BLOGGING AS A BUSINESS No business would make money if there are no customers to buy goods sold by that business. The same principle applies to blogging, regardless of your reason for owning or authoring a blog, you would need people to read what you post on your blog. In blogging your customers are referred to as traffic, audience and customers; yeah, customers. Read on to learn the right way to generate blog traffic. No blog is worth the design and unique contents if there is nobody visiting that blog. Traffic is where your money is if you are blogging as a business. Most times your niche and the quality of your contents determine the type of traffic your blog would attract. There are various ways to drive traffic to your blog, but these are grouped into 2 categories. Paid Traffic Free Traffic I must inform you that there’s nothing free. You’re either investing your money or your time. PAID TRAFFIC: Paid traffic is easier to generate when you have the resources to invest in paid adverts. As the name implies, paid traffic involves paying a certain amount of money for a certain period of time in order to generate traffic to your blog. The process involves looking for a platform with huge audience and traffic to advertise your blog on for a fee. Most times these platforms set the price/fee they charge. An example of this is using the Google adwords platform to advertise your blog to visitors of Google searching for keywords related to your niche. Another example is using Facebook ads to drive traffic to your blog. You pay to get your blog ads shown to people interested in your niche and in your chosen location(s). FREE TRAFFIC: Free traffic is the more difficult route when generating traffic for your blog. There are different free ways to drive traffic to your blog, you just have to be creative and you’d be able to come up with strategies. It involves sharing your posts on social media sites, posting on forums, commenting on other relevant blogs and linking it back to your blog/post. It also involves answering questions on Q and A sites and quoting your posts links as reference and source of your answer. You could also comment on YouTube videos and place your links in your comments. If you aren’t camera shy, you could create a video version of your post and upload on YouTube, putting your blog link in the description of your video. The best way to get quality traffic for your blog is to create SEO optimized contents. SEO is an acronym for the phrase “Search Engine Optimization”. What this simply means is that your contents have to be well written with required keywords so as to rank higher in search engines. SEO is a very broad topic and requires very good knowledge in it before you can fully optimize your post to be search engine friendly. It also involves link building. Link building is like getting nominations from other blogs for the post of relevant content source. It’s like different sites telling their visitors that your site is an expert in your niche, that the great content they are reading now was coined by you, the owner of (your site name and link). They mention your site by linking directly to it. When search engines like Google is looking for good content in your niche, they look for keyword rich posts and also check sites which good backlinks. They believe that if your contents are not great other sites won’t be linking to your site. That is what link building entails, in a nutshell. I’m not an expert in SEO, you don’t have to be an expert too. Just know the basics. A great site to learn SEO is Backlinko Charity begins at home, they say. Your contents should be relevant to your blog first. This can be achieved by linking one post to another from your blog, which is where the link building begins; at home. In summary, there are various approaches to drive traffic to your blog. You are either using the free method or the paid method. But please note that your content is the key decider here. If your content is not adding value enough, your visitors won’t want to visit your blog the second time. SOURCE: https://hustlersclass.com/marketing/generate-blog-traffic/
