The Emir of Kano, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Muhammadu Sanusi II), as the American Writer, Henry Miller, said, is an example a philosophical postulation that “the only thing we never get enough is love”.

Sanusi, an accomplished banker, who became the 14th Emir of Kano last June, is a respected Islamic Scholar, and his decision to take a new wife is in line with Islamic injunction, which prescribes a maximum of four wives for those who can treat all of them equally.

Already, Sanusi has three beautiful wives – Sadiya, Maryam and Rakiya.

Like in ancient times when bonds between empires were deepened by marriages among royals and nobles across boundaries, the betrothal of the Adamawa princess to Emir Sanusi II may also be a move to deepen royal bond between Adamawa and Kano.

Historically, both emirates have similar origins in the 19th century Usman dan Fodio’s jihad.

Our dependable source hinted us that all is set for the marriage rites and the invitation card is already in circulation as at the time we are compiling this report.

The event has been slated to happen inside the Emirs Palace.

Many dignitaries have been penciled to honour the invitation from the former banker turned Emir.

Sylva’s era as governor of Bayelsa State were the darkest days in the history of the State. Bayelsans have become wiser and would not be cajoled or hoodwinked by his antics. If Sylva is a wise man, he would have seen the handwriting on the wall, that Bayelsans have since rejected him by voting massively for the Peoples Democratic Party in all the recent elections.

The Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, has reminded the embattled former Governor of the state and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Timipre Sylva, that his era was the darkest days in the history of the state.

Dickson therefore urged Sylva to consider his ambition of returning to Government House come 2016 as an illusion because the people of Bayelsa State now know better.

Dickson, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, was reacting to comments credited to Sylva, who accused him of governance by intimidation and fear.

He said: “Sylva remarks epitomized those of a man, who has lost focus and not in touch with the realities on the ground. It is heartwarming that he (Sylva) is not accusing me of multiple crimes and criminality, secret killings, cultism, large scale corruption and brigandage, which were the hallmarks of his tenure as governor of Bayelsa State.

“Sylva’s era as governor of Bayelsa State were the darkest days in the history of the State. Bayelsans have become wiser and would not be cajoled or hoodwinked by his antics. If Sylva is a wise man, he would have seen the handwriting on the wall, that Bayelsans have since rejected him by voting massively for the Peoples Democratic Party in all the recent elections.

“As a clear manifestation of the peoples total dislike for Sylva, he lost in his unit, ward and constituency in the State and National Assembly polls, that were conducted recently in the State. These are ominous signals that he can’t be governor again.”
Dickson wondered how Sylva would in his wildest of imagination think that he and the APC will stand any chance of defeating a performing PDP governor in the forthcoming election in the state.

Its very funny how people are berating APC for coming 2nd in an election where the candidate of the ruling party in the state came 3rd!
The tragedy and news here should be the fact that in the former president's own state with his party ruling,the PDP is gradually being decimated by 2 relatively new parties in APGA and APC!

The All Progressives Congress on Saturday night declared Senator Ahmad Lawan as its consensus candidate for the office of the Senate President.
This was as the Senator Bukola Saraki group shunned the party’s primaries.
The group said the primaries was primitive, undemocratic and against universal electoral norms and practice.
Both Lawan and Saraki groups had early on Saturday signed an agreement to abide by the outcome of the party’s primaries.
But Saraki’s group, which boasted of 65 senators across party lines, in a statement vowed to participate only in the constitutional election scheduled for Tuesday when the Ninth Senate would be inaugurated.
It said this was in line with the rules of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In an election held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on Saturday night, Lawan scored 32 votes, while Senator George Akume got 31 to emerge as Deputy Senate President candidate.
Announcing the result, the Returning Officer for the election, Mala Buni, who is the APC’s National Secretary, said by the result, Lawan and Akume are now the recognised candidates of the APC for the election.
In a statement by Senators-elect of Like Minds, the group backing Saraki’s Senate presidency candidacy, it decried the primaries by the APC.
It said: “We the Senators elect of Like Minds hereby insist on our position of Open Secret voting process which we believe is in consonance with the provisions of the electoral act, the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the universal electoral values.
“As responsible citizens of Federal Republic of Nigeria, and leaders in our own right, we have resolved and hereby state that we shall not be part of a process that promotes undemocratic electoral process that may resort to rancorous and uncivil situations which inhibits the rights of individuals to vote for the candidate of their choice, as this process will further divide us than unite members of our party.
“In conclusion we the Senators-Elect of Like Minds wish to state categorically that we will participate only in the constitutional election scheduled for Tuesday, the 9th of June 2015 in line with the rules of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We by this press release invite the media to a joint press conference by the 65 Senators-Elect of Like Minds drawn from across party lines on Monday morning, the 8th of June 2015.”
It was gathered that Saraki has continued pursuing the alliance across party lines to emerge the Senate president.
That alliance is said to be premised on support from the Peoples Democratic Party, which has the second largest representative in the Senate.
He is said to have wooed a lot of members of the PDP, the platform on which he served as governor of Kwara State for eight years and was also elected senator for his first four years in the National Assembly.

The decision of his party leaders to use the party’s NWC against his opponent might boomerang if senators choose to assert their independence.
