Yeah a lot of these languages that whites speak today (came originally from blacks). There are more "Black" Afro-Asiatic speakers than there are white Afro-Asiatic speakers.

So the white Berbers many of them are of Roman, Turkish and Greek descent. The true Berbers are from Gourara, and the Siwa and Tuareg Berbers. The white "berbers" don't even practise Berber culture so why they call themselves Amazighen is beyond me.

There are many Afro-Asiatic languages extending from East to West Africa all of which are spoken in the Sahelian and Saharan belt.
Dude ,stop spamming this thread with your Afro-asiatic masturbations.This thread is about bantu people !Are you bantu?If you want to write essays about hausas or fulanis,why don't you open a thread just for that?You and your teammate ajuran take a sadistic pleasure at spoiling everything bantu in this forum.What is your issues with bantus?Inferiority complex?

Your logic is mute. Race is a social construct. Stop hanging on to it for dear life. We all know the reason why you care about Somalis/Ethiopians identifying as Black is because it uplifts Bantus and gets rid of the view that Blaks are incapable of having a culture or looking good.

You should care more about your bantus and form a country with them, instead of killing each other over who is what tribe. Stop focusing your attention on the horn of africa, where u are disliked are seen as former slaves. You some how thing we are afrocentric when that couldn't be farther from the truth.

You like to say we are black, but hide from the fact that race is a social construct and is constructed differently in every part of the world. and self identification /culture/ religon/ language is more important than anything. Besides by your logic if u identify as Negroid because thats what they labeled u because they were ur slave masters. We are not slaves to whites, and even some of them like to claim us as caucasoid (not white), but caucasoid skull shape, features.

On top of that we in the horn have on history with Bantus, aside enslaving your kind, and our culture is much more similar to arabs, and our language family is that of the Arabs/Jews/Berbers.

All that being said, we iddentify neither with Arabs/Whites/Negroids, but identify as Somali/Habesha.

So Bleep off and stop trying to claim people who dislike u.
I think your inferiority complex is killing you!You opened this thread to claim your fulanis cousins,how it turned into a bantu carnival?The true is you and your cousins feel inferior to bantus in everything.Bantus don't care and don't talk about you,why do you spend so much time convincing yourselves that you are superiors to bantus?Tell me how many successful bantus you know are married to Somalis,ethiopians or fulanis?Bantus guys are the fittest and best looking guys in Africa and wherever they are,they can get the best women around.Why settle for some broken @rses Somalis,ethiopians,etc....Go mix with whites,chineses,indians,arabs..etc,,We don't want to mix with you!Bantus are by far the most successful and most civilized race in the history of Africa and that will never change.And we know how to come together when needed:Whites deposed west African Laurent gbagbo but failed to depose Mugabe coz all bantus countries teamed up to prevent that.Kagame and museveni where making too much noise until Zuma and kikwete decided to put an end to their adventures in congo.If kagame is still in power in Rwanda is because zuma and kikwete are wary of the international community.Al shabab lunatics were raping ,killing and maiming zoomalis until bantus intervened and brought peace and prosperity to zoomalia.We can bring you back to square one if we want to!

Again all you do is self project.

When Somalis defeated the Portuguese in the 1500's, your people were being sold as cattle.

Somalia was the first country in AFRICA to be bombed by planes, and the country in Africa with the longest anti colonial war fighting against Ethiopia, Britain, and Italy, and France at the same time.

The Europeans came to Somalia in the 1900's, and those regions were not controlled by them as the Somalis actively fought them. In Southern Somalia the Italians and Somalis were on the same side fighting against Ethiopia so they can reglaim the ethiopian somali region of Ogaden.

Go learn history. Your people have been slaves to Somalis, Arabs, Ethiopians, Whites, every race on earth.

Somalias official language is Somali, every Negroid country has a european official language as their official language in their country.
You are a typical ignorant zoomali!Kongo people were the first people in Africa to defeat Europeans(portugueses) and portugueses never conquer the kongo empire.Without turks help,portuguese would have enslaved zoomalis.Arabs civilized you and gave you an identity.

This is what an Arab traveller/writer wrote about somali women in the 13th century.

