Ahadith is always, even the weak one starts with "on the authority of so and so, and so and so and so", until the sahabah's name is mentioned and will be followed that statement from the Messenger (AS) not his wife, or any companion (RA)! Thats what an ahadith is. Statement from Aisha, if true should not be an ahadith. And a test of the matter is you finding out when was she born, relative to the advent of islam of Muhammad! Thats how to be sure.

There in the house I saw some Ansari women who said, "Best wishes and Allah's Blessing and a good luck." Then she entrusted me to them and they prepared me (for the marriage). Unexpectedly Allah's Apostle came to me in the forenoon and my mother handed me over to him, and at that time I was a girl of nine years of age. Volume 5, Book 58, Number 234
