I don't envy them!!Being a sailor is a very stressful n demanding job. l have a friend who's husband is sailor, she sees her husband just "3 months" in a year!!
some of them stay at sea for that long cos of thier voyage contract. ratings i believe stay as long as 5-6months. officers on the other hand spend shorter time at sea. i know a chief mate will work back to back for 3months, same with the old man and will have 2-3 months break.
as for being the best spouses, it dosen't follow. i've met sailors who are rotten spouses and i've met sailors who are excellent husbands,it depends on the individual.

Uniform men now keep afro and bearshuh??

Main looking at this guy's you will know they were not really qualified for this jobs they got it through influence and corruption this guy's look like lazy bunch of spoilt adults quote me and die.....
Yes they keep beards and afros. yes they are qualified for the job and most didn't get it from influence and corruption! my husband sailed 10yrs and got his masters ticket (unlimited). he was trained in UK by the nigerian govt and the exams was thrown open for everyone to write..only 50 made it in his set. rather than hating you can encourage your younger siblings to join maritime academy oron. if they pass nlng exams your family fortunes will change!! they are not lazy and spoilt like you suggest, they are hardworking young men and not many men will want to endure thier conditions of service! it takes a lot to be a sailor, its a highly technical field thats why you dont have so many of them around.. i have quoted you and i wont die because you are not my GOD!!
and oh, i know some female sailors, bravehearts!

Wow! I didn't know I had this Much replies on this post I made o. Still don't know how to get notifications when I get new replies. Anyway, want to thank everyone that took time to respond.
For the naysayers, Yes I was very naive when I made that post. I went ahead and dived into Facebook advert.. guess what? I made sales of 180k first month I launched my site!!!!! cool
Yes o! Twas mind blowing for me! I noticed that just one category pulled in that much sales. Oh did I mention I walked blindly into a courier company, and spoke with thier branch mgr in kaduna. Got a good deal with pay on delivery and they deliver nation wide!
Fun part of all this is I did all this without any professional help. Even the carousels and pages on my site I manage myself.
All I did was spend hours on the web reading and learning and utilizing what I learnt.
So for any naive and green person out there planning on embarking on this, get ready to work o! And yes you can do it without the help of ''experts' ' you can do it on a shoe string budget!!
Oh, I still don't v a business plan but I v money going into my account! grin
CareerRe: Why Most Men Do Not Want Their Wives To Work by sparklebug: 10:16pm On Sep 04, 2015
There should not be a blanket answer to a woman working or not! It should be on a case by case basis. Been married for 8 years and had to resign from zenith to attend to my family. My husband was an active sailor then. He will go to sea for 4-5 months and be home for 2 months. I left the bank to stay at home. After a while, I picked interest in business and today I v a thriving kids clothing store.
Yes I miss the glitz and glamour of be a well paid zenith banker. But when I look at my kids, it's a sacrifice I don't regret.
I'm in my mid 30's and once in a while I volunteer with ngo's. I hope to go back to active work with and ngo someday... but if that day never comes, I'll keep growing my business and hopefully I'll v branches everywhere in Nigeria, creating employment for our teeming unemployed youth!! grin

Kudos to the woman that ran away, if for any reason you are going back, don't allow him make you his punchline bag again.

PoliticsRe: Orekoya Kidnapping: Police Arrest Housemaid by sparklebug: 1:21pm On Apr 16, 2015
I'm happy the maid was caught and I hope she will be jailed and the keys thrown away. I don't like the way people are bashing the mother saying all sorts to her on how she's been a bad mother. Both parents erred in my opinion, like who hires a nanny from OLX?

I hear people say " oh the woman should resign her job and become a full time house wife bla bla bla". Do you know what goes on behind closed doors? Do you think most women would rather not stay at home with their kids if the men in their lives stepped up to the plate? The same people crucifying this woman for working will be the first to say she's lazy and not contributing anything to the family if she becomes a full time house wife!

I've been married for 8 years and I've come to realize that marriage should not be approached with a one-size-fits-all mentality! What works in home A will be a recipe for disaster in home B. Let everyone work with what's best for their home ( housewife or career woman) and may God keep us from harm, Amen!

PoliticsRe: Buhari, A Gamble Not Worth Taking — Jonathan by sparklebug: 9:26am On Mar 27, 2015
Flets:
How do we avoid the impending dangers to Nigeria’s economy and existence under a Buhari presidency? We must need to face reality as there is no magic in governance. Extremely hard times lies ahead for this country if Buhari ever emerges victorious.

