage for his performance, he told Don Jazzy that he would be glad if they can perform a song together on the stage during his performance, but to his surprise Don Jazzy had already left the hall. He however said if Senator Ben Murray Bruce wants him and Don jazzy to perform any song he is ready on his own part, and if Don jazzy comes out with a beat today, by tomorrow they would release a song.
It was a wonderful event.
