Best to hold £££ cash instead. Yes, you can use any decent USD Card also like Zenith, UBA, Access for almost all transactions here. Just don't bring $$$ cash. Once you get your BRP within days of arrival, you can open a Revolut or Monzo or Starling account easily and you can deposit up to £1,000 or so in Monzo.

Another cool freebie as previously mentioned is BA Amex Credit Card. Use it for Groceries and Transport, pay back in full without interest and accumulate points. These accumulated points can be used to pay for flight in so many Airlines, not just BA. They can also be used to pay Hotel bookings, Taxis, etc for trips abroad.

I have used the card for about 12 weeks and accumulated roughly 70,000 points which is enough for a trip to anywhere in the world really, free of charge.

Revolut is really sharing money. Last month, I made £100 from Referral bonuses alone. There are some months I earn more. As usual, I'm willing to give anyone £20 to open a Revolut Account, get a physical card and perform 3 card transactions of £5 each or more (could be Amazon or online purchases with the Virtual card).

Are you joking? The TV License covers a particular home address. So technically, you can actually take your TV to the park each time you wanna watch any of the covered programmes and you owe no one.

If you're working and earning a regular income, a TV licence is not a big deal, why give yourself unnecessary stress about what to watch when you can just pay for the damn thing and watch what you want on any device any day or time. It doesn't worth all the long conversations here. You can either pay £159 at once or you pay monthly. Additionally, you can use the license for other things like proof of address. And if you don't earn a regular income or you're not buoyant enough to pay for the license, why have a TV in the first place?

Finally, in these days of online entertainment and sports, there's no way you will not watch an online live event for which a TV licence is also needed. Get a TV licence and enjoy yourself to the fullest, simple.

Start applying immediately. If asked about Visa and the company you're applying to isn't willing to sponsor, just state that you're entitled to a 2-year PSW Visa which you should be activating when your current visa expires. Hopefully, your husband's clicks before then. You don't need to mention your husband's visa till it clicks. I know, first-hand, that this works.

Difference isn't much. The main concern should be Foreign Exchange Risk. The rates keep swinging.

Good morning my people. I have been looking for an apartment for a while now and I just managed to get accepted by a landlord (the competition is real). But my issue now is that the house fully runs on electric. I have heard so much about how electric is way costlier than gas. Right now, I don't know if I should just go ahead with it considering the fact that it is very difficult to secure an accommodation now or wait for an apartment that uses gas.

I was in your exact position last year and I took the Electric cos "what's the alternative? Keep searching with no end in sight?". True, the bills were higher: when gas folks were doing £80, I was doing about £240 so 3 times more. Thankfully, I could afford it. I also had to make changes in the way I used my heating to reduce the bills. I have a feeling if I had reduced my Thermostat to 19°c, I may have gone well below £200.

Funny story: my first month, I had my heater on 24/7 with Thermostat at about 30°c, my bill was about £900 for a month. Electric heating doesn't forgive such carelessness.

So, yes, electric is more expensive. Should you take it? it's up to you to decide.

Well, firstly, it's very unlikely thst you'd get an apartment within "a day or two".

But more importantly, what I was asking is the kind of apartment you are looking for long term. I know someone who is renting out rooms in a shared apartment in Cardiff.

Lastly, if you're trying to save on cost, I'd advise you to check neighbouring Towns cos Cardiff is the most expensive City in Wales.

£50k is a very decent salary even for a family. What part of UK would you be living in cos if it's London, for instance, it won't be as good a Salary anymore.