How do you explain to a Niger Deltan that despite GEJ's achievements in almost all sectors, roads, bridges, railways, agriculture, automobile, alamajiri schools, new universities, fertilizer and ghost worker scam elimination, freedom of press, FOI, free and fair elections, power sector. .........etc, he is still booted out.

What will stop the creeks from going haywire again? Buhari will send the troops to the creeks and together they will set the oil facilities ablaze.
OBJ's use of JTF force could not help as no Oil producing company will risk producing crude and killing staff in a volatile region. GEJ under Yaradua had to get down to the creeks to to talk to these boys and effect the amnesty program because they found him as a representation in government.

It will be impossible to convince a ND minority albeit a militant that their own was not persecuted out of office. And that will be the theme of their new struggle. The long term solution to this mess is implementing the Confab report and enthroning true federalism.

A lot of opportunities are springing up around Africa and the IOCs are already geared towards investing in these newer and saner climes than invest in an unstable Niger delta . And while these troubles persists, the oil producing companies will simply withdraw their personnel from the volatile region and all foreign investments will seize in all sectors.

Unfortunately, even if the Nigerian troops kill 90% of the militants, it will take just one militant, a dynamite and just one strategic location along the multi- kilometer trunk lines to continue to wreck havoc to the Nigerian economy.

Fast forward to 2019, if we remain one country and without a civil war,, we will be an economic wreck with no allocations and salaries, no capital projects, no hope with dollar exchanging for 400 naira and we are worse off than we were in 2015.

Cos the truth is that without crude proceeds for now, Nigeria is finished.

And then, we'll be screaming another 'Change' because we would have learnt a bitter lesson in the hands of the Fulanis, Tinubu and Saraki. And then we will ask.... Why were we this silly?

And before you quote me, make sure you outline in clear terms how you or Buhari will avert this obvious calamity staring us in the face
Only last week, they creek boys seem to have resumed activities by kidnapping at Yoho facility operated by Exxonmobil and have shut in 80KBD already. Are we ready for this for the next 4 years?

The entire world stands to benefit from a crisis in the Niger delta. Its not a coincidence that USA who abandoned us at the height of bokoharam is busy shouting for change in govt . Crises in the ND will reduce supply of crude to the Oil market and that would drive up the price of crude for producing countries.... But at Nigeria's expense.

Is Buhari is any way a better Democratic president than GEJ? Is this risk worth it?

Nigerians.... Be Warned!!!
Are you trying to blackmail us into voting Goodluck Johnathan?
RomanceRe: When Did We Become So Tolerant Of The Other Woman? by sparklebug: 5:00pm On Mar 25, 2015
shitshappen:
I am a Christian, I believe in the bible as the word of God. And Jesus as the son of God.

I know the problem with our society was the day we accepted the white man's way of life, don't get me wrong. It is not in the blood of an African man to be with one woman. Centuries of practicing polygamy is now having a toll on us. We want to be faithful, we want to show you we love you, and the kids we had together with you.
But sometimes we also want to be with the other woman, they complement you. You are not perfect and we know that , that other woman sometimes make your own imperfections easy to bear.
Ask me one thing I want to change about christianity, it is that dictate of one man one woman. Now you know why I said I'm a Christian who believe in bible, who believe in christ Jesus.
I might be wrong, I might be right. I just know that men are not hot-wired to be with one woman, check the Patriarchs
.

If you truly believe the bible then you will know God in his wisdom created ONLY ONE woman for Adam. You talk about the other woman complementing your spouse, then its OK if she gets another man to compliment you!

I was diagnosed years ago and I'm in my mid 30's now. I haven't had a major attack for over 2 years so it came as a surprise wen a month ago I started having severe attacks. I was about crossing into my last trimester. The doctor gave me several intravenous injections bt I only got worse.
He then queried my blood, result came out, I had senior and junior typhoid(high values) , malaria parasite, infections in the blood, low calcium, low blood volume coupled with d stress of pregnancy!!
I was surprised wen I saw the result cause I wasn't really sick as in bed ridden and running a temperature, I just felt fatigued and I attributed it to 3rd trimester o! I was placed on a cocktail of injections and drugs o, special care being taken cos of the baby. I was also given an inhaler, I've attached the pictures. It's been over 3 weeks now and I feel great! So for me the trigger was internal. I haven't had need of the inhaler for about a week now, but I carry it with me just to be safe.

