PoliticsRe: Edo 2016; Declare Me Winner, Ize-iyamu Tells Tribunal by sosanova:
[b]This is Oshiomole vs Osunbor 2007 happening all over again

PDP doesn't want cancellation of the election, but PDP wants the tribunal to order a re-count of the ballot papers at INEC office and compare with the fictitious and fake results and figures that INEC announced.

The best APC can do now is to prevent the tribunal from ordering a recount of the ballot papers in the court and the results is compared with the results that INEC announced.

Even APC chieftains and supporters in across Edo state are aprehensive over the inevitable and impending tribunal order which will order INEC to bring all the ballot papers used in the election and be counted in Court and compared to the result that INEC annouced.

It will be very hard for APC and Oshiomole to defend the figures that INEC announced to the whole world as the final result from Edo election as against what APC and PDP representatives saw and inspected at INEC office in Benin City last week.

Almost a month after the election wad conducted, INEC is still yet to upload the results of what they announced to the whole world on INEC website, the results INEC announced to the whole world is very contradictory, such instances is; several parties whose names where not found on the ballot papers on the election day and the ballot papers at the INEC office but these parties were allocated votes in the results that INEC announced.

Both PDP and APC supporters Who various party representatives inspected the election materials last week after the tribunal granted both parties permission to do so are speaking are already speaking in hush tones across Benin City that the results sheets and ballots papers at INEC office benin city was contrary to what INEC annouced. PoliticsINEC ad-hoc staff storm APC Secretariat In Benin Over unpaid election money by sosanova(op):
BENIN – SOME protesters, who allegedly participated in the just concluded Edo State governorship election and claimed to be ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday, stormed the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Airport Road in Benin City, to protest what they claimed was the non fulfilment of certain promises made to them by the party

The INEC adhoc staff were last Friday at INEC office to protest to INEC for their balance but were dispersed by the police.

.

However, state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Godwin Erhahon, while reacting to the claim, said “We at the APC, especially members of the State Executive are not aware of such commitment between the party and the ad-hoc staff. “We have asked those who are complaining to let us know who made the pledge on behalf of the party. We don’t know anything about it and by the time we know those behind it, we will be able to react. We know that ad-hoc staff are staff of INEC and not the party. So, I symphatize with the protesters.” Also, the party (APC), state Chairman, Anslem Ojezua, claimed that the invasion of the party secretariat was by persons he described as hoodlums allegedly sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. According to him, “They claimed to be ad-hoc staff of INEC and that they came to collect money we were owing them for the just concluded governorship election.” The protesters, who were mainly youths, gathered in front of the premises of the APC secretariat about 11a.m., and insisted that they must meet with a certain leader of the party before they would depart. They said that they decided to protest because of an alleded unfulfilled assurance given them that they would be rewarded after the September 28, election. After waiting for about two hours, some members of the group threatened to spill the beans if their demands were not met.

PoliticsBuhari My Husband Doesn't Know Half Of People He Selected-aisha Buhari by sosanova(op): 7:47am On Oct 12, 2016
Wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, has flayed alleged moves by some powerful forces to divide All Progressives Congress, APC, saying they could not countermand the mandate vested in her husband by 15 million Nigerians. Mrs. Buhari was quoted in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service as also saying that Nigerians, who voted for the President, knew those causing problems for the administration.

Responding to comments that those who canvassed the change mantra had been left out of government, she said: “This worries us a lot now, because they believe they are the ones who suffered, but are nowhere today. “Those who didn’t do anything who don’t even have voters’ cards are the ones in position, doing everything.” The President’s wife was also quoted to have said: “What I am afraid for them is the rebellion of 15 million people.” Responding to a question on whether her husband had sufficient knowledge of the identity of those at the centre of the controversies, she said: “Whether he knows or not, those who voted for him know. “He can see. Among all the people he selected, if he is asked among 50 people, he doesn’t know 45. I don’t know them despite staying with him for 25 years.”

PoliticsBuhari Places Vice President Osibanjo Under Close Intense Security Watch by sosanova(op): 7:05pm On Oct 11, 2016
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo may have come under intense watch over the brewing face off between President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Osinbajo is caught in the cross-fire between the Presidency and acclaimed national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tinubu, over who may have influenced his nomination as the country’s number two citizen.

He found himself in a rather awkward situation soon after Buhari’s biographer, Professor John Paden claimed in his book, “Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria”, that President Buhari chose him (Osinbajo) as a running mate in the 2015 elections in spite of strong resistance from Tinubu.

The assertion has been vehemently refuted by Tinubu’s media team, with the strongest comments coming from Secretary to Lagos State government, Tunji Bello, who described Paden’s literary exercise as full of “mischief”, while reaffirming that Osinbajo was simply a creation of Bola Tinubu. No harsh words have been spared by others, particularly Yoruba leaders and interest groups, who have rallied around Tinubu in what is now an open confrontation with the presidency.

