Don't breed timid children. Help them have self confidence by sometimes letting them do things on their own. Don't criticise their mistakes all the time. Instead nudge them to try again. Control your anger and let them defend themselves when accused. I know our generation was built upon never talking back at elders. I think we can find a balance somewhere. When your child does something wrong, rather than screaming immediately, ask why he or she did that and wait for a response. The way you say it, your tone, gives room for an explanation. However, if each time you try to correct him or her, he or she immediately fires back in defense then this is rudeness. You see the difference? You create the avenue, and then they defend themselves. Then you decide if the explanation is worthwile or they deserve to be reprimanded. We should borrow some toughness from the parenting of our parents, but modify it to suit our time. Instead of accusing, prompt them for a response. Rather than "did you steal this", say "where did you get this"? The former calls him a thief and he may be too embarassed to defend himself. The latter gives him an avenue to explain how he got it. But when there is a pattern of keeping things that don't belong to him, you have to user firmer methods. I don't think parenting should be all soft and sweet candy, but it should also not be all stick, whip and screams. Maintaining the balance I guess is the algebra we all parents must work out, if I told you I knew I will be lying. Sometimes, I would have screamed at them before realising I was wrong to start with that. The difference however is that knowing it was wrong makes me feel guilty and creates the chance I will make efforts to adjust and watch out for the consequences. It is not healthy for children to grow up in a hostile atmosphere. You can be a no nonsense parent yet friendly and welcoming. Also don't be disturbed that your child is stubborn. I tell you, you should be more worrid about your timid child that is too scared to make a mistake before you. That stubborn child will likely fair better on his own in your absence. What you shouldn't condone are bad habits like lying and stealing, when there is a consistent pattern. If the problem is him doing the exact thing you asked him not to, but is generally of good behavior, dont worry, he will grow up just fine. Take this from a veteran stubborn child😀😀😆😆. Just keep doing your best and praying to Allāh to soften his heart. If you ever see me writing about parenting, don't even contemplate it is an attempt to sound like I have all the cards. I am just as clueless and scared as many of you, trying different things and asking Allāh to bless the efforts hoping it works. There is no harm if we exchange ideas on what we think works, perhaps we will pick some and drop some. Why don't we rub minds on parenting. Drop a parenting tip, but please be open minded enough to accept polite criticism. It is a discussion after all. Abu Imrān

The Democrats are avoiding to meet with the war criminal and wanted criminal of the international court in The Hague, Netanyahu. Trump is still calculating and has not decided. A report in the Washington Post: Kamala Harris, Biden's deputy and the designated candidate for the presidency on behalf of the Democratic Party, will not attend Netanyahu's speech to Congress due to "scheduling constraints". On the other hand Trump is still calculating and has not responded to the offer of a meeting by Netanyahu's delegation yet. Netyanahu is a wanted war criminal on warrant from the international court in The Hague for the genocide and massacre of over 13,000 children in Gaza.

