Lagos APC To Stop Oshiomole From Conducting Primaries In The State. A faction of the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the national working committee (NWC) led by Adams Oshiomhole that going ahead with primary elections in the state “will spell doom for the party and expose it to avoidable litigation”. Going by the schedule of the party, primary elections for the 2019 polls will begin on Wednesday but Fouad Oki, factional chairman of the ruling party in Lagos, said carrying on with the exercise might bring the APC in Lagos to ruins. In a letter seen by TheCable, Oki asked the NWC to recognise his group as the one with legal party executives. He accused the national secretariat of the APC of “carrying on with impunity and has, so far, been dealing with the impostors and reengades that emerged from the illegally conducted Congress in Lagos State”. “We believe you are aware of the fact that the majority of the Party members in Lagos State are aggrieved (justifiably so) with the attitude of the National Body in http://soyiga.com/2018/09/08/lagos-apc-to-stop-oshiomole-from-conducting-primaries-in-the-state/ |

The country might witness another showdown in the Senate as the Senators cut short their vacation to discuss President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 election budget request. What we should expect is fierce arguments between members of the ruling party APC and the major opposition party PDP. According to SUNDAY PUNCH we learnt that a plan to send some senators home would cause the major crisis in the Senate. According to SUNDAY PUNCH, a source who is very close to the leadership of the Nigerian Senate, told one of her correspondents on Friday that arrangements were being perfected to ensure that the former senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio and others who defected recently from the PDP to the APC and other parties recently face a recall process. The source briefed that the move against the defectors started just before the Senate went on recess, with the refusal of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to read the letter of defection submitted to him by Senator Akpabio. No fewer than four (4) senators have dumped the PDP but their defections have not been declared on the floor of the red chamber. While three (3) of them left the PDP for the APC, one(1) of them left for the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). For instance, Senators Hope Uzodinma (Imo State) and Senator Fatima Raji-Rasaki (Ekiti State) formerly of the PDP, have been attending APC meetings and events within and outside the Red Chambers. Senator Sonny Ogbuoji from Ebonyi State of Nigeria recently declared himself as “the newest catch” of the ruling APC when the National Working Committee of the party met with the Senate caucus. Also, Senator Stella Oduah (Anambra State) had also joined APGA in Anambra State. Shortly after the announcement of those 14 senators who defected to PDP, the APC caucus led by the Majority Leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, while responding to a question on why the party listed those who http://soyiga.com/2018/08/12/saraki-may-declare-akpabio-and-others-pdp-defectors-seat-vacant/ |

Obasanjo New Political Party ADC Spilt The perceived weakness of opposition parties some months to 2019 general election has been credited as possible reasons for the nonchalant posture of the ruling party All Progressive Congress (APC) A Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) that metamorphosed into political party, African Democratic Congress (ADC) by the Egba-Born former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is gradually disintegrating. The major opposition party PDP has also continued to move from one crisis to another. Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) and Dr Abduljalil Tafawa-Balewa led Nigeria Intervention Movement (NIM) which also metamorphosed into political party, Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) ahead of 2019 general election but is also yet to gain the required recognition. People likened the activities of NIM to those of Human Rights Organizations rather than a political party aiming to contest to win election. Apart from PDP, ADC and ANN, it is hard to point at any other political parties out of the 48 existing parties that has the strength to challenge the ruling party in terms of strength, financial capacity, organizational ability and other attributes that takes party to win election. Although, while there are ongoing discussion among 30 political parties including Labour Party (LP), Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Alliance (AA), Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Young Democratic Party (YDP), Democratic Alternative (DA), National Conscience Party (NCP) and others for a merger, the development in ADC, where a faction was said to have evolved may jeopardize the coalition. HOW ADC SPLIT BEGAN While the leadership of ADC gathered at Sheraton Hotel in Lagos State on Tuesday for a programme it tagged: ‘Coalition for Electoral Integrity’, to educate the electorate on the need to protect and judiciously use their votes instead of selling same to politicians on election day for peanuts, a group within the party that claimed http://soyiga.com/2018/08/11/obasanjo-new-political-party-adc-spilt/ |