@OP, i feel your worry. I was in the same shoe sometime back, didnt like the way the school was overloading my son. When he finished nur 2 last term, i made up my mind to change the school. fortunately saw a school not too far from the former school but smaller. I love thier teaching methods!! they do not overburden them and they have fun ways of teaching ! my son comes home from school happy everyday and is always happy to go to school. Look around, I'm sure you will find a school you are comfortable with. He is your child, trust your instincts. All the best!!!

CareerRe: Basic Medical Science In Nigeria - The Way Forward? by sparklebug: 2:10pm On Sep 20, 2013
i am a physiology graduate from unical, finished in 2004 with a second class upper. served in 2005 , while serving i applied to accenture, KPMG, price water , WAMCO and by feb 2006 got a job offer from WAMCO and GTBank, I chose GTBANK. worked there for a while and later moved to ZENITH and finally to my kitchen grin. After spending some years in my kitchen as a house wife, i went back for a masters in development studies which got me a volunteer position in a UKDFID sponsored project. I am warming up to get a permanent job on the project soon. there is a world of opportunities in the development world, I wish id volunteered earlier I would have gone very far in my career path by now. this is to encourage all graduates or students of basic medical science, yes, there is still light at the end of the tunnel. Dont let any one especially medical students make you feel like a looser! Its sad that our country really does not have a well cut out career path for us but rather than sit in a corner sulking work hard and come out with a good degree then keep your options open. if u can afford to, offer to volunteer with an implementing partner like Benguella, SFH, CIHP, FHI360 etc, there are so many of them out there. it might mean working without pay for some time but know that with the experience you get from them you will surely get something at the end. Best of luck and God bless!!
EducationNDA Post Graduate School Convocation 2013 by sparklebug(op): 11:45pm On Sep 14, 2013
I Was one of those conferred with a masters degree today from NDA Postgraduate college, yipeeee!!! smiley I Picked up a form last year for a postgraduate masters programme at NDA and true to thier word we finished on time and we convocated today. we had wonderful Doctors and Professors as lecturers, with the dean and the course cordinator ever ready to listen to our many challenges and helping out as best as they could. The day started out great for me, but the long trek from the car park to the multipurpose hall almost ruined it o! it wasn'!t funny at all cry! President Jonathan and the president of sierra leone graced the occasion, and for security reasons we were made to park our cars far far far FARRR away from the multipurpose hall. the fiery Kaduna sun and the discomfort of trekking with high heeled shoes couldnt dampen my resolve to make it to the convocation hall o! At a point we had to remove our heeled shoes and slap with foot cheesy. On getting to the parade ground, we had to wait under the scorching sun for another hour to allow the cadets finish their Passing out parade before moving to the hall for the conferment of degrees. I finally made it into the fully airconditioned hall and was so full of joy when we were conferred with the masters degree. It was not easy but i thank God i finally finished. So this is wishing every one who convocated today a fruitful life ahead! God Bless!

PoliticsRe: Jonathan's Brother Died Of Cardiac Arrest by sparklebug: 3:02pm On Dec 09, 2012
Mr president, those tears you have cried is nothing compared to that I have cried(nd still crying) over the loss of my 2year old child,no thanks to our non- existent health care system.
Unlike you,I did not have the luxury of taking her "out" for medical treatment on time. By the time we were able to get a sponsor who took her out,it was too late.she died before they could do anything on her.
If we had good medical care in this country,as good as the ones I've been priviledged to see, just maybe she would have lived.we have very good specialist doctors outside the shores of this country, who I believe will come back home if conditions are right.
Mr president, let that pain you feel drive you to urgently do something about our health sector.may the good lord give you the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, amen.

BusinessKaduna South-railway Property Management Company Leasing Out Plots by sparklebug(op): 3:12am On Nov 06, 2012
Hi,just thought I should share. Railway property management company is leasing out plots of land in kaduna south.those empty plots near the track from gwari avenue-access hotel-kenfeli -up to danbo area.
The plots are strictly for shops and offices.
Each plot costs 120k with a yearly lease of 20k subsequently.
If you pass through the area you will notice the plots have been pegged.I'm not that good with measurement but each plot should confortably sit 2 shops.
Just go to their property management office (after station market) and ask for the madam in charge if interested.
The exercise has been going on for a while and I believe the plots left are not much.
All the best!
