It is no longer about Tinubu, but Nigerians who refused to come out in overwhelming number to protest. If just 1 million Nigerians came out in one city, the overwhelming multitude would force the police and army would get out of the way. Tomorrow you guys would go online to call yourselves GIANT of Africa. Giant Cowards. |
They people always talk about subsidy. They use that to distract Nigerians. NNPC still imports refined petroleum products. There's zero urgency to make Nigeria self-sufficient in petroleum products, and reduce cost, even though, we have the raw material. Wale Tinubu acquired from NNPC the rights to import almost all refined petroleum. Tinubu made himself Minister of Petroleum. High cost of petroleum products enriches Tinubu family. Nigeria, wake up! |
I hope our Yoruba love every aspect of this situation. Meanwhile, Tinubu bought himself a new Presidential jet, and increased the fleet of luxury cars in his motorcade. |
Tinubu is recklessly applying acadamic economic principles. He doesn't realize that 'book' is different from real life. And each country is different, and require different solution. The ugly man is so stupipid. |
The CROOK who is the Police as THUGS to intimidate and arrest investigative journalists is presenting Whistle Blower Bill. Investigative Journalists get information from whistle blowers. |
Police have no right to randomly invite anyone. Police have no right to charge anyone. Police can arrest anyone with approval of the judiciary or attorney general. Only the judiciary can charge anyone. Anything beyond that is thuggery. Tinubu is using the police as thugs, and you are all cheering him on. You all really love dictatorship. Or, are you ignorant? |

Many people here sure love DICTATORSHIP. |
President Propaganda. Nigeria is a joke. |
Anither563:You don't know what you are talking about. Having debts is not a problem, as long as the funds are used to create economic opportunities. But Nigeria is not using the funds to initiate capital investments, such as, export industries that can generate FOREIGN EXCHANGE revenue for the country. For instance, the lavish lifestyle of the government and cost of governance is killing the country. These are funds that can diversify Nigeria's economy, rescue Nigeria from dangerous dependence on crude oil, create economic opportunities, generate sustainable employment, raise the value of local currency, and rescue the people from economic hardship that has caused crime, insecurity and chaos. Nigeria does not even have the basic requirements for industrialization, such as stable and uninterrupted power supply. |
Projects! Projects! And More Projects! Yet, Nigeria is facing extreme lack of economic opportunities which has caused crime, insecurity and chaos. Still, Nigerians can't see through the scam behind all the construction projects. Construction PROJECTS are the oldest scam of Governors and ruling elites. Contracts are vastly inflated, and materials are over-invoiced, so that everyone would get their payoff and kickbacks. Citizens would see a finished sub par project, and the Governor would claim he did something. Tinubu is poised to pull off the same scam with N35.4 Trillion Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. That's why he is squeezing Nigeria to qualify for world bank loan. The project will create FINITE jobs that will end when the project is finished or Abandoned. But he will claim that he created jobs. In advanced economies, leaders are evaluated by creation of economic opportunities. Economic opportunities create sustainable employment. Sustainable employment enhances quality of life and brings a sense of well-being and contentment. Contentment breeds happiness. Happiness leads to peace and social stability. Peace and social stability leads to security. But Nigeria is wracked by crime, insecurity and chaos because of extreme hardship caused by lack of economic opportunities. Constantly spending hard cash without establishing EXPORT industries that will generate FOREIGN EXCHANGE amounts to going around in circles. That's what Governors having been doing for decades with Federal revenue allocation by building roads, stadiums, markets, etc. Anambra State Governor recently built a 5-star hotel!!!! |
The very first day I landed in Jamaica, I was surprised at the strong similarity they have with Igbos and Delta people of Nigeria. |
Reading all the comments here, I am actually shocked at the casual acceptance of corruption by many people. Forget the corruption for a minute. For the apparent conflict of interest, or appearance of conflict of interest. How did Nigeria's crude oil refining capability degrade to a the point that a country of half a million people is the source of Nigeria's fuel? Nigeria is not new in petroleum business. And Nigeria cannot do the basic stuff, even for it's own internal consumption? |