“Macey where are you?” Macey was my one-year-old black Persian cat who was now sitting on top of my wardrobe staring down at me curiously. “C’mon kitty, get down here and eat your food.” She meowed and jumped down into my arms as I headed towards the kitchen before serving her cat food to her so that I could get ready. Living in Manhattan, New York wasn’t easy for me. Even with a Bachelors in Engineering, still I have managed to remain jobless but I was lucky enough to share an apartment with my childhood best friend, Emily Lockwood. Emily was somewhat of a legend is the only person to break down the walls of yours truly, Angela Carson. Speaking of Emily, nowadays I often help her in her flower shop. Yup, a flower shop. I’ve been questioned on this since I have my degree in mechanics but thanks to my overprotective and extremely possessive brothers who don’t believe I should be working after what happened with me in my previous company. I find this impossibility. I’m not surprised since they’ve never allowed me to work but then this incident had to happen to me. Ever since our mom died when I was 15, they’ve kept me securely under their wings, pampering and spoiling me. Nowadays they pay my rent as well as give me a monthly allowance, much to my refusal. Since our father runs his own restaurant in Chicago they’ve gone into business with him since they finished school. They just couldn’t leave him on his own after mom died. With Lucas being 26 and Danny being 25 they were old enough to take over from our father, Matthew Carson. Living in Chicago all my life I needed a breath of fresh air, so when Em decided to move to the Big Apple, I joined her much to their disapproval. I needed my independence and since the only way to appease both them and myself, I agreed not to work as an employee and instead chose to work with Em in her flower shop. But that was a lie of course… I have started my job hunting and I am pretty sure I will get a job in no time. Yes, someone could say this is a unique choice to make but I can ensure that I’ll not be working with Em for the rest of my life. Yes, I do have priorities heck everyone has priorities in their lives and in order to be more independent I have decided to finally go against my family’s absurd choice of wanting me not to work just for a silly incident. The sound of my phone ringing snapped me out to reality and I checked my phone to see five missed calls from Emily. I inhaled a breath seeing her message asking me to be there by ten. I checked the time to find its already nine-thirty in the morning. So, not bothering to waste any more time I hurried myself to get ready and reach her before the time. I threw on my white floral knee-length dress before slipping on my gladiators. I had enough time to quickly do a braid letting it fall to the side leaving no time for me to do my makeup. I took my phone and locked my apartment but not before checking on my cat. I saw her jumping onto my mattress and snuggling into the pillow sleeping as almost she touched the pillow. A small smile appeared on my face and I hurried to lock my apartment door before racing down the street to Emily’s shop. Taking long strides, I tried to walk as quickly as I could to her shop. I saw George sitting with his black Labrador reading the newspaper on the bench. He was an old man who would come every day in the morning with his black Labrador for a walk and since I walk every day to Em’s shop I meet him daily and I wave at him to which he replied by smiling and waving back at me while his dog barked swinging its tail happily seeing me. Finally, I reached the shop and found her working on the counter probably on the shop’s account. She was completely merged into her work which resulted in her not to feel my presence or that was what I thought so, I managed to sneak into The Blossom while Em was busy in her work. I let out a sigh of relief when I found myself inside the shop without her noticing me but the happiness didn’t last long when I heard her speaking nonchalantly to me “You are late,” she said without sparing me a glance. “I know and I’m sorry,” I said sagging my shoulder with resignation at being caught. She exhaled loudly and looked at me. “Angie, how many times have I told you not to worry so much and just relax will you?” she asked throwing me a smile. I gave her a simple smile as a reply. Moving towards one of the shelves I heard Emily call out to me, “Angie will you arrange those white lilies? They’re on that shelf in the corner and if you need more the gardens full.” I nodded as I began to arrange them. As I reached out for the bunch I was stopped by an old, wrinkled hand wearing a Rolex that reached for the flowers at the same time as me. I looked at the owner of the hand and noticed a maybe mid-50-year-old man wearing a business suit with blonde hair and warm green eyes. He was still handsome for his age and even with his 6’2 height he still had this kind aura around him. As I retreated back I noticed the warm smile that sat on his face trying desperately to mask the depression in his eyes. The sadness that bore out of them made me want to console him and ask him the reason for his sadness. “Excuse me, young lady, can I have those lilies? I really want them for someone special. I fear those are the last in the shop.” His http://soyiga.com/2018/08/09/billionaires-intense-love-chapter-1/

