Ishilove: Any lady who is able to keep her chastity till marriage is a rare gem indeed. A rarity, as scarce as water in the desert. They should be very proud of themselves and hold on fast to it.

However, there are also virgins who are only virgins in body but virgins at heart. They cook up terrible things in the laboratory of their hearts; their minds are dirtier than the dirtiest gutters. I have associated with a couple of them so I know what I am saying.

So what am I saying?

While striving to marry virgins, do not lose sight of the fact that it takes more than sex for a marriage to work. For the fellow who said marrying a virgin will be his greatest achievement, well, it is very obvious that you need a few knocks on the head from the knuckles of life to knock some sense into your naïve head. You are not a virgin yourself, though you are celibate. What of the other women out there who aren't virgins too but are also celibate, just like you? They have repented and their past is washed away by the redemptive power of God's grace and love.

To you the fellow who says she should be paying for marrying her: when you sleep with your virgin wife on your wedding night, she is no longer a virgin. Okay, what next? Does she possess the qualities of a good wife that will bring you happiness at home? What does she have going for her besides her virginity? Is she of a good character? Does she come from a good family background? Is she of sound mind? Is she psychologically equipped to handle marriage and its huge responsibilities?

You need to ask salient questions before getting married. If in your quest to marry a virgin, you end up marrying a virgin alumona (python), OYO is your case.

So back to what I was saying...

Your focus should not be on praying to meet a woman who's life is a testament of righteous living, a woman who will be the bone of your bone and flesh of your flesh, a friend, sister, lover, home maker, spiritual partner etc. While praying, you can ask God to add virginity into the mix. If He grants you your request, all well and good; you have been immeasurably blessed. If not, you are still blessed.

BUT, don't let your mentality be I MUST must marry a virgin!! I MUST MARRY A VIRGIN!!! There are virgins out there who are worse than deadly snakes. Rather, your focus should be on ending up with a partner with whom you will fulfill your destiny with, not one who will destroy your life.

That is not to say we should swallow the spirit of fornication and glory in it!!
