----APC candidate Obaseki promises 200,000 jobs if elected as Governor, but can not show evidence of creating at least 100 jobs as the current Head of Edo State Economic Team for over 4 years. PDP candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu yesterday lamented what he described as the APC’s poor job creation ideas. Addressing traders and others at the Evbareke Motor Spare Parts Market in the state capital, he assured them of running a humane government if elected. Berating the APC governorship candidate for not getting his acts together, he narrated a recent episode during an APC rally in Orhionmwon, where Mr. Godwin Obaseki was said to have asked the crowd if they have jobs, and they answered in the negative; an action Ize-Iyamu claimed drew the anger of the outgoing governor. Ize-Iyamu who said Oshiomhole had no record of creating or employing people, promised to be different if elected. He said it was lamentable that the road leading to the market which was constructed with interlocking tiles by the PDP regime has been left to rot by the APC regime led by Governor Adams Oshiomhole. After confirming from the traders that none of them benefitted from the Bank of Industry and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN loans channeled through the state government and meant for small and medium scale business persons; Ize-Iyamu said his governorship would change the tide in their favor by November 2016. Over the past couple of days comedian Basketmouth has been quite vocal about his disappointment in the present government. Some of his social media followers lashed out at him saying he was one of the entertainers that falsely endorsed the government but in a lengthy post Basketmouth has cleared the air. He wrote: I usually try not to pay attention to comments from people that assume stuff or those who judge others based on perceptions. However I have also come to agree that when lies are said often enough, they begin to sound like truths. So I think it’s best I use this medium to clear the issue of “campaigns” and “support” now. While many of my colleagues, friends and family members campaigned for the PDP, APC and various candidates during the last elections (and I cannot emphasize enough that it is their RIGHT to do so), I never campaigned for Buhari or any other politician. ALL those saying that I did should do everything within their power to “THINK”. I know thinking can be a very difficult task for some but trust me, it can be a painless and enlightening process. THINK of when I ever “CAMPAIGNED” for BUHARI!!.. Indeed I personally HOPED that he would win the election and perhaps that was evident in my “body language” and I am happy he won. But I did not campaign for him. Nigeria was in a bad place by the end of the last administration and it was only a matter of time before we would have suffered the plights of Brazil and Venezuela. Truth of the matter is that I would have voted ANYONE that could speak 2 words of English against GEJ and that’s strictly based on the amount of greed and selfishness we witnessed from members of his administration in the 6 years that he sat on the rock. They put us in this Septic tank we are in right now…..well, that and the oil price downfall amongst other things. I have said it numerous times that I am not a politician hence I try not to dabble in politics. However I think a few people interpret crying out against injustice by the one as campaign for the other. When the Late FELA KUTI and BOB MARLEY cried out against the injustices in their days, were they being partisan? Of course not. They were just being HUMAN! I am forever grateful to God for blessing me with a flourishing career, a beautiful family, food on my table and small change in my pocket. However I see too many people everyday who have not been so lucky to travel and see the way things are outside Nigeria/Africa. I have seen how GOVERNMENT can influence and affect the lives of the downtrodden positively. I am still patient, praying and hoping that PMB can turn Nigeria’s economy around and help strengthen Nigeria’s social justice system. Not so I can cheer him and be vindicated that I was right and some were wrong, but so my friends, family members and well-wishers who haven’t been favored as others can have renewed hope in our country Nigeria and the brotherhood we have enjoyed in this generation. Even the United States went through a tough recession in 2008 and with some patience they have been able to turn that around. So long story short, did I campaign for PMB? NO! Do I support and PRAY that his administration should succeed and improve the life of the common man, increase security, food, jobs, infrastructure, quality of education, healthcare and every other area that will make Nigerians proud wherever they may find themselves? YES!! On the other hand, should he and his party fail, we are all free to cast our votes for the next man come 2019 and I shall be exercising that right. No need for quarrel. http://dailypost.ng/dailystar/2016/08/09/never-campaigned-buhari-comedian-basketmouth/?utm_source=dlvr.it_dp1&utm_medium=facebook https://www.bellanaija.com/2016/08/i-never-campaigned-for-buhari-or-any-other-politician-basketmouth-responds-to-backlash-from-fans/