Letter to my daughter in the future... 1. May Allāh bless and honour you, you have grown into a beautiful young lady and I am so proud of you. I love you so deeply even love itself will be jealous. 2. Know that it is a normal biological response to be attracted to a man. It only indicates you are healthy. Allāh will not question you about thoughts that form in your heart. You are only responsible for what you let them make you do. So, there is nothing special about being attracted to any boy or man. Where you could really lose your feminine esteem and dignity is what you let that feeling make you do. 3. My love, I didn't raise you to feel inferior to men. We don't believe in gender equality, but this inequality is more a matter of segregated responsibilities than a matter of superiority and inferiority. For instance, I haven't raised you to think you are by default less intelligent than any man. You can be the very best in any field you have chosen for yourself. Accepting your femininity makes you great. You will struggle to find your footing if you strive to be recognised the way men are recognised. Just be a woman, a great woman. 4. Let's talk a little about dependence and independence. For now you are dependent on me, and you may also be dependent on your brothers, and someday you will be dependent on your husband. Those men that are your mahrams, they are the ones you should feel confident depending on. Outside of them, strive to have as little need for other men as possible because that is a loophole men love to exploit. Strive to read and understand the course, you don't need any man to put you through. The less you need of men that are not your mahrams the more the respect and regard they will have for you. I want you to be a tough and fierce woman that still embodies all the meekness and gentility of femininity. 5. You are a Muslimah, you don't keep men as friends, and have no need for it. It is beneath you. Be the kind of woman that commands so much respect that men have to weigh what they say to you before they approach you. 6. I didn't raise you to go and propose to men. It is a vulnerability I want you to strive to overcome at all cost. Any man that is loved by many women you have to put special effort to be indifferent to him because he will likely be full of himself. He must have received many proposals from many women and you will only go and grow the list. You don't want to be that. By Allāh's will you will be a highly sought after woman and be the one to make your choice. 7. If you ever feel so strongly about any man at any time, do let me know. Sweetheart, I promise to NEVER judge your feelings and choices, as long as you trust me enough to understand I may accept or reject it. You have my word that I wouldn't mind going on your behalf to do things the right way. You will see young ladies your age that men pluck from the street at will. You are different dear. You are dignity personified. You are not that cheap. 8. It is a good thing your Dad knows a lot about the antics men use to trick their way into the heart of women. We will have a detailed discussion on that some other time. Treat all men as suspects until proven otherwise, and stay within the limits your Lord has set for you, may Allāh guide and protect you. 9. Learn to respect people and even admire them without getting emotionally attracted to them. Make your emotions very expensive. You may admire a person's knowledge, intelligence, commitment to the deen, speech and writing prowess and all but be emotionally indifferent to them. You don't need to love everything you like. 10. I have saved the best for the last, fear Allāh in all you do. Whatever you abandon Allāh to achieve will end in regret. Be willing to let go of anything that jeopardises your connection with Allāh. The grave is dark and lonely. I will travel the world to protect you but not even I can help you there. I am only a guide, you are responsible for yourself, but I have so much trust and confidence in you. May Allāh guide your every step and make you beneficial to yourself and to the world. I love you pumpkin, more than you will ever know. Abu Imrān

As a man, it’s never your duty to protect your woman from other men coming to toast her, flirt with her, or even sleep with her. It’s 100% your woman’s responsibility to create boundaries against men who want to encroach on her space. The moment your woman begins to entertain these external male figures, your job is not to protect her from them, start questioning her, begging, or trying to stop her. No, absolutely not. There is nothing you can do about a woman whose eyes are outside. You will only hurt yourself if you try to caution her. As a man, you have failed if you try to talk her into leaving other men just for you. When a woman disrespects you by flirting with another man or giving another man access to her life, like the way that young man’s girlfriend left him only to be used by Omalay on stage, your best reaction is to abandon her and dump her back to the streets where you picked her from. Women who act like this have no place being a wife to any wise man. She’s for the streets and will forever belong to the streets. The boyfriend should be happy that she revealed her true nature before marrying her. These are the types of women that are 100% destined to cheat on their men. As a man, avoid these types: Promiscuous Women: These women are constantly seeking attention and validation from different men, making it nearly impossible to maintain a stable, trustworthy relationship. They lack loyalty and will bring nothing but heartache. Party Girls: Women who prioritize partying and nightlife over a stable relationship are not fit for a serious commitment. Their reckless behavior and poor decision-making lead to turmoil and instability, dragging you down with them. Materialistic Women: If she values material possessions over meaningful connections, she will never be satisfied with what you provide. Her insatiable desire for luxury and status can lead to financial strain and emotional disconnect. She’s more likely to leave you the moment someone with deeper pockets comes along. Women with a Bad Past: A history filled with problematic behaviors and poor choices can be a red flag for future issues. These women carry emotional baggage and unresolved issues that will negatively impact your relationship. You don’t need someone else’s drama in your life. Unsubmissive and Reprobate Women: Women who refuse to be cooperative or show respect will only bring conflict and strife. A harmonious relationship requires mutual respect and understanding, which these women lack. They will constantly challenge your authority and undermine your leadership. Single Moms: Let’s be blunt—taking on the responsibilities of another man’s child can be complex and challenging. It’s a burden that not all men are prepared for, and it can bring unnecessary complications into your life. Know your limits. Violent Women/Women with Anger Issues: These women can be unpredictable and potentially dangerous. Their inability to manage their emotions can lead to frequent conflicts and even physical altercations. They are a liability you can’t afford. Women Obsessed with Social Media, Male Attention, and Validation: They crave constant external validation, which can undermine the stability of your relationship. Their need for attention can lead to jealousy, insecurity, and infidelity. They are never satisfied with what you give them. Women Obsessed with Celebrities: If she idolizes celebrities, she may be living in a fantasy and have unrealistic expectations for your relationship. This obsession creates a disconnect between her expectations and reality, leading to dissatisfaction and conflict. You can never compete with her fantasy world. Avoid these types of women when it comes to marriage and serious relationships. Be wise and make choices that align with a stable and respectful partnership. Your peace of mind and future happiness depend on it. Stay putinized. Inspired by MrFred Putin

