ayxmania: Hello good evening. I have been reading this thread this thread from the first page, and I'm currently at the 88Þh page now. I am a graduate of Archaeology from UI, and I applied to study Law (DE). I got the pin today, went online, then went back to the school (abeokuta centre) to finish up. Fortunately for me, I was able to get my matric number. On getting to my portal, it stated that I should pay #36,000 as compulsory fee (30,000 as compulsory fee, 6000 as jamb regularization fee). Since I've been reading the thread, I never came about 36,000. I only saw 22, 500. Do u guys think it's an error, which is worth complaining? Or is that the amount now? Also, because I haven't paid any money, I couldn't check my course.. Does anybody have an idea of the number of courses I'll take this session (200level DE)? So I can noe how much I'm gna pay..I'll like to pay the whole fee (1st semester n 2nd semester) at once. Also, if I pay d 36k or 22,500 now, (I intend to start in January because I'm busy now) would I still re-pay the money in january when I'm ready to start the study?

I met the academic counsellor today, and I asked him about NYSC and LAW SCHOOL. I asked not because I wanna serve after graduating (I am already serving, I'm a batch b corps member), but rather, I asked so I could get the authentic information. And the following are my findings:
1) Graduates do not go for NYSC for now. Upon graduation, noun 'll issue you with an EXCLUSION letter if u are below 30, and an EXEMPTION letter if u are above 30. I was in iseyin camp during the last camp, and I didn't see any NOUN graduate. So that settles that.
2) For now, Law graduates do no go to LAW SCHOOL, but after the next phase of accreditation, they could go. The school is meeting the conditions set by NUC, and the course could be given a full accreditation anytime after this semester.

The school is actually cool, and it'll be fun to experience academic activity both in an open university, and in a conventional university. Thanks
The fees have been increased. That's what freshers now pay.

To check the courses for law, go to www.nou.edu.ng click on registrable courses for 2013/2014 academic session then click on school of law

note that if you are paying for both 1st and 2nd semmester at once, you will still need to pay compulsory fee when new semester (your own 2nd semester) begin to activate your portal for registration.

I will advise you dont pay any money now. Wait till january.

Welcome to NOUN.

life4rent: Please house, I was admitted to NOUN thru DE into 200Level Comm. Tech this year... I logged into my portal for 2nd semester course reg and most of the course are 100 level course with only 7 200 level courses which among has 2 electives. My question now is, is it must I reg some courses in 100 level with 200level courses? Or will I have to reg all the 100 level about 13 compulsory courses with the 200level courses? Please help!
I gained admission through DE to study comm tech too. To start with, is this your first semester? If no, how did you know the courses you registered for your first semester?

Femsyn: NOUN does not owe it as a duty to give hard copy study material. I repeat, NOUN is not mandated to give hard copy materials. If u've got some, lucky u! You are expected to download study materials from the website. Follow @NOUNlibrary on twitter for official responses to ur questions and stop relying on students, like Ferdimako for uninformed answers
Ok thanks but no thanks. If you guys think answers given here are wrong, kindly open an official account on Nairaland so you can give your informed answers.

Takoro13: you dont need to change it again as it has no effect on your activities. do you notice you were charge #5000 as you change it, if not, maybe you dont have much there if yes changing it back to 300lv now and want to change it back to 400lv later would required another #5000. This money is the money we are to pay at the graduation year. am stand to be corrected. love for all, hatred for none. peace!
ferdimako: No need to be confused. He is in order so long as the units are within 24! He should leave it @ 400L.
Thanks guys I will leave it @400level. And yes 5000 naira was deducted from my account for result verification fee.

One more thing, should I write 300level on the question paper when I sit for the 300level exams or I should just write the current level on my portal which is 400level? Thanks
EducationRe: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by SONKOko(m): 10:30am On Jul 04, 2014
godstino2002: I will suggest u register for 300level since is ur present level. Because, if u register for 400level, there will be a gap (300level second semester) which may create some difficulty for u doing final clearance.
That's what I am thinking too. But won't there be difficulty in my final clearance as there won't be 400level second semester too?
EducationRe: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by SONKOko(m): 10:25pm On Jul 03, 2014
Please guys I am a bit confuse

I'm supposed to be in 300level second semester but because I want to use only 2 more semesters, I changed from 300level to 400level to enable me register some 400level first semester courses.

Now have registered both 300level second semester courses and some 400level first semester Courses. My problem is that I don't know whether to change my level back to 300level or leave it at 400level
