Thank you for this sensible, nuanced and beautiful take.

Beardedboy, Softmirror, come and learn.
He hasn't said anything new. My single point is very straightforward. Any cultural practice in which life of innocent persons will be used as rituals has no justification whatsoever. Mean while fluidity can actually mean dilution.

[quote author=givedemwotowoto post=136122287]To get Peter Obi elected as party flagbearer, you have to join ADC.

PO has a job to do here. Educate Obidients about the delegate or flagbearer election/selection process. When it starts, how it will happen, who qualifies to be a delegate, and all that. He needs to go state by state and get people mobilized and informed.

Atiku of all people lol 😂. It still won't stop Tinubu from being re-elected in 2027.

Politics › Re: Peter Obi Visits Buhari's Family To Pay Condolence by Softmirror: 12:56pm On Jul 16, 2025
Just to mention one of Peter Obi's many mistakes as of yesterday is the fact that he did not attend Buhari's Burial. Politics is very much about sentiments. Infact the relevance of Peter Obi was built on ILLOGICAL SENTIMENT by some people who originally despised him when he was infact Governor. This is another illogical sentiment.

So, this is my point, the North will and have even already started using that against him. They will use it to remind Buhari's cult he left behind.

While what the Governor of Katsina said that Buhari remarked about Tinubu of being a 'A BRAVE MAN, A COURAGEOUS MAN' is resonating far and deep since yesterday in the North. In addition to it is a DIGNIFYING BURIAL by the current President who will run for re election.

Your judgement of Buhari of not being fully in charge is known to Buhari himself while alive. That is why he had to praise President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for such a quality of BRAVERY which he lacked during his administration of the country.

It means such rites of killing can still be achieved secretly.

You did not use any logic. My point is that every religions have impacted the society negatively in one way or the other. So, demonizing the traditional religion just because of a singular act is uncalled for when the atrocities committed by other religions are very clear for all to see.
Of course based of their burial rites. My mentioning of masquerade is just an aspect to it. Go back and read the burial rites because that's the whole essence.

... and the killing of Deborah et all was due to what?
The killing of Deborah is not even in the same context with what we are talking about. But then, let me use your logic to make an explanation. Do you support Boko Haram based on the fact that it was a Peaceful movement on the on set which denounced western education based on Yusuf Muhammad teachings until the man was killed without trial while in custody?

Or the killing of his followers because they were not putting on helmet?

It actually did. Go and read about Yunfa in Kano. That's why it was a jihad
You have changed mouth now. I asked you for specific aspects of Christianity that you claimed were influenced by paganism and now you bring another claim that Protestants regard Catholics as pagan in colouration. If I ask you for evidence of such, I'm sure you'll fly off on another tangent. Did the Pope requested to be buried in rites that are alien to Catholic methods before he died? You are simply confusing yourself
I made an example of the Pope. But you still had to ask me again lol. That's an example that is public knowledge.

How about Boko-Haram killings in the name ALLAH and the Pastors that are ripping off their Member in the name of JESUS?
Let me paint a scenario with the End Sars for example. During the End Sars which started as a peaceful protest but ended up becoming violent in which Policemen and stations were being attacked. Does it justify a retaliation by the Police to use their guns and bullets in defense. Shoot to kill?!

Kukutente23:
What pagan rites are those
Can you give examples
There's no need to tell lies about Christianity just because you want to defend the right of your Muslims to be Kings and retain their religion
There are Christians that are Kings as well in Yorubaland and my stand still remains the same with them. If they had no problems carrying out all aspects of the ritual when taking the throne, they should have no problem fulflling same demise at their death. The Kano traditional stool once used to have a tradition where the king is not allowed a natural death. The ascension of Islamic Emirate changed that. Imagine a situation where an Islamic Emir will be strangulated to death just to fulfill the traditional requirement of Kano!
If the ascension of the Islam changed such a tradition in Kano did it also throw out a once Pagan Kings that became a Muslim from their throne?

My example with the Pope is one of Catholics. The recent burial rites of the Pope that died got lots of criticism from Non-Catholics who of course it is public knowledge that Protestants have always regarded Catholics as being infiltrated with Paganism. There are so many books written by Christian Scholars to this effect.

That is left for the secret cult responsible.
Any problems with that?
I don't have any problem as long as the premise to my argument stands. There is not justification for killing any innocent life in the name of rites.
Culture › Re: Oluwo Of Iwo: "Awujale's Death Frees Yorubas From Ritual Slavery" by Softmirror: 10:39am On Jul 16, 2025
Kukutente23:
1. The story says that he requested to be buried islamically at his demise
2. Pagan kings that became Christians either have to leave the throne if they know there are certain aspects of the throne that conflicts with their religion or they change the throne in its entirety to fit their new faith. You can't mix both together. That's where the problem arises. The Emirs in the north today are Islamic rulers and not the traditional ones that used to exist. That's why I said if he carried out the coronation rite of eating his predecessor's body parts, he does not have the moral ground to reject same being done to him.
The spread of Christianity during the Byzantine empire didn't EJECT their Kings from their throws. Infact the incorporated pagan rites into Christianity. Take a look at how the dead is buried in the Bible and how a Pope is buried for example.

Can you point out the problem with the rites?
Secondly no one says rites cannot evolve.
No one said rites cannot evolve? So what is the point of your argument? On which principle should it evolve and why?
Culture › Re: Oluwo Of Iwo: "Awujale's Death Frees Yorubas From Ritual Slavery" by Softmirror: 10:27am On Jul 16, 2025
Kukutente23:
The big question is if the late Awujale carried out the coronation rites
If he did and then rejected the same rites at his demise, then he betrayed the stool and its requirements that he signed up for
He is a dead man already. A dead man don't have any power on the living. So how did he betray the tradition. This logic doesn't actually add up unless you choose to be hypocritical. Are you saying the Pagan Kings that Christianity won their hearts have to fulfill their pagan rites when they die as a justification so as not to be labeled as a betrayer?

Yes the crowd has disperse. Rest in Peace Muhammadu Buhari.

I sincerely hope Peter Obi's campaign will be centered around 'FAKE DRUGS' and their manufacturers. Doing this will give him 100% support of the rest of Nigerians except the manufacturers who may want to kill him as they tried killing Professor Akunyili of blessed memory but ended up killing her husband many years later.

My point is. The death from the ingestion of 'FAKE DRUGS' is uncountable. A war which when ever the government chooses to fight or is fighting, the government is always met with a TOTAL RESISTANCE from a certain group of people who it is their character to call Nigeria a 'ZOO' and culture to worship money.

Our challenge is not even in having world class hospitals, our challenge is in having a HUMANE heart that is MERCIFUL. Is manufacturing and selling of fake drug an act of MERCY and KINDNESS to your fellow human being? Is Buhari truely unkind and merciless?
