Don't mind most of the comments you read though it is very provocative. They appear as if they love you with their advises but they are actually intimidated and doing it to discourage such noble idea that will see Anambra dominate the aviation sector like they dominated every other sectors in Nigeria. They all know the airport will be among the most viable in Nigeria hence their attack but the good news is that the said project has taken off, the next thing you will see is flights landing and taking off. KOOL Presidiotbuhari: So because enugu has an airport, Anambra should not build theirs? What a warped logic |

I think the reverse is the case. Do you know that even ordinary Asaba airport has more traffic than Enugu airport? This is because most air travelers from Anambra switched. But above all Anambra airport may likely "sink" the 2 airports because the one in Anambra will have commercial sale of ATK and also cargo facilities coupled with the huge air travellers in the state. swagifted: if de ever properly complete the enugu/anambra express road, dia will a little need for airport in anambra, at least not so sudden, besides the enugu airport is now international. |

We don't care about your useless and worthless and pointless display of anger and frustration over our advancement and resolve to own our own aviation facilities. LOL! The point is that the airport is already ongoing in Anambra whether for bragging right or for economic right it is none of your hopeless business. We are the best in all the positive fields. Look for the lagoon to do the needful if it pained you so much. [s] okwadatigbogal: I will always say something. The major problem of a typical anambra person is inferiority complex and insecurity. They must always argue aggressively over nonsense. I believe that some mods on this nairaland are on the payroll of the anambra state government. To be sincere...what exactly do u need an airport for? There are three airports surrounding there, no matter which side y are going to in anambra. Asaba, enugu and owerri. Aba market is even the main production market in the southeast and that area might even be in more need for an airport than anambra, but typical abia ppl dont make noise and they are quite reasonable ppl.inferiority complex shows on al of u everytime u open ur mouth in public. You all just want an airport simply because u want to brag u have an airport and NOTHING ELSE!!!see them bragging as usual, when it is known that more than half of the traders on onitsha are not even from anambra. They will claim that they built lagos, then will also claim that they built anambra. It is natural for onitsha to have such economic values, becos it is close to the sea/port. Its just like lagos indigenes bragging that they built lagos, simply because of the geographical advantage of lagos over other sw states. I have noticed that whenever a post is made about another southeast governor/state, anambra ppl will hijack the tread nd insult that state/governor. Unfortunately, the indigenes of that state will never defend their state (well it could be because they are not jobless or insecure). Believe me, with these anambra ppl, biafra is just a waste of time. Because, they are a bunch of uncivilized, noise making braggarts, and whn/if biafra is actualised, they will turn themselves into nuisances. Abiriba ppl in abia state ARE the richest set of Igbos (quote me anywhere), but u dont hear noise from them. Even Delta and Imo ppl have lots of billionaires, but they do not make noise because there are many civilized and secure ppl from there. They do not feel the need to brag anyhow to show their wealth. I am thru with my epistle, dont bother menstruating under my comment.i wont reply u...no time at all.. [/s]

Anambra International Cargo/Passenger Airport will be the busiest airport in Nigeria after Lagos and Abuja. Good job Obiano for starting this Ambitious project that will stand Anambra out in Africa. SpaceTour: OBIANO FLAGS OFF AGULERI-OTUOCHA-UMUERI AIRPORT ROAD
Aguleri the fishing and agrarian community of Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State came alive with the flag off of the 8.5 kilometer Aguleri-Otuocha-Umueri Airport dual carriageway which the State government was constructing at the sum of N5 billion.
Anambra State governor, who also inspected the Aguleri –Uno oil rig road project, a 40 kilometer road and several bridges, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, reassuring the people of the State that the entire projects would increase economic activities in the State by the time the airport and the road projects are completed.
The governor, who was briefed by the contractor on the progress of the project, also expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the project, which on completion would open up seven food producing communities in Anambra North.
While addressing the people after the inspection, the governor said the projects are in the interest of the people, especially the Airport project which when completed would have a depot for aviation fuel for international flights.
He announced a new partnership with a South African company that will boost electricity supply in the Omabala region and beyond.
The State Commissioner for Works, Calistus Ilozumba, said the state had secured approval from the Federal Government for the airport and had also acquired enough land for the project and therefore the road to the airport is very important.
The governor’s entourage moved to Nando From Aguleri, another food producing community in Anambra East local government area for the flag off of a 4.5 kilometer road, awarded at N1 billion.
The governor flagged off the project and assured the people that the contractors have been fully mobilized and the road is expected to be completed in one year.

