A torrent of criticisms has continued to trail the plan to sell at N1,500 each the commemorative T-shirts to mark the burial of Nollywood actress, Moji Olaiya.

The burial committee announced the price offer on Friday while unveiling the two-day burial plans for the actress to journalists slated for Tuesday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Lagos respectively.

Olaiya died on 17 May of cardiac arrest three months after she was delivered of a baby girl in Canada. She was 42 years old.

Yomi Fabiyi, the Publicity Secretary of the committee said that people who would be interested in participating in the burial could buy the T-shirts.

A statement by Moji burial committee quoted the family as saying younger brother of the deceased, Yinka Farinde, who received the autopsy report of the deceased disclosed that poison was not linked to Moji’s death.

The Kogi chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has suspended its 10-day old strike to give room for dialogue with State Government.

In a statement issued after its Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) in Lokoja on Saturday, signed by its Chairman, Dr. Godwin Tijani, the association said the decision to suspend the strike was unanimously taken to honour the Kogi paramount ruler, Attah Igala, and other imminent stakeholders, for their intervention.

“NMA has agreed to suspend its strike for two weeks to enable prominent personalities and stakeholders, mediate.

“Since the Attah of Igala, NMA National President and our honourable members of the House of Assembly have requested the association to suspend the action and give them time to intervene, we have no choice than to honour them.

“We will reconvene in a forth night to decide on the way forward if no positive progress is made and our demands are not met.

The Islamic terror group, Boko Haram has released another batch of more than 80 of the Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted in mid-April 2014.

A top military source just broke the news to Saharareporters.

According to the source, the release of the 82 abducted school girls came after further negotiations between the Islamist group and the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday told the Federal High Court in Lagos that no one has come forward to claim the about N15 billion cash found in Flat 7B, Osborne Towers, 16, Osborne Road, Ikoyi, Lagos.

It, therefore, prayed Justice Muslim Hassan to make an order of final forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government.

The judge, while ordering a temporary forfeiture of the money on April 13, directed EFCC to advertise the order in a newspaper so that anybody who owns the money can claim it within 14 days.

EFCC’s lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, said no one showed up in court to show cause why the money should not be permanently forfeited.

The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) had reportedly claimed ownership of the money, following which the federal government launched a probe and suspended NIA Director-General, Ayodele Oke.

EFCC, in an affidavit in support of the application for final forfeiture of the sums, deposed to by a Detective Inspector, Mohammed Chiroma, said Oke’s wife, Folasade, allegedly owns the

The Kogi Government on Friday, threatened to terminate the appointment of any of its staff, under its health sector, that participates in the ongoing indefinite strike by doctors in the state. Mrs Kehinde Lawal, the State’s acting Head of Service, made the threat in a circular she signed in Lokoja on Friday.

According to her, the state government will also adopt the policy of ‘no work no pay’ for any doctor on strike.

Lawal further said government was doing its best to make sure that all the salary arrears of cleared officers, by the screening committee, would be paid within the shortest time possible.

About 470 houses were destroyed and no fewer than 40 people injured by rainstorm at Mayama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

A team of Lagos State officials, yesterday, inspected a portion of Iga Iduganran palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, which was gutted by fire.

Tragedy was averted on Tuesday at the “Eleko” palace after a fire outbreak allegedly engulfed his private chambers.

Although, it was promptly put under control by fire fighters from the state, not after it was said to have destroyed traditional regalia.

A Government House source told Daily Sun that the visit was at the instance of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who was said to have lamented the fire outbreak.

“The visit was necessary to ascertain extent of damage as well as see where the government can come in, because it is our responsibility to handle such an issue when it arises,” the source said.

Expressing shock at the fire incident, he said: “Everything humanly possible will be done on the burnt portion of the palace.”

A French mother has been brought back to life by police officers, who performed CPR an hour after paramedics declared her dead.


The unnamed woman, a long-time anorexia sufferer, was found collapsed by her 18-year-old daughter after an apparent heart-attack.


Paramedics rushed to her home in Paris’s 13th arrondissement but were unable to revive the 49-year-old.

But police who came to write a report noticed movement in her stomach.

Le Parisien reports that the ambulance team had declared her dead at 18:10 (16:10 GMT) and signed her death certificate.


But the two police officers – who arrived an hour later to write a report into the cause of death – noticed the movement when they lifted the blanket covering the body.
