The Nigeria police decided to do something concerning the numerous complaints against SARS.

The police on Thursday June 14, released a list of contacts where victims of SARS can lay their complaints either harassed or extorted by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

In a statement released by police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, he said:

“Aggrieved members of the public who have any complaint in the past or present of violation of their rights by any Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) personnel anywhere in the country should report through any of the following channels for investigation and further actions.”

Couple Visiting Portugal Falls to Their Deaths While Taking Seaside Selfie

Michael Kearns, 33-year-old and Louise Benson 37-year-old who went on a vacation in Portugal reportedly plummeted to their deaths, possibly while snapping seaside selfies on a seaside wall. Authorities say they( the couple ) were either taking a selfie or retrieving a lost item.

The man and woman, one British and the other Australian, were found on a beach in the town of Ericeira after they reportedly fell early Tuesday.


Portuguese tabloid Correio da Manha reported the wall was about 98 feet tall.

Australian authorities said they were providing assistance to the family of the Australian citizen and coordinating with British authorities regarding the other victim.

Their bodies were first discovered by fishermen who thought they were sleeping, and later by a beach cleaner who realized they were dead.


The couple had reportedly left Australia to see the world months earlier, and had recently attended a wedding in Portugal.

According to local reports, this is not the first time tourists have fallen from the wall, and it is not the only such incident of a selfie turned deadly, or nearly did.

In 2015, a tourist died after falling down a flight of stairs while reportedly trying to take a selfie at the famed Taj Mahal site in India.

And just this past April, a woman taking a selfie on the catwalk of the Forest Hill Bridge in Sacramento, Calif., slipped and fell 60 feet, a fall that could have killed her. Miraculously, the unidentified woman survived the fall from California’s tallest bridge.

Last month, the body of a 25-year-old Washington man was discovered in a pool above Palouse Falls in a state park after he plunged off a cliff while taking selfies with his girlfriend, authorities said.

The attack in Dutsen-Wake and Oho Village in Birnin-Magaji local government area Zamfara State recorded the death of 10 people which was confirmed by the Police Command in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Muhammad Shehu, who gave the confirmation to newsmen in Gusau, yesterday, said:

“We received distress call yesterday (Tuesday) that the bandits attacked the area around 10 p.m. We quickly responded by mobilising policemen to the area, led by Area Commander, Kaura-Namoda Police Area Command and Divisional Police Officer of Birnin-Magaji Division.

When they arrived the area, the bandits had already fled to Rugu forest bordering Zamfara with Katsina state. They discovered 10 dead bodies killed by the bandits, seven in Dutsen-Wake and three in Oho village.”

He also said the Zamfara State police command had already mobilised security personnel to maintain peace in the area.

According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson, is collaborating with the Katsina State police command to track the perpetrators of the attack.

He then urged people in the state to always cooperate and give information on security to police and other security agencies.

Achilles,a deaf Russian cat, who allegedly has psychic powers, has predicted the winner of the first game in the 2018 World Cup, set to kick off on June 14.

Achilles, lives at the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, was given two plates of cat food to determine the opening match’s winner. One plate was marked with a Russian flag, while the other had a Saudi flag.

After a moment of hesitation, Achilles chose the Russian plate, the Associated Press reports. Following the choice, the cat was dressed in a Russian uniform for a photoshoot.

Hermitage veterinarian Anna Kondratyeva said Achilles “loves his motherland and couldn’t vote otherwise.”

Achilles became known for having psychic abilities after correctly guessing the winners of multiple matches during the Confederations Cup last year in Russia.

Morgan Geyser, 15, pleaded guilty to attempting first-degree murder in 2014.


Morgan Geyser, a Wisconsin teenager who attempted to murder her 12-year-old friend, was ordered to spend 40 years in a mental institution by a Waukesha County court on Thursday, CNN reports. Geyser intended to sacrifice her friend to win the favor of an online fictional character called "Slenderman."

Geyser pleaded guilty to the murder charge last October to avoid jail time. She was deemed not responsible for her actions due to mental illness. During testimony, expert witnesses said Geyser was making psychological progress.


However, Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren emphasized that the crime was premeditated when giving in his decision. "We can't forget what we are dealing with," said Bohren. "And we can't forget that this was an attempted murder."

Geyser and another friend, Anissa Weier, attempted to kill Payton Leutner in 2014 in Wisconsin. All three girls were 12 years old at the time. After stabbing Leutner 19 times, Geyser and Weier left the victim for dead, but she was found by a cyclist and recovered at a hospital. Geyser and Weier told authorities they committed the crime to become "proxies" to the Slenderman, whom they believed would hurt their families.

Weier was sentenced to 25 years in a mental hospital last December. "I want everyone involved to know I deeply regret everything that happened that day," Weier told the court, according to CBS. "I know nothing I say is going to make this right, nothing I say is going to fix what I broke. I'll do whatever I have to do to make sure this doesn't happen again."

Prosecutors were pushing for Geyser to spend the maximum possible period – 40 years – in a mental hospital, according to the Chicago Tribune.

An 83-year-old woman, Malama Sa’adatu Isyaku, was killed in a fire incident on Saturday morning, around 4:50am in Kwajala village of Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa.


DSP Abdu Jinjiri, the spokesman for the Police Command in Jigawa, confirmed the incident in Dutse.

He said:

“Today the Police received report that a burning fire wood was kept inside the room of one Sa’adatu Isyaku aged 83 of Kwajala village in Dutse LGA.



“She kept the fire wood burning in order to keep the room warm.



“And as result, she was engulfed by the fire, burnt and died on the spot.”

He explained that the body was removed and taken to hospital by the Police where she was confirmed dead by a doctor.

The spokesman added that the remains of the deceased were handed over to her relatives for burial.

Jinjiri warned the public against indiscriminate and careless use of fire, particularly during the harmattan.

The Police arrested two men in Lagos for allegedly engaging in an illegal registration of candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Lagos State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr Sunday Aladegbaye, confirmed the arrest in an interview on Sunday in Lagos.


He said:



“Two men and co-owners of a computer-based test centre, Vision Computer Academy, were on Saturday night arrested for allegedly engaging in the illegal registration of candidates for the 2018 UTME.

The Academy is located at No. 1, Ganiyu Adeboyejo Close, Eputu London, Eputu Bus Stop, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

The arrest, carried out by men of the Nigerian Police from Adeniji Adele Police Station, Lagos Island, was made possible after a tip-off from members of the public.

We were informed that the Lagos Island Primary School, Sura was allegedly being used for the illegal registration exercise.



These suspects, whose CBT centre was legally accredited for the exercise, had moved a router and computer systems to an illegal location to engage in fraudulent practices and extortion of candidates.”

NAN reports that the board had postponed 2018 UTME mock earlier scheduled for between Jan. 22 and Jan. 24, to the first week of February. The board said that the postponement was as a result of the strike held by the Non-teaching Labour Unions of universities.

The board explained that many of the accredited centres were located in the institutions where the strike is taking place nationwide.
