An FCT High Court Seating in Apo, Abuja, has struck-out the Motion filed by the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff that prayed it to set aside the Court Judgment that nullified the process that produced him as National Chairman.


In his Judgment delivered on Friday July 8, 2016, Justice Valentine Ashi of the FCT High Court struck-out the Motion for lack of merit and abuse of Court Processes.

For the record, the same Judge, Justice Valentine Ashi on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 delivered a Judgment nullifying the Amendment of Article 47 (6) of the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2014 which Senator Sheriff claimed to have taken effect at the Special National Convention in December of the same year that produced Ali Modu Sheriff’s predecessor, H.E. Alh. Amadu Adamu Muazu; thereby nullifying the appointment of Senator Sheriff by the 68th National Executive Committee Meeting of the PDP.
While delivering the Judgment, Justice Valentine Ashi urged politicians to learn to accept defeat and not to attempt to use the Court to achieve goals they failed to score in the political field. Let the public also recall that another Judge last week described Senator Sheriff and Co as “busy bodies”.

The purported Amendment of Article 47(6) amongst others of the PDP’s Constitution in the 2014 Special National Convention of the Party has been a source of contention and the Party had brought the matter before an FCT High Court earlier in the year.


Responding to the Judgment, the Chief Spokesperson of the Party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said, “The Party welcomed the development and reinstated the call by the PDP to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to immediately effect the arrest and prosecution of the former National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen and their co-travelers for Contempt of Court”.


The Party further called on its members nationwide to remain steadfast and continue to support the PDP National Caretaker Committee led by H.E. Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, CON who has been confirmed by the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on the 4th of July, 2016 as the only authentic and legal Working Committee of the Party.

The Chairman of NUJ Edo state has stated that the NUJ shall be with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu during the swearing in as Governor of Edo State.

Speaking at a media parley with the Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Chairman of the NUJ in Edo state, Mr Roland Osakue, while welcoming the PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, stated that the NUJ has confidence in the leadership capacity of the PDP candidate adding that the Union shall be with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu during and after the election and also “at the swearing in as governor”.

[size=13pt][b]As the election campaign in Edo state gets into top gear, many are posed to say whatever that comes out of their mouth, either for relevance, sheer interest or mere foolishness. But the truth remains that no matter they tend to rubbish the personality of the people's candidate, in vain will their "bangles cast."
It is not in my person to dwell on this, knowing full well that the person I support is the ideal person that can bring about the needed change. The state needs a leader that knows what the people lack and has in his arsenal of wisdom the instrument to proffer lasting solution to the prevailing economic crisis, political inadequacies, unemployment, youth marginalization, infrastructural collapse and societal vices and insecurity e.t.c.
With this quality in full glare of the people, it thus sends goose pimples to the man from Iyamoh, the restlessness in his camp is abundantly evident in his obvious errors and laughable political statements that is least expected from a supposed political godfather. This is a sign of hysteria and apprehension! He knows very well that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is formidable and ready to bring his empire to a premature halt.
Oshiomole's body language belies many of his statements regarding his victory in the poll. If it was possible to find what races through his mind, his followers would have been surprised to know that he is scared knowing that the PDP flag bearer knows the game and his rig plan will eventually hit the brick.
POI in many of his interviews spoke about the caliber of person that the incumbent is and his wish for the people of the state. This is sufficient for the people to make up their minds against the emergence of his "son". It will amount to father handing over power to his son upon exit and by inference is tantamount to a coup if allowed to happen.
The flag bearer of APC many claimed was imposed on them and was made be, when money was roughly expended on the primary election for his victory. When has it become the full responsibility of the incumbent to go all out in the open to support a candidate when in effect his office is akin to that of a father? This is the canker-worm that is ravaging the broken image of APC in Edo state, on this note, the emergence of their candidate will portend evil for the state. Therefore, the duty of the citizens is to work round the clock for this ominous sign not to manifest itself.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu's acceptance by the people was recently corroborated when the loving people of the state came out en masse to join and support his candidacy irrespective of Adams Oshiomhole's refusal to use the stadium for the flag-off. The sudden change of event would have amounted to failure, but the people were determined to do the needful and by that, a strong signal was sent to Adams and his "son" that the state cannot be mortgaged.
Gone are the days when people were publicly intimated and molested during elections. The people are aware that the " ballot is stronger than the bullet" and the lives of the future generation will be at stake if the wrong candidate is voted into office.
To this end, let us support and vote for the man of the people, the man that will change our sorrow to joy, the man that can change our cry to laughter. #Poiwilldeliver.

A resident of Okada in Ovia North-East local government area of Edo named Mr. Kelvin Omoruyi has decided to embark on a solidarity trek from Okada to Benin city from Wednesday 06 July 2016.

Okada is about 42 km distance to Benin city, on the Benin – Lagos expressway.

It takes approximately 7 hours 47 minutes for a physically fit man to trek from Okada to Benin City, without stopping and approximately 2 hours, 29 minutes to ride on a bicycle from Okada to Benin city, without stopping. The driving distance between Okada and Benin City is approximately 40 minutes, without traffic.

Mr. Omoruyi said he was embarking on this historic trek to Benin city to meet with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in order for him to show solidarity with him on his campaign to govern Edo State.

If Mr. Omoruyi starts his journey anytime before noon Wednesday, he is expected to reach Benin city before 8.00pm, baring any unforeseen circumstances.