9th August, 2018 PRESS RELEASE: SARAKI’S CONTINUED STAY IN OFFICE IMMORAL The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has rejected the rationale for the continued retention of the post of Senate president by Senator Bukola Saraki as explained at a world press conference yesterday. Saraki argued at the event that he would remain in office until the ruling party controls two-thirds of the membership of the red chamber. Debunking Saraki’s position, the group posited that the Senate president lost the moral right to remain in office the moment he defected to the opposition party. Expatiating further, Akintola said, “Saraki’s hypothesis is only workable if there is a working agreement between the ruling party and the opposition. It will then be a coalition. Such coalition is formed in advanced democracies in the interest of the nation. But the situation is different here. The ruling party and the opposition are locked in a cut-throat struggle characteristic of a bolekaja political culture. “Saraki is heating up the polity. It is a reflection of acute poverty of statesmanship in the National Assembly (NASS). The Senate president knows very well that it is the grass that suffers when two elephants fight but he does not seem to care. Nigerians can whistle for their dinner as far as he is concerned. Our lawmakers have turned the citizenry into pawns in their political chess game. “We are not interested in party politics because the difference between the two major political parties is the difference between six and half a dozen. They can do whatever they like to themselves as individuals and as politicians. But the Nigerian ship of state is drifting courtesy of Saraki’s political gymnastics. We can only single out a few individual leaders as the little choice in a whole basket of rotten apples and President Muhammadu Buhari stands out as the gem in the collection. “Development projects are being held up. 2018 budget was delayed for a monumental seven month period. It has never happened before. It appears that the intention is to shut down government and make the people suffer. The Senate president and his supporters in the red chamber are not thinking of Nigeria and the poor masses. They are holding Nigeria by the jugular. “We plead with these people to do a rethink. No country can make any progress in the absence of political stability. So where is our patriotism? Where is our sense of honour? Governments come and go but administration is a continuum. Regimes rise and fall but nations continue to develop. Leaders emerge and go into oblivion but the people’s welfare move from one level to the next. Opposition may be powerful but that must not be allowed to affect projects, programmes and policies designed to improve the welfare of the citizens. “Even the theory of separation of powers does not entertain the luxury of each arm of government working at cross-purposes. But this is what has been happening since the inception of this administration. Certain lawmakers loyal to the opposition manipulated legislative technicalities to hijack leadership positions in the legislature. This was done while pretending to belong to the ruling party. “These usurped positions were consistently used to obstruct the smooth running of government and to armtwist the executive in the past three years. These same people eventually decamped to the opposition party after sabotaging government’s efforts at improving the lives of Nigerians. This is what Nigerians in particular and the international community in general needs to understand about Nigeria’s peculiar case at present. The world must know where the present NASS is coming from. Its leadership emerged in highly controversial and questionable circumstances. “Our concern as a human rights organization is not the promotion of any political party but to articulate the extent to which the actions or inactions of those to whom the fate of the citizenry was entrusted impacted upon the lives of our people. Lawmakers have the right to belong to political parties of their choice but they also have a duty to facilitate the drafting of policies capable of raising the standard of living among the citizens. Unfortunately for us in Nigeria the reverse has been the case in the past three years. Instead of moving the country forward, the leadership of the NASS has been a cog in the wheel of progress. “MURIC strongly believes that the Senate president has a moral obligation to resign