Tinubu forgot to say that Ogun women are Igbos |
I challenge Tinubu supporters: after one year, point to ONE thing that proves Tinubu knows what he is doing. Removal of subsidies and austerity measures are usually requirements of world bank and IMF before a leader can qualify for a loan. It is obvious what Tinubu plans to do with the loan. The same thing has been done by governors for several decades. The jobs created from road construction projects are FINITE jobs that disappear after the project is finished or abandoned. Taking FOREIGN LOAN, without establishing industries that will generate FOREIGN EXCHANGE revenue amounts to going around in circles. Governors have been doing it with their federal revenue allocation. Even Peter Obi did not perform any better. After one year, show me that EXPORT industry initiated bu Tinubu to create economic opportunities, generate sustainable employment, rescue Nigeria from dangerous dependence on oil, raise the value of Nigeria's currency, and rescue Nigeria from further descent into insecurity, chaos and disintegration. Crime and insecurity comes from lack of economic opportunities and extreme economic hardships. Tinubu is squeezing Nigeria, so that he will qualify for a loan, and use the money to create illusion of prosperity. |

President Propaganda. |
People voted for Tinubu despite indisputable evidence that he was was once indicted for distributing narcotics by the US Justice system. Did you people think Tinubu would become less criminal-minded because he is old? Even if Tinubu were not criminal, he has passed the age to undertake radical restructuring of Nigeria's economy. All his policies are World Bank bail out strategy of destroying 3rd countries |
Tinubu has to order them first? Was theft not illegal, on the first place? |
But why are security agencies so effective against regular folks. We have paper trail of Yahya Bello and Ukpeazu's thievery. And nothing is heard about them. |
What should we do to President who own assets abroad? |
Insecurity is a symptom of extreme economic hardship and lack of economic opportunities. Lack of economic opportunities is a symptom of bad government. Singing a song has never quenched thirst or cured hunger. The only lesson here is that Nigeria is wasting money having a Senate. The tragedy is that Nigerians just shrug and let clueless idiots continue to rule them |
It's not magic. You don't need to pray to God. We can do the same. But we can't even provide basic power. The bigger tragedy is that Nigerians have accepted unreliable power supply as normal. Poorer countries and countries at war have more reliable and stable power supply than Nigeria. |
French electricity prices turned negative as a drop in demand and surging renewables output prompted some nuclear reactors to power down. Daily consumption from Thursday through Sunday is seen falling by an average 6 gigawatts, a Bloomberg model shows. Sunny and blustery weather has driven up solar and wind generation, prompting the grid operator to request that Electricite de France SA take several nuclear plants offline. While more clean power is needed across Europe to reach climate goals, soaring renewables output and a lack of battery storage mean reactors sometimes have to be turned off during periods of low demand. It’s becoming increasingly common around weekends in France — which gets about two-thirds of its electricity from its atomic fleet — and also occurs in the Nordic region and Spain. EDF halted its Golfech 2, Cruas 2 and Tricastin 1 nuclear plants, and plans to halt three others during the weekend. Some renewables producers will also have to curb generation to avoid paying a fee amid negative prices. French day-ahead power fell to -€5.76 a megawatt-hour, the lowest in four years, in an auction on Epex Spot. Germany’s equivalent contract dropped to €7.64. Dem go explain for Tinubu tire. Nigeria is almost dead |
Emir01:Government has the funds to start farming on an industrial scale. But they are busy building roads, because capital projects like road construction are quick kick-back schemes, whereby contracts are stupendously inflated, and materials are criminally over-invoiced, so that government officials and other can quickly get their payoffs. Tinubu is poised to pull off the same scam with N14.35 trillion Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. The final cost will certainly be three times the initial projection. And Tinubu is desperately squeezing suffering Nigeria, so that he will qualify for a loan. Taking FOREIGN LOAN, without establishing industries that will generate FOREIGN EXCHANGE amounts to going around in circles. Good roads are vital and necessary for economic growth. But Nigeria is facing extreme lack of economic opportunities which has caused insecurity and chaos. This road construction will not buttress or create sustainable economic opportunities, because, at some point, the project will end or be abandoned. Then, what? At this time of existential economic crisis, any leader who does not create employment opportunities that will generate foreign exchange is pulling a quick get-away scam. |