Read also: Niger Delta militants want to colonise Nigeria’s economy, Buhari asserts

Sources close to the seat of power tell Ripples Nigeria that the warmth that pervaded the ties between the President and his Vice in the early days of the administration have long disappeared. Indications to this effect emerged when the presidency began to notice that politicians were congregating more around the office of the Vice President than the President. Professor Paden even acknowledged this much in the book about Buhari, one reviewer noted.

“Naturally, the relationship between the duo is now a measured one. The Presidency is visibly shaken,” our source said.

The unease is palpable and the concern of Buhari’s close aides, we gather, is to keep sealed lips and ensure that sensitive and strategic matters pertaining to Mr President are treated with top secrecy, especially now that Osinbajo’s disposition has become increasingly questionable.

The cold war between Tinubu and Buhari, investigations show, is festering without let. The deepening schism is aggravated by jostling over 2019 elections. Though the President has refused to betray any emotions, close watchers are convinced that he is keen on pursuing a second term in office. The Southwest remains a very critical bloc and it is argued that his ambition may go up in smoke if Tinubu withdraws his support.

An aide admits that Tinubu is clearly bitter about the loss in Ondo guber primary and is convinced that the APC Chairman, Odigie-Oyegun, is only fighting a proxy war for Buhari. Having been described as “reckless”, and with the doors shut against him, Tinubu is reportedly activating his other political platforms namely Alliance for Democracy (AD) and Action Alliance (AA) for subsequent electoral battles, if the need arises. His game plan, though clandestine at the moment, includes courting long time enemies like Governor Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode to stem Buhari’s advances in the Southwest.

Inside sources acknowledge that as the face-off deepens, Vice President Osinbajo may increasingly find himself distanced from his immediate boss who speaks sparingly but keeps his jokers close to his chest. Many doubt he will retain his positions if the battle between Buhari and Tinubu gets dirtier.

PoliticsAPC Knows It Is About To Lose Edo Governorship Election-pdp by sosanova(op): 10:39am On Sep 08, 2016
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the advice of security agencies to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on postponement of the forthcoming Edo governorship election is an attempt to scuttle the country’s democracy.

The department of state service (DSS) and the police had advised INEC to postpone the governorship election, citing security concerns.

But in a statement on Wednesday, Dayo Adeyeye, spokesman of the party, called on PDP members and supporters to remain law-abiding and stay “alert on this calculated attempt at scuttling our hard-earned democracy”.

He accused APC of seeking postponement of the poll, “having seen the indices of losing the election to the PDP”.

Adeyeye said it was “lamentable” to hear that the security agencies would say that the governorship election could not hold in a state where the president and all the All Progresives Congress (APC) held leaders and members had an uninterrupted rally
.

“Our attention has been drawn to the shocking breaking news of the advice by the DSS and the police to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the Saturday, September 10, 2016 gubernatorial election in Edo state on excuse of insurgency alert,” the statement by Adeyeye read.

“We are taken aback on this advice, coming a day after the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was present at the Mega Rally of his party, the APC in Benin city, which was concluded without any hitch.

“It is on record that INEC recently conducted a hitch-free senatorial by-election in Borno state, which is a high point of insurgency in the country but the security agencies saw no reason to call off the election.

“We are calling on the President, Muhammadu Buhari to caution the security agencies and direct them to provide full security, and also to desist doing anything that will jeopardize this forthcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.

“We are equally counting on INEC not to succumb to this false alarm by acting independently and holding election as scheduled.

“We hope that this advice from the security agencies are not in concert with the APC of having seen the indices of losing the Edo State Gubernatorial Election to the PDP.”

PoliticsWe have Seen This Economic Recession Ahead Over 5 Years Ago - Lai Mohammed by sosanova(op): 10:24am On Sep 08, 2016
Over half a decade ago, the party recognised the faulty structure of Nigeria’s economy, says Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture.

Over half a decade ago, the party recognised the faulty structure of Nigeria’s economy, says Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture.

The minister on Friday epitomised the honesty of the present government and assured Nigerians that they would never be kept in the dark no matter the situation.

He further noted that the recent report of the National Bureau of Statistic (NBS) is not all doom and gloom.

Hear Him:

“Recession is not an event, it is a process. We knew more than five years ago that the country is heading towards recession because the structure of our economy is faulty. Faulty in the sense that for many years we have relied in one product, crude oil.

“What I can assure you is that we are on top of the situation and we are confident that the second half of the year will be better than the previous. Some of the things that impacted on this first two quarters were the acute fall in the price of crude oil.

“One thing we cannot take away from this government is that it is open, honest and will not keep Nigerians in the dark. About a month ago, the Minister of Finance actually told all of us that we are already technically in recession.

“Because of the crash in the cost of crude oil, we lost about 60 per cent of our earnings. Crude oil that used to sell for about 100 dollars per barrel, today we are hovering between 40 and 45 dollars per barrel.

“The 2016 budget projected 2.2 million barrels per day at 38 dollars. But because of the activities of the militants in the Niger Delta region, we are down to 1.2 to 1.4 million per barrels a day. “We have lost about one third of production capacity.

“Combine all these together we are heading for recession especially when there is no reserve to cushion the effects.