That is you opinion and it will never stop what is already ongoing on ground! The airport is already ongoing in Anambra so device another means to stop it other than under the guise that surrounding states has it already. [s] layzie: 4.5 km road at 1bn Hmm. That's a whooping N220m per km, even NDDC roads are nt that expensive.
Back to topic, Anambra is very close to both Enugu and Asaba airports. So an airport in Anambra today is far from being priority. There should be more urgent infrastructure like roads, power and more industries before an airport. [/s] |

Whoever do not like it should do the needful because you cannot stop a moving train. No state should decide for us as we are thinking into the far future. Anambra International Airport will be the busiest airport in Nigeria after Lagos and Abuja. OBIANO FLAGS OFF AGULERI-OTUOCHA-UMUERI AIRPORT ROAD

This is an unnecessary betrayal of emotion. Stop deceiving yourself because these are federating units with it's own demands and programmes. Anambra needs the airport more than Enugu State. FACT! Why not Enugu state scrap it's own airport and build expressways? [s] signz: Ndi Anambra and Abia should calm down .
Remember Enugu International Airport. Anyi bukwa n nwanne. If you guys leave us to build your airport what happens to our own airport nah.
If I am Gburugburu I will convince Obiano and Ikpeazu not to build airports even if it means building federal roads that connects the states. Example there should be more than 3 roads connecting Enugu to Anambra. Enugu Governor should construct all the roads leading to Anambra thereby making Obiano feel that it's absolutely unnecessary to waste funds building any airport in Anambra.
I am saying this cos Enugu needs to get more IGR from this Airport badly. Our brothers building theirs will reduce Enugu airport patronage.

Weep all that you want but Anambra International Cargo Airport is already under construction. Anambra International Cargo Airport is being built at Otuocha which is central to the major cities of Onitsha, Awka and Nnewi. Anambra International Cargo Airport will also serve as a hub for ATK in West Africa where planes from all over the continent will land to refill due to nearness to the Orient Petroleum. Anambra is developing 3 worldclass malls in our major cities while that of Onitsha is due to open to customers next month. Take your worthless advise elsewhere because it is dead on arrival. [s] macjive01: Anambra and Abia doesnt need any airport at this time.
Enugu Airport is only 30 mins away from heart of an Onitsha .
Asaba airport is 10 mins from Onitsha. If the proposed airport is built in oba which is at least 45 mins from Onitsha . Most businessmen will still prefer ASABA airport with is literally across the pond.
Same for ABA. There are two airports within 30mins of ABA - Imo airport and portharcourt airport. If the proposed airport is built in umuahia, owerri airport will still be closer to ABA business men and will continue to be preferred due to proximity.
I rather they plunge that money into other state infrastructure.
They can built world class hospital for a start.
Or a dubai class shopping mall and move their current dirty markets into malls. [/s] |

Anambra is is among the few states of Nigeria that's least indebted and pays salaries as and when. Infact Anambra pays salaries every 25th of every month. You are a daft. Whatever amount of workers it employs is something than nothing at all. If the construction employs that much and on completion it takes as much as that number too, then it has reduced the number of people seeking for job. I thought you said initially that the project will not employ anyone but now you are the one listing the numbers yourself. You are really a dunce. That Anambra is putting it's on money too is a way to be part of the project as a stakeholder. It's called investment. Anambra has the policy of being part of any investment going on in the state. From SABMiller to Orient to Coscharis farm etc, Anambra invests in all of them that way it will have a stake in it at completion. You don't tell investors what to do with their funds. Investing in Golf Resort, real estates, is a better investment that will even attract tourists and more investors thereby creating more revenue and more employment. Whatever you don't know about ask questions before you go ahead to expose your ignorance. [s] DedeNkem: You're a short-sighted id*iot! The construction jobs you're so excited about are temporary jobs that won't employ many because most construction works, by construction companies, are done with machines, unlike 15-20 years ago and beyond when machines haven't replaced most jobs done manually by humans.
The only area that may have permanent jobs is in the management of the hotel and golf court, which won't have up to 200 workers. The "five thousand housing units", if at all it happens, will definitely be shared among relatives and friends at subsidize rate.
Even the 17 billion naira includes 4 billion naira from State coffers. The so-called investors will collect 4 billion naira and free 765 hectares of land from the State! That's a good way of stealing from govt. They have 13 billion but don't have 4 billion to add? Yeah right! Why didn't they invest the 13 billion without collecting money from govt.?
Building a massive Solar station to give Anambra people free electricity is better than Golf court for only the rich! [/s] |