Roads! Roads! Roads! Ask yourself why these type of constructions are what the government appear to be good at. That is because Capital projects like road construction are quick kick-back schemes, whereby contracts are stupendously inflated, and materials are criminally over-invoiced, so that government officials and other can quickly get their payoffs. At this time of existential economic crisis, any leader who does not create employment opportunities that will generate foreign exchange is just pulling an old scam. |
Eriokanmi:You guys talk about insecurity as if it is an isolated problem. Insecurity is a symptom of economic hardship. The whole problem is due to lack of economic opportunities. Economic opportunities creates well-being, which brings peace and security, enhances quality of life, and breeds happiness and contentment. But you guys think Government can figh symptoms of bad government, instead of focusing on job creation, increasing industrial activities, boosting food production, and improving social services. If you only treat symptoms, the disease will kill you. As a nation, Nigeria is almost dead. |
As usual, Nigerians are getting it wrong. Grow up! Regionalism was the system that fully explored Nigeria's resources and potential. Now, we have States, instead of Regions. So, the idea is to develop along State lines. But MUMU Nigeria will misunderstand the idea, and wreck everything. Regionalism is not a political structure. It is economic decentralization whereby, States have more control over their own destiny, to explore, harness, and manage their resources and products. AND RETAIN MUCH OF THEIR RESOURCE REVENUE!! (Of course, States will pay taxes to the federal government, and make other payments based on their revenues) Decentralization is ONE of the reasons America, for instance, has a diversified, varied, wide-ranging and vibrant economy, because US Government DARE NOT take oil revenue of Texas or Alaska and distribute it to Michigan or other States. Just like Nigeria is allocating resource revenue of Rivers State to every other State. Decentralization is the reason Advanced countries like America or Canada have stupendously vast economic opportunities. Depending on competence and other factors, some States experience economic boom, and, unfortunately, some States lag behind. Decentralization is the reason California is the 5th largest economy in the world - in the world. That is ONE State in the US!!!! Now, imagine, where Rivers State, Nigeria, would rank if Nigeria did not practise an over-centralized system that equalizes all States in the federation, thereby nationalizing poverty. Nigeria is basically sabotaging itself. (But there's a reason, which we can discuss later) |

erad:Governors have been building "structural assets," as far as far as you can remember. And since "structural assets," are so pivotal, why, then, is the country facing existential economic hardship that has spiralled into insecurity and chaos? Nigeria is almost dead, and you people can't see it is due to lack of economic opportunities. You are too MUMU to see that building "structural assets" with finite funds amounts to going round in circles, If you could read very well, you'd see the part that said "roads are vital and necessary for economic growth." But the money they use to build roads is actually finite, because it comes from federal government revenue allocation. My point is that States must think beyond revenue allocation, and generate their own revenue (not internally.) The only way out of present existential economic crisis is to create employment opportunities that will generate foreign exchange. Industries that will generate foreign exchange is the only way Nigerian economy will diversify, and rescue Nigeria from dependence on oil, create economic opportunities, raise the value of Nigeria's currency, and rescue Nigeria from further descent into insecurity, chaos and disintegration Government of Anambra State recently commissioned a 5-Star Hotel. How does that make sense? Ex Governor Ikpeazu's N10 Million Airport is still no where to be seen. And you and other Nigerians are too MUMU to see that the country is going round in circles, and drifting towards anarchy and disintegration. Like the leadership that is importing arms to fight insecurity, you probably think the problem is isolated from economic hardship. No amount of arms would make a difference. Insecurity is a symptom of extreme economic hardship and lack of economic opportunities. It is not a problem that can be solved with arms. Nigeria's main problem is ignorance of people like you. |
