Pioneer Civil Society Organization in the Nigeria Housing Industry, Housing Development Advocacy Network (HDAN) has expressed dismay with dissatisfaction about a report published in one of Nigeria’s national dailies, Premium Times on how Mr President was misinformed to sign the bill on real estate regulation in Nigeria which has not passed through necessary legislative processes at both the House of Reps and the Senate. This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Director, Festus Adebayo on Sunday in Abuja. While expressing his shock over the incident, Adebayo noted that HDAN was yet to understand why there was so much desperation on the part of some stakeholders to get the bill signed into law by Mr President, even when it has not gotten the necessary legislative nod. “For us at HDAN, we have been monitoring the movement of the bill before it suddenly disappeared which prevented us from knowing how far the bill has gone. The last information we heard concerning such related bill was the passage of real estate regulation bill for FCT. We wondered how many interest groups are pushing for different bills that will serve their selfish interest rather than the overall interest of the sector under the real estate regulation bill”. continue reading: https://www.housingtvafrica.com/we-demand-for-criminal-investigation-of-those-involved-in-misinforming-mr-president-about-real-estate-regulation-bill-hdan/

The Presidential Election Petition Court PEPC has struck out the Allied Peoples Movement APM petitions against President Bola Tinubu and his Vice President, Kashim Shettima, for lack of merit. The PEPC dismissed and described APM’s case filed to nullify Tinubu’s election as “incompetent”. The court held that issues raised by the APM in its petition contained pre-election matters that could only be determined by the Federal High Court. Chairman of the panel, Justice Haruna Tsammani, read the ruling. The tribunal also dismissed the APM petition against the Independent National Electoral Commission and four others. Listed as 1st to 5th respondents are INEC, All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima and Kabiru Masari. The tribunal ruled on each of the arguments put forward by APM. READ ALSO: Zulum Meets NLC Demands, Approves N2b Interest-Free Loans, Increases Monthly Releases for Gratuities, Allocates 30 Buses to Transport Workers Tsammani said the petitioners failed to prove their arguments and the petition was void of merits. The judge also upheld preliminary objections raised by all the Respondents to challenge the competence of the petition. Tsammani held that since the petition centered on the qualification or otherwise of Tinubu to contest the presidential election, the APM ought to have gone to court within 14 days after Tinubu was nominated by the APC. He held that since the cause of action bordered on a pre-election matter, the APM lacked the locus standi to challenge Tinubu’s nomination. Tsammani also held that the law did not allow a political party to query the process adopted by another political party in nominating its candidate. The judge also held that invalid nomination or double nomination did not qualify as a ground for disqualification in respect of the presidential election as provided in sections 131 and 137 of the Constitution. According to the report, the APM asked the court to invalidate the votes of the President on the grounds of the double nomination of his vice, Shettima. The APM argued that at the time Shettima became the vice presidential candidate of the APC, he was also a senatorial candidate in Borno State. The case of the APM was opened and closed on June 21 after calling one private witness. https://www.housingtvafrica.com/just-in-tribunal-dismisses-apms-petition-against-tinubu-shettima/

Justice Haruna Tsamani, the lead judge of the Presidential Election Petition Court, has dismissed the drug trafficking claims against Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Labour Party (LP). LP had claimed that Tinubu was involved in a drug trafficking case in which he forfeited $460,000 to the United States of America via a case determined by a US District Court. The judge agreed with the submission of Tinubu’s counsel, citing a letter issued by the US Embassy in 2003. The allegation is one of the grounds upon which the petition of the LP was instituted against the declaration of Tinubu as president-elect after Nigeria’s February 25 presidential election. The embassy had communicated with Tafa Balogun, the Inspector-General of Police at the time, that a records check conducted to establish Tinubu’s involvement in drug crimes came back negative. The court proceeded to read the contents of the letter from the US embassy in Nigeria. https://www.housingtvafrica.com/just-in-tribunal-rejects-tinubus-charges-of-drugs-trafficking/ |

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has warned land grabbers, locally called “Omo onile,” extorting developers and disturbing their workers at building sites in the state. The governor gave the warning against the backdrop of petitions flooding his office over attacks on artisans and contractors at building sites across the state. The governor’s warning was contained in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and made available on Tuesday. I have received several petitions from Osogbo, Ife, Ilesa, Ikirun, Iwo, and almost every major town in Osun state. Recently, I received more than three petitions from Osogbo alone, where perpetrators allegedly maimed and even killed some site workers,” the governor said. “I have reports of seizure of work equipment belonging to artisans and even illegal detention of contractors and site workers. All these must stop forthwith. “I have subsequently directed security agencies to conduct special operations to go after perpetrators. Our administration will not tolerate brazen lawlessness and unwarranted disruption of the livelihoods of innocent citizens. “I’m also requesting victims of these untoward activities to report the incidence to law enforcement agencies for appropriate actions,” the governor was quoted in the statement. for other news follow this https://www.africahousingnews.com/ https://www.africahousingnews.com/gov-adeleke-warns-against-construction-site-attacks-in-osun-state/ |