Ibn-al Mujawir(1232)(Tarikh al-Mustabsir)(Guide to Arabia)
*
A word on the shamelessness of Somali women (nisa al-barabir). When a Somali women is quarreling with another, she removes all her clothes, slaps her breasts, claps, jumps up and down and her eyes stare piercingly into the face of the other (tasluq ayna-ha fi wajh sahibat-ha). Both of them are now (as if) sleeping, then bending over; now laughing and crying; then scowling and repressing (their feelings). She plucks out her pubic hair, sprinkling it into the air. She put her finger into her v@gina and makes the other lick her v@ginal juices (min rahim-ha). Or she pushes her finger into her @nus and makes her adversary smell the excrement. Whatever one does, the other does also. I have never seen (anyone more shameless, dirtier and more immodest than the Somalis – may God give them no reward for their being Muslims.*

Back to my regular username.
Sure, I can elaborate. Based on the links I posted earlier of some actual Dogon languages, one might think a word closer to "aru" could be human being or person in a Dogon language (perhaps as some sort of dialect variation), but there would be no reason yet to think that "baru" specifically could be a word for human being in those languages. I don't see why you think it matters yet what "baru" means in some Bantu languages when the issue is to first determine which words mean human being, person, or man in all Dogon languages before proceeding to make comparisons. So far I have seen nothing to suggest that "baru" or "baro" or "bantu" is the word for human beings in a Dogon language, because you have not shown any evidence to support that idea.
In the word "olubaru","aru" cant mean "human beings" coz ,if you break down olubaru=olu(master/god)+(b)+aru(human beings), we wont make any sense coz ,what "b" stands for?Can you elaborate on "aru"?Everything I said about "baru" makes sense coz it consistent with the way bantus languages work:
Muntu(human being )===>bantus(human beings)
muru (human being)====>baru(human beings)
moro (human being)===>baro(human beings)
And all these words exist in various bantus languages!Your word "aru" doesn't exist anywhere!

PhysicsQED ost=34097114:
If "olu" means master or god or something similar in several Bantu languages, what makes you think that this is an exclusively "Bantu" feature which must be indicative of Bantu origin whenever it is seen? You also mentioned "me/mi" as meaning "my" and that is definitely not an exclusively Bantu linguistic feature, as many languages from other African language groups have a similar or identical word for the same thing.
I never said that the words "olu" or "me/mi" exist only in bantus languages.i am aware of the existence of these in some sudano-sahelian languages (yorubas,igbos,etc..).I just used them to prove my point.If "olu" means master/god in dogon language ,why cant "baru" means "human beings".And so far you haven't prove me wrong!

PhysicsQED ost=34097114:
And I don't see what the relevance of a few specific coincidences in names is as far as indicating ethnic origin. Coincidences in names across different ethnic groups and language groups are found all the time in names in Africa and elsquote author=PhysicsQED ost=34097114ewhere. So far nobody has shown that Dogon vocabulary and grammar are closer to Bantu languages than to non Bantu languages.
We can prove that names such as "Hutchinson","markovitz","Jordan"etc.....aren't African names coz the probability of finding an African with these name is zero.Linguistics proofs are statistical or "counting" proofs.If I can found enough common words between two languages,I can conclude that either these two languages are intrinsically related or one language borrowed from the other or these two languages borrowed from each other.if I can found words common only to dogon and bantus languages,why cant I conclude that these two families of language are related.I think more researches are needed to shed light on relations between the dogon and bantus languages.

PhysicsQED ost=34097114:
So one could equally say that some non-Bantu west Africans used to occupy a wider area of Africa than the majority of history books suggest based on some origin stories of origin outside of west Africa, and therefore claim that much of Africa was originally "non-Bantu west African" occupied territory. In which case, one could then just claim that non-Bantu west Africans were responsible for whatever other particular ancient art or relics scattered throughout Africa that one wants to claim.
So what major significance does this have in the context of the Nok? There are lots of ethnic groups in Nigeria, and we don't even know for certain that the ethnic identities of today were solidified/definite back at the time of the Nok culture. And for all we know the ethnic group of the Nok could simply be ancestral to some ethnic groups found today in north central Nigeria.
Since you admit that it is not all Nigerian groups that claim an outside origin, anyone could equally claim that some ethnic groups of Nigeria who claim to be autochthonous were the first to settle in Nigeria or were responsible for the Nok culture. Note that being first to settle in Nigeria and being responsible for the Nok culture are not necessarily the same thing, though you have been associating them as being necessarily connected.
We know for certain that bantus were in Nigeria first coz that is where their origin lies(at least according to generally accepted theories).And we also know that groups like hausas,igbos,yorubas,fulanis,binis,etc...aren't autochthonus to Nigeria as attested by their own oral traditions.And considering the fact that there are no similitudes between Nok art and these different groups artistic productions ,we can conclude that there are no relations whatsoever between Nok and these ethnic groups.Anyway,if there were relations between nok and these racial groups,nok wouldn't have died out just like that.it makes sense to think that nok died out coz those who created it left or were destroyed/absorbed by more powerful groups.And bantus left.....and nok died!