—FOR the second time in one week, pensioners in Edo State have grounded commercial actives at Kings Square and other adjoining streets in protest against the non-payment of their pension arrears ranging from 10 to 42 months. ---The pensioners, who brandished placards with inscriptions, such as “Edo State retirees of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 are hungry and abandoned,” “Comrade Governor please pay us our monthly pensions and no vacuum in government,” “Open Pension Board/Bureau,” among others, marched through Kings Square, Airport Road and Ezoti Street in Benin City, causing traffic gridlock on the major roads. Addressing newsmen at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Secretariat, state Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Edo State Chapter, Pullen Noruwa, said that the suffering of the pensioners had become unbearable as most of them could no longer meet their needs. He added that they had decided to take to the streets to let the public know that they are being owed by the state government. He said the pensioners were aware that the governor’s tenure would end in November this year and that it would be better if they were paid as a parting gift. He said: “We are pleading. Oshiomole is leaving the stage. We want him to pay our entitlements before he leaves office. Let him use it as a parting gift to us. “Some of us receive less than N2,000 per month. This is as a result of no- harmonization of our pensions. You will find out that those of us who retired in 2000, 1996, what they were given us at retirement is what they are still earning today. “You may have known that somebody died during the screening. That person was on less than N10,000 a month because his pension was not harmonized.” He said that one of the reasons for the delay in the payment of their arrears was the absence of Pensions Board. He called on the state government to harmonize the pension of the 1996 and 2000 retirees to enable them meet their financial needs. The APC may have adopted Hon. Philip Shaibu as running mate to Mr Godwin Obaseki ahead of the September 10, 2016 gubernatorial election. According to information available to Urhokpota Reporters, Hon Philip Shaibu, a member of the House of Representatives who is from the immediate constituency of the outgoing governor, Adams Oshiomhole, is the presumptive nominee for Deputy Governor. Phillip Shaibu is under trial for forgery and perjury. He was formerly the Majority Leader in the House of Assembly, Edo State, from where he went to become a member of the National Assembly. Until his emergence as member of the house of assembly of Edo State, Philip Shaibu was formerly a president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) where he battled with allegations of cultism and violence. The presumption of Hon Philip Shaibu from Edo north, precisely Etsako, has been creating bad blood among APC stalwarts and supporters in both Edo Central and Edo north. The Edo central people believe that the principle of equity and fair play indicate that they should have the position of deputy governor after the Edo north has held the position of the the governor for eight years, and previously held the position of deputy governor for eight years. They fear that that their area has been systematically marginalized and politically emasculated by Adams Oshiomhole and the APC for too long. The tripodal arrangement in Edo State had been such that each of the three senatorial districts was to produce either of the three most powerful positions in the state; Governor, Deputy Governor and Speaker. Edo North produced the Governor, Edo South produced the Deputy Governor and Edo Central was to produce the Speaker. That was the principle that saw the emergence of Hon Victor Edoro as Speaker until the impeachment, which many in the APC believe that the governor was instrumental to despite his drama to the contrary. This has angered the people of Edo Central and many are set to join forces with the PDP because they feel aggrieved about their perceived marginalisation. The APC is faced with a difficult task of assuaging the feelings of the people ahead of the election, especially now that they have a relatively unpopular candidate and also have decided to choose their deputy from Etsako area to the chagrin of others in Edo Central, Akoko-Edo and Owan areas. One strategy of the APC is to return the seat of the Speaker of the House of Assembly to Edo Central ahead of the election and after the election, may retrieve it from them. According to an insider within the APC, 30 million naira has been offered to the sitting speaker for her to relinquish her position to the impeached former speaker or another member of the House of Assembly member from Edo Central