On the afternoon of May 9th, I received a WhatsApp message from a new contact: "Good afternoon. Please, I want to know if you do attire rentals for a shoot? Thank you." I replied that we only offer direct sales. The person then explained further: "But is there a way I can convince you to release one of your attires? It is for what we hope will be a big TV splash project. The person we are looking to style is Veteran Actor Jide Kosoko. The shoot is on Saturday..." I explained that most of our products are made upon order and are promptly sent to clients once production is complete. However, I offered to quickly produce one for him and deliver it on Saturday morning. A kaftan would have been quicker, but they wanted a complete set of agbada. We agreed on the terms, and 70% upfront payment was sent and then his measurements. By this time, it was already around 6pm on Thursday, leaving us only 1 full day and a few hours to complete and deliver the project. I informed my team about the project and the esteemed personality who would be wearing it. We got to work immediately! The fabric was available, and the cutting began. That same night, I took the design concept to my embroiderer. Fast forward to Friday afternoon, the inner-wears (top and trousers) of the agbada were already down to ironing. Thanks to our dedicated tailors. The embroidery on the other hand was still being worked on and neither did it finish that night It was as if Friday night took the farthest route to reach Saturday morning Then it was a cloudy day that Saturday, I got the embroidery and rushed down to the factory to assemble it into a classy Agbada It's past 8am, my phone was already buzzing with calls and messages "Hello Oba, what's up? Our event starts at 10am. Hope we get the clothes by then please. Meanwhile, you are sending it to Lagos continental hotel in VI” I assured them that I had booked a courier to handle the delivery. Man didn't show up in time till I began soughting for another. He later came in and pick the package The rider was about 30 minutes into the trip when it started raining heavily. According to him, he kept going until he had to stop and wait for the downpour to reduce, which didn't happen for about an hour. Meanwhile, that same Saturday, 11th of May, was the first day of #ObanGiveawayContest. Imagine the bombarding messages Then repeated calls from the client's end At a point their overall boss spoke to me, explaining that millions of naira were at stake and they'd be in mess if things went wrong. And that increased the level of my worriness Time was ticking Sky was pouring Phone was ringing Pressure was mounting… Long story short, the package was delivered but unfortunately, too late for the shoot. They ended up using an alternative outfit, and I had to forfeit the remaining 30% balance of the project. That's how I missed styling Prince Jide Kosoko and also forfeited the balance. Sometimes, despite our best efforts and planning, unforeseen circumstances can disrupt even the most well-intentioned plans. It's a reminder that life is unpredictable, and sometimes, we just have to accept what we cannot control Writer: Oba Abdul-Azeez https://www.facebook.com/ObaGboya?mibextid=ZbWKwL Oban Wears

So the pastor cannot pray to God to stop the fire immediately after it starts, or even pray to prevent the fire from starting in the first place? Shame on those who think that if they have cancer, a pastor will heal them with certain unseen miracles. As I said in my previous post a few weeks ago, God does not call anyone; it's you who call yourselves. |
