So can't we get one person in West Africa who has successfully nailed this Ptvsports?. Here in Ghana, 1.8m pan dish could not kill ptv bird. I'm particularly interested because of their English commentary
Kwameking forget this 1.8m pan for ptv sports it would not work however I know someone who got it with a 5m locally made pan in Tema-Ghana.

[quote author=blexxonmak post=30827326]@ap4real. You got to create (drill) a water drain on your dish.[/quote

Guys thanks for this advice I have been thinking about draining water from my dish.Is this good for a pan dish? Should the holes be very tiny or just nail size? Would it affect signal quality particularly fringe sat. Your comments would be appreciated
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by staddos: 11:12am On Jan 30, 2015
@irukandji89 you better use the 6 o'clock skew for all the lnb's that you mount else you will stay in the sun every day.I have the strong dish and it took me over a month of study and research to get it right. For me was difficult to hit green with 12216V27500 so use 12335V27500 or any of Eutelsat 16A tps then maximize the signal. From here the rest is easy if only your setup is correct.Note that 36E & 28.2E are on your left facing the dish.Mount the dish with the elevated part in the north and lower part south. So your dish should be facing south.Hope this helps.

@ pboy2buzy the paint is not good so you may lose signals on some satellite
IHacked why not suggest the name or type of good paint to pboy2buzy. I am sure it will benefit us all so he does not come back to ask which paint can do the job well. This is just a suggestion.

Hello gurus in the house I would appreciate your opinion on this issue.Which of these Strong receivers SRT 4669X and SRT 4669XII would you recomend for tracking and tuner sensitivity? Is there any other thing that make one better than the other assuming they are all genuine receivers.I need to make a choice.

Please how does the MTI highline quad compare to the Inverto Black Ultra quad on your 3m dish in terms of signal quality in percentage and the number of channels or transponders? Is there any changes in the signal levels of ur Horizontal transponders as compared to the vertical ones.

ucheo: Good evening.

Please I tracked IRIB package with 1 meter dish, the highest frequency is 60 in the night. By midday it will drop to 54 and signal is lost. my location is south east. Abakaliki to be precise. Please can be done to improve this. My installer is advising that we should increase the dish size to 1.5 meter dish. Good advises are welcomed. LNB na supermax
My brother your installer is right. You need to increase your dish size to get a stable signal 24/7 on irib channels. I would even recommend 1.8m for trouble free IRIB

goodieuzo: how do i get H-H motor for 1.8 dish?help me
My brother I dont think the H-H motor is meant for a 1.8m dish. I believe what you need is a linear actuator like Super Jack. I hope your dish is a prime focus type.Be sure of the type of motor your dish requires before you purchase in other to be on the safe side.

faithchild: is it at chinasat or arabsat, thank u and also between ghana and nigeria which is closer to d bird
IT4ALL I beg to disagree with you. Even I am also located in Ghana there is enough evidence to prove that Nigeria is closer to both Arabsat and Chinasat. Check from satebeams. On the equator both satellites are on the Eastern side of Ghana and Nigeria and Nigeria being on the eastern side of Ghana how can you conclude that the satellites are closer to Ghana than Nigeria?I think the answer is the contrary so come again my brother.

olenyi: What's the size of ur dish?

If its a 1.8 and u intend using ku, u could use intelsat 20ku and nss7 as ur reference points.

For a bigger dish say 2.4m, use intelsat 906 3642 V 8545 for ur east and cnn 3983 V 25000 for ur west and intelsat 10-02 4025 V 7324 for ur middle point as ur reference points.

Regards.
Oga Olenyi thanks for your response but am confused. Are you saying that if the dish is to be used for both Ku and C band one would have to do the alignment for both C and Ku band. I read in the library material about motorising a dish that one should use SES 5/ASTRA 4 to align the dish. What I wanted to know can one use either a C band or Ku band satellite to do the alignment and peaking the signal and you would be good to go or you have to do the alignment for both C and Ku band if you intend to use your dish for both C and Ku band.

Hi Olenyi and other gurus in the house, which satellite is best to use for ones settings during installation of amotorised system? Is it Rascom-QAFR @ 2.9 degrees on C band or Astra 4A/SES-5 @ 4 degrees on ku band? Does it really matter if you use C band or Ku band since there is only one Clarke's belt on which we have all satellites. In your experience which do you recommend? Guys your views would be greatly appreciated.

fomat11: what i have here is 4.0W AMOS 2,3. NO AMOS 5. SOME HELP.
Fomat11 Amos 5 is on the East not West. It's precisely at 17 degrees East however most of the receivers dont have Amos5 in their list of satellites. So use Eutelsat 16A at 16 degrees East to scan for Amos 5 channels. These are the tp's u hsve to input manually in Eutelsat 16A. 11801 V 27500,11801V27500,12216V27500,12335V27500,11091V30000,11156V45000,11007V30000. odilibe: My 2.4mtr pan antenna now disabled..very strange! Inverto black ultra quad offset lnbf with cut feed-horn beats inverto red classic c120 quad and inverto black pro twin c120 lnb on my 3mtr locally made dish pointing to nilesat 7west in Enugu...while the red classic quad lnb slightly better than the black pro twin c120 lnb on my 2.4mtr dish..

Finally tested amiko alien 2 ..in nigeria with android phone hotspot open wifi all web application ¤ iptv, webtv, web portal; filmon tv etc working very well in nigeria..though needs high speed internet that is all for now

Cheers
Pls Odilibe, can you post pictures of the cut feed-horn you mentioned in your post. Secondly it would be good if you could also explain in detail the test you conducted on Inverto black ultra,Inverto Red Classic and Inverto black pro. Lastly did you get the same results on both 2.4m and 3m dish?

olenyi: No u don't need to go buy a spare. U get it when your's fails, from friends, neighbours, etc. U just keep it in case of a situation like this. Actuators, actually are meant to last for life. Just dat once in a while, it's condition of service makes it vulnerable to damage.

Perform the tests I listed for u and get back to us.

Regards.
Thanks Olenyi for your help. After doing all that you requested me to do I still had ER-2 showing on the G box. Finally I had to go for a new actuator (motor). On close examination of the two motor I realised that the inner tube and ball bearing of the old motor was not as firm as the new one I had picked from a friends shop.I suspected the the problem was from the motor. I replaced the motor with a new one and the Error message Er-2 disappeared and the 2.4m pan dish was dancing sweetly from East to West hunting for birds.Keeping the old motor as a back up for its electrical parts.
