Please I just want to find out, if its possible to get a band 9 and how to go about it. I have been practicing with ieltsonline.com, but the mock tests are harder than the cambridge sample tests and its confusing me.I am taking the general training tests.

I will encourage you to attend a physical class in any IELTS tutorial Centres close to you. I was studying online and was finding it difficult but immediately I joined a class in Abuja, it was simplified and made easier for me. I attended the class for 4 weeks and I was about writing the Exams before Lockdown disrupted the Exams

Check where you said " taking log of both sides"
Your next move when taking the long of the left hand side is mathematically wrong. Also, substitute your answers in both equations given and see if they will come out same in both equations. I have tried this question, so I know what I am saying.

You tried but there's a rule of logarithm you didn't follow.
Log (A + B ) is not equal to Log A + Log B . It is mathematically wrong.
Rather Log (A×B) = Log A + Log B...Correct!
So check your work from where you took long of both side. There is error there. Again if you substitute your answers in the given equations it does not satisfy both equations. Which shows that the answer is incorrect.
I think there is more to the question. Good try though!

Let V= Volume of solid
Therefore mass of solid in air = density × vol = 9×V = 9V
Mass of liquid displaced= mass in air - mass in Liquid
= 9V- 27
But volume of Liquid displaced = Volume of solid
Therefore, 1.2= 9V-27/V
1.2V= 9V-27
9V-1.2V=27
7.8V=27
V= 27/7.8
V= 3.5CM3 = Volume of solid
