BusinessUnlcles Company Slammed With 9million Naira Tax By Lagos State by solakk(op): 1:21pm On Jan 26, 2011
As far as I would like to commend the state Government for been good to its citien, I feel ashamed to say that they are indeed inconsiderate and very money hungry.
My uncle runs a small scale industry since 1990 and the government has now said that he didn't pay tax for the last 2004, when he actually did pay tax for all his staff and VAT too.

The real issue was that they calculated that he and his son, who is a director have been earning 2million naira yearly and that he should have paid tax for them both which totals the 9million.

The my uncle's son has not be paid a dime from the company and my uncle doesnt even earn salary, so where is the government getting their figures from. If I may say, this is a fraudulent act and it should be stopped,  FASHOLA, must not get rich by breaking the bank,  This is a downside of His government.

I need comments on way forward or experiences please.

cheers

EducationWhat Grade Did You Make In School And Why? by solakk(op): 12:23pm On Feb 15, 2010
As an average student in school, I once had an arguement with a friend as to the reason why some people come out of Uni with first-class grades and others graduate with 3rd class or pass.

In my humble opinion, i argued that your final result is as a result of your input (hardwork / dedication to succeed). the other participant argued it had nothing to do with that and even intelligent people graduate with 3rd class grades.

pls what would you say determines success in Academics??

N.B: In a real world context, ignore the naija factor of lecturer or any other vices,
RomanceRe: I'm So Paranoid About Marriage by solakk: 4:37pm On Feb 10, 2010
I am not scared of getting married . I can only pray I do not find a girl that cheats on me,because the day I find out, she would be out of the door. its just principle,  no sentiments.

I guess my thots are founded by the word of GOD, if anyone in this forum still believes:

Matthew 5:32
But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

cheers
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Are There Jobs In Uk ? by solakk: 3:37pm On Feb 09, 2010
I must confess I rili enjoyed reading through the comments and I can establish that there is  a whole lot of sense in it.
@poster: You are sure a very knowledgeable person, with good business acumen and a drive to succeed. good for you!! Your points are quite clear, I dont know why most contributors seem to read it in a wrong contest.

@Everyone: UK is a land of opportunites, and with the right skills and majorly God on your side, irrespective of our disadvantages (colour and tongue) you can get yourself a very good job here. I have worked as a contractor for a while in the IT industry and I know what I  earned in a 3-month contract was better than my salary in Nigeria for a whole year (confirmed). But, the environement also is an highly capital intensive one where you get to spend so much too, to run the bills.
That said, I wouldnt say nigeria is not good, as if one is endowed with good business acumen or as one of the  contributors put it , you have a very sort-after skill, you can make it beyond bounds.

My conclusion: If anyone lives in the UK and relies on his wife for his daily meal, or sleeps home all day not finding a way forward, then check out your motherland, cos you might be missing something. The issue with the elderly ones is that they seem not to be able to go about the menial jobs again, claiming that they if they cant get something decent they had better stayed home(rubbish).