his position since he has decamped to the opposition party. This is more so particularly in view of the fact that more evidence has emerged showing that he cannot enjoy a smooth working relationship with the executive. Yesterday’s siege on the NASS has proved beyond any reasonable doubt that there is no mutual trust between the executive and the legislature. How Sen. Bukola Saraki Defeated His Father And Sent His Sister Out Of Party Posted on July 29, 2018 AuthorPrince Soyiga Samuel Adeshina As the strong political battle between Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State and his father, the political dictator of Kwara politics, second republic senate leader and waziri of Ilorin, Dr. Olusola Saraki, attain its peak, tension continue to mount on political loyalists in state on who to succeed Governor Bukola Saraki. However, guber candidates are rounding up their campaign tour and going to the poll to determine the outcome of both the strength and wealth displayed in the last few months. It has however come to the notice of us that the candidates are still battling with the fear of their level of acceptance in the state as regard the exalted seat which is meant to be occupied by the winner come May 29, 2011. SOYIGA’S BLOG gathered that the power tussle has turned the ‘State of Hamony’ into a factional entity that can only been brought back together by the outcome of the governorship election. Governor Bukola Saraki has succeeded in ensuring that his younger Sister, Sen Gbemisola Saraki would not become the next governor of the state by campaigning against her candidature and chasing her out of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN. The major candidates jostling for governorship seat are; Barrister Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN: Action Congress of Nigeria The son of the late jurist and Wali of Ilorin, Justice M.B. Belgore, has been vibrating in Kwara State in the last two years not as a legal practitioner but as a politician who is readily equipped to take over the leadership of the state from the ruling party, PDP, come May 29. The ACN guber candidate has since been striving hard to occupy the prestigious government house located along Ahmadu way, Ilorin. Dele Belgore became the flag bearer of the ACN with the support of the party’s elders from Lagos who single handedly endorsed his candidature without conducting primaries. We gathered that this singular action of imposition however led to the breakaway of some aggrieved members and defected to the Allied congress party of Nigeria, ACPN while others joined the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC. http://soyiga.com/2017/12/02/nans-lagos-chapter-join-nulass-national-to-issue-seven7-working-days-ultimatum-to-pay-scholarship-and-bursary/ BEING A JOINT PRESS TEXT BETWEEN THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP OF THE NATIONAL UNION OF LAGOS STATE STUDENTS (NULASS) AND THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS), JOINT CAMPUS COMMITTEE LAGOS STATE AXIS DELIVERED ON MONDAY 4TH DECEMBER, 2017. NOTICE OF SEVEN (7) WORKING DAYS ULTIMATUM TO PAY OUR SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY FOR 2016/2017 ACADEMIC SESSION BEFORE WE PROCEED ON A COORDINATED PROTEST ACROSS THE STATE. Our Bursary Our Right Coalition is a conglomeration of National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) and National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos axis. Our objective is to see that the Lagos state government release the payment of the 2016-2017 Lagos State Bursary and scholarship dues for Lagosian schooling all over the federation. Your excellency, we are compelled to notify you of our resolution to hit the streets of Lagos and cause peaceful civil disobedience in protest of non-payment of our bursary and scholarship dues for all Lagos state indigenes schooling across the federation in various higher institutions. Our resolve to protest after the 7days ultimatum is not unconnected to the silence of the state government to communicate to us when the payment will be made available to beneficiaries. In the past months, we have exhibited the highest level of civility as expected from a body comprised of not only higher institution students but a parliament of intellect by writing, calling, texting and even mailing the chairman of the Lagos state scholarship board, the elusive and (everly unwilling to assist students) special adviser to the governor on education. We wish to state here that our correspondence has attracted no favorable response from the duo. We are equally embarrassed by the undisputable fact that since the inception of this administration, we have never received our bursary and scholarship without having to protest across the state. The last being our protest in September 2016 and payment was approved after a week. We resolve that since this is the language the state respect, we shall be doing same this year to lawfully demand for our payment within the most civil way. We are sad to our core to know as of December 2016 a