If indeed Olubaru were to mean "sacred men" (which I do not believe that it does, since you have not supplied evidence that it does, and since I have found a different meaning given by a researcher who has studied their culture) then, based on what I posted earlier, it seems much more likely that the word "human beings" in the word "olubaru" would actually be the "aru" part, not "baru" in its entirety, though we would need an actual Dogon person to confirm this. Also, if one is going to attempt to try to find the etymology of words in a language one has no understanding of, wouldn't it be better to consult a native speaker of such a language or at least some sort of dictionary as reference or to use as "proof"?
How can "aru" means "human beings"?
Muntu=human being ===>bantu=human beings
Moro=human being ====>baro=human beings
Muru=human beings ====>baru=human beings
In many bantu words,o=u and t=r ===>mukongo=mokongo;moswahili=muswahili; kamerhe=kamete ....etc ,,,
The kinirwanda for example makes extensive use of "r" whereas the kikongo replaces "r" by "t"
The "olu" prefix is used in many bantu words and means master/god .For example in the word olueme, olu=god and eme=judgement.This implies that olueme=ordeal/ordalie in French.
Olume/olumi===>olu(god/master) + me/mi(my)===>my god/my master
I don't know where you get the idea that "aru" can means " human beings".Can you elaborate on that?
Moreover,dogon toponyms such as badiangara/badiagana,sangha,bongo are mostly found in bantu areas.Simple coincidence?I doubt!It is impossible to find a west African with a name like badiagana.You can always try!
I always take with suspicion European historians traduction of African words!

PhysicsMHD:
So were the ancestors of the Fang people of Cameroon and Gabon responsible for the art? Because I've been looking at Fang art, and I don't see the resemblances with Nok art, whereas there are at least a few resemblances between Nok art and some other west African art.
I didn't say fangs were the creators of the Nok culture!I refered to fangs oral history to show that bantus used to occupy a wider area of nigera that what the majority of history books suggest.As far as I know,almost all Nigerian ethnic groups(hausas,fulanis,igbos,yorubas,binis,etc....) claim an outside origin and their oral histories suggest they weren't the first settlers in Nigeria.The question is who where the first settlers?We know for sure that bantus were in Nigeria coz that where their origin seems to be.And if bantus went on to conquer half of Africa,I cant see them not occupying the whole Nigeria.As far I am concerned,Nok culture fell victim of a more powerful and vicious external force and got destroyed/absorbed .I cant see that much similitudes between nok esthetic and Yoruba or bini esthetics"Kongo people were very famous for producing all types of clothes,but they lost all that technology when they started trading with portugueses.So the Nok case is not a one off in Africa history.

So are there any ancient sculptures that resemble the Nok sculptures or even ancient terracotta sculptures that have been found in any of the actual Bantu language areas? There are even other ancient terracotta sculptures besides those of the Nok culture that have been found in Nigeria, but I'm not aware of ancient (by ancient I mean something like 2000+ years old or close to that age) terracotta sculptures that have been found in Bantu language areas, so it would be nice to be enlightened about that.
Which group of Dogon uses "baru" for human beings? There are multiple Dogon groups. For example, none of these four groups (Walo, Beni, Nanga, Jamsay) use that term
So which group of Dogon are you referring to when you say they use "baru" for human beings?
1-I suggest you to google "dogons and olubaru".Olubaru=olu(sacred)+baru(men/human beings).These people initiated to dogons mysteries.

2-You cant contest the fact that bantus were the first settlers in the whole niger area!The Fangs(cameroun and gabon) oral history places their origin in northern part of Nigeria and it talks of terrible battle the fangs waged against people riding on top of strange animals(hausas or fulanis I guess! ).The fact that the Nok civilization suddenly disappeared suggests to me that it was overwhelmed/destroyed /absorbed by external forces.As for the terracottas,if bantus could build the oldest furnaces in Africa,there is no reason they could make terracotta figures.After all,there is not so much talent needed to do so!

Haya people
The Haya people of Tanzania have been linked to one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs of all time: the invention of steel. Archaeologist Peter Schmidt discovered through a literalist combination of archaeology and oral tradition that the Haya had been forging steel for around 2000 years.

This discovery was made accidentally while Schmidt was learning about the history of the Haya via their oral tradition. He was led to a tree which was said to rest on the spot of an ancestral furnace used to forge steel. A group of elders were later tasked with the challenge of recreating the forges.