to assuage the feelings of the Edo Central people ahead of the poll. She is expected to announce her resignation on or before July 15, 2016. Some APC youths in Ekpoma, Irrua and Uromi who spoke with our field correspondents have vowed to punish the APC with protest votes should the party not field any candidate from Esanland. “Even if Adams Oshiomhole likes, let him reinstate Edoro as Speaker or even impeach Odubu and appoint an Esan man, we are not as foolish as he thinks we are. We have rejected him, we will reject him and we shall continue to reject the APC in Esanland.” Mr. Odion Ikharedia, a community leader in Irrua said. Meanwhile, communities in Owan and Akoko-Edo (three of the six local government areas of Edo north) are unhappy with the APC with their plan to foist Philip Shaibu on the people, denying them of a chance to be empowered in the scheme of things in Edo north. Some have vowed to punish the APC with protest votes should the APC decide to select an Edo north Deputy Governor candidate who is from Etsako. Our reporters spoke with one of the ward chairmen of the APC in Akoko-Edo “Oshiomhole dare not do such a thing. We in Akoko-Edo and Owan are we not Edo north? Is it only Etsako that is in Edo North? We are even larger in landmass and population than Etsako. Oghiadomhe was from Etsako, he was Deputy Governor from 1999 to 2007. Oshiomhole is from Etsako, he was Governor from 2008 to hopefully 2016. Now they want to bring another Etsako man to occupy Edo north slot? Is that fair? That will not happen, I swear. We will resist that plan totally and I can assure you that we will prove to them that we in Akoko-Edo are also human beings. We will support the PDP, if an Etsako person emerges as the deputy governor candidate of our party.” The ward chairman said. The APC is yet to announce their decision on the Deputy Governor candidate. http://www.urhokpotareporters.com/2016/07/08/philip-shaibu-to-be-obasekis-running-mate-as-violently-corrupt-edoror-to-be-returned-speaker/

Supporters of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, have described as false, baseless and unfounded the allegation by the State Chairman of the party, Mr. Anslem Ojezua, that Oyegun mutilated and deleted 115 names from the delegate list of the recent APC governorship primaries. The group described Ojezua’s outburst as an unbridled insult, as they reminded him of the process he passed through before he became the State Chairman of APC. In a statement in Benin City yesterday by Secretary-General of the group known as “Oyegunarians”, signed by Mr. Osazee Okundia, the group stated accused Ojezua of insulting Oyegun. “We read with grave concern, the unwarranted attack on our National Leader, Chief John Odigie Oyegun. Amongst other insults are the spurious allegations that the APC National Chairman mutilated the Delegates list that was used for the just concluded APC Governorship Primaries in Edo State. Ojezua also threw caution to the dogs by alluding that Chief Oyegun deleted 115 names from the Delegates list, in addition to accusing him of working to thwart the process, all of which are false, unfounded and baseless! We believe that Ojezua’s conduct is akin to that of his pay master, who has no respect for elders! We also believe that Anslem Ojezua is incompetent, and lacks the mental capacity to function as Party Chairman. Hence Governor Oshiomole has practically been doubling as the Party’s State Chairman since Ojezua stepped in to act.” http://www.urhokpotareporters.com/2016/07/08/apc-in-disarray-as-oyegun-tackles-ojezua/

The All Progressives Party (APC) has commissioned twenty one people to hurriedly produce an agenda and manifesto for their campaign after the PDP has repeatedly criticized them for not having an agenda or manifesto ahead of the Edo 2016 election. According to a member of the Godwin Obaseki campaign organisation, who pleaded anonymity, she said that the APC has commissioned twenty one persons to hurriedly draft a manifesto which they intend to term “Social Contract with Edo People”. Our source said that she was supposed to be a member of the committee but because of certain issues she was not willing to disclose her name was removed from the list of members of the committee that was constituted on July 4, 2016. The committee, according to our reliable source, was given until July 15th to produce a document. “Our manifesto is based on the SIMPLE agenda of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu but with substantial modifications and no mention of the word “agenda. As from 15th of July, maybe earlier, you will begin to see the APC with their own manifesto, thanks to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his campaign team for jolting our organisation to do the right thing. They thought they can go to election without a printed promise, times have changed.” She said. http://www.urhokpotareporters.com/2016/07/08/revealed-plagiarism-at-play-as-apc-copies-pdps-simple-agenda-to-release-their-own-manifesto-next-week/