At this time they were the only ones to remember the practice, which had fallen into disuse due in part to the abundance of steel flowing into the country from foreign sources. In spite of the lack of practice the elders were able to create a furnace using mud and grass which when burned provided the carbon needed to transform the iron into steel. Later investigation of the land yielded 13 other furnaces similar in design to the re-creation set up by the elders. This process is very similar to open hearth furnace steelmaking.

These furnaces were carbon-dated and were found to be as old as 2000 years. Steel of similar quality did not appear in Europe until several centuries later.[5]

I think it would be very difficult to talk about bantus with west africans since no bantus live there, if there was any exchange then it would have happened before the migration in the pre-sahara period when it was believed to be a lush green paradise.
Your realise that bantus were the first settlers in the whole niger area.They created the Nok civilization in Nigeria.All other ethnic groups of sudano-sahelian origin(hausas,yorubas,igbos,fulanis..etc..) are later settlers .I am also 90% certain that the dogons are bantus who mixed with sudano-sahelian people.Dogons use the word Baru for human beings!There is nothing more bantu than that!And dogon culture is totally different from all the surrounding cultures (mandes,fulanis,bambaras....etc..).I think that for some unknown reasons,people try to restrain the impact and extent of the bantus expansion.I guess it hard for some people to admit that bantus are the true essence of Africa!

I've been laughing at people's comments here. While some have given valid answers, others still see this little piece as a puzzle. The answer is UNDEFINED! 0/0 can be any number (real or complex), provided you guided by a set of constraints within a feasible solution space.
Africa is a lost cause grin grin grin

Not necessarily. Many bantu languages use other prefixes like "isi", "ki" etc. I'm not going out my way to disprove linguists that have studied languages more in depth than ordinary people.
some basics of bantu linguistics:

Muntu/moto=====>bantu/bato
mukongo/mokongo===>bakongo
muhindi/mohindi====>bahindi
muhausa/mohausa===>bahausa

I=ki=chi=li=gi and sometimes =e

itambala=kitambala=chitambala=litambala...etc..=women headgear

chikaya=kikaya=ikaya=likaya= plant leave

You use the prefix "isi/esi/osi( plurial asi/basi/agi/besi) mainly to express somebody origin.

isikongo/esikongo/igikongo==>somebody of kongo origin
isikuyu/igikuyu/esikuyu====>somebody of kuyu origin.To call person a kikuyu doesn't make any sense coz kikuyu is the language spoken by asikuyu/agikuyu(those of kuyu origin);the kikongo is the language spoken by asikongo/agikongo/basikongo/besikongo.Therefore there are no kikuyus in Kenya,there are agikuyu/asikuyu/besikuyu or kuyus in English.

etc....etc

The op didn't prove anything coz 0/0 is indefinite!That means It can be be anything eg 2,1/2...etc.......!That is why,for consistency,0/0 is set as indefinite ,otherwise we could have 0/0=0(O/10-N WITHT N==>INFINITE) and 0/0=1(10-N/10-N WHEN N=====>INFINTE).

Because professional linguists have studied it the languages and determined that Bamoun and Bamileke aren't Bantu languages. I will admit that African Language families are understudied.

Show me data from other sources. The "Mzungu" are practically the only people that are doing in depth studies of Languages. I don't see any Africans doing any in depth studies on African languages. On the contrary. Most Africans failed to make their own writing script or adopt a writing script. In fact if it wasn't for the "mzungu" most languages would never have been deciphered or written.
You can blame the "mzungu" for a lot of things but studying and codifying African languages isn't one of them.
Why cant you bring some concrete evidences to back up your claims?Cant you think by yourself?
Bamileke in kikongo means those(ba) who live in the swamp(leki).Maybe you should ask a real bamileke what the word "bamileke" means!Even the simple usage of the prefix "ba" already suggests a bantu language.Come up with concrete examples to back up your claims instead of relying on some very old and incorrect theories.

Simple. The Bamileke and Bamoun/Bamum don't speak a Bantu Language. Both ethnic groups have some cultural and linguistic links with bantu but not enough to make them bantu.
Can you actually prove that or are you drawing your conclusions from some deprecated classifications?What makes you think that both the bamileke and the bamoun aren't bantu languages?As far I am concerned,the bamoun and the bamileke are archaic forms of common bantu languages mixed with some foreign influences.

Mfom / Mfon=king in bamoun or bamileke
Mfum/mfumu/ mkun=king in kikongo

I like camerounese people for their attachment to their cultures.The video below is so beautiful!Unlike my Congolese people who threw away all their fantastic heritage and adopted whites ways, camerouneses still have a lot richness in their cultures.Bamouns and bamilekes are quite fantastic people!
