CluelessMODS:

Your dad must be earning big.

That was then. Pre-1982. Life was too good.
We started feeling the pinch from 1982. By 1986/87, the changes in our family finances for the worse became evident.

The devaluation started with Babangida SFEM policy.
Second tier Foreign Exchange Market.
Yes.
There was a gradual devaluation before Babangida jargon of economics policy, but the real point of no return started with sfem.
My father bought a Peugeot 505GL at the cost of #6,000 ( six thousand naira only) in the year 1985.
Bought a Bedford lorry 5 tons at the cost of #11,000 the same year.
I can categorically remember my father and his friends saying that the vehicles are now costlier than they expected.
Now in Nigeria, what can we do with any amount up to 999,000 naira?
I just believed that life was much more easier then.
Hope is not lost

God will punish Kalu Idika Kalu and Chu SP Okongwu. They brought this shit upon us.

What do you think of the value of the Naira?

Totally messed up. In 1975, my dad could buy that Peugeot with 3 months pay. As of his retirement, he would need 7 years pay to buy the same brand new car.

Quite true. However, it can't be up to 60%.

There are some coded electricians that can alter the operations of some of those meters. However, they would not do it for every and anybody. It's highly coded.
I know someone in particular, morning and night his air conditioning units are always on. In fact, most times even with no one at home, once there's power from the grid, you will hear both outer units working full blast.

All who participate in such, both electrician and user, are all booking their places in hellfire in the judgement to come. We will all answer to how we lived to our Maker.

Good afternoon fam,
Hardworking farm workers are available at ilorin, kwara state, they are from the north but are hardworking and are ready for yearly payment.
You feed and house them, their yearly settlement is 350k which you pay by December, but commission and transportation is 60k for each worker payable immediately you receive them.
For details, call or whatsapp on 09031668036

So if they run away after one month, will you refund that commission?

Pete Edochie represents integrity. I am not sure you know his early history as a journalist during the Verdict '83 elections, and how he has stayed consistent to his values over the years.

Not like some people we know.

Folks, this is how the entire racket works.
After they have fed fat on the populace, they push one of their own into govt to protect their interests.

Alex Otti was a banking top wig. This kind of deal must have been pulled off in the golf course.

Meanwhile the BATIfied and OBIdients will be wasting their energy on social media.

I went to ColdStone the other day with my better half and we wanted to get our usual cup with three flavours, only to be told that the price was now more than N7,000. Something I used to buy N4,600. Even the cup with one flavour is now N5,000.

What? Absolute nonsense. We just stormed out of the place in anger.

Na so I go buy the regular FANMilk product for N3,700. The one I posted some days back that is now half size.

I have resolved not to eat ice cream more than 4 times a year. I have already done it twice.

Exchange rate is not a good judgement of a country's economy.

Nigeria is still the cheapest country to live in, in Sub Saharan Africa.

You won't appreciate Nigeria until you go to other African countries.

Use that money to start a business or go to school of nursing or masters and apply to teach in their Universities! It is better than going to any African country to teach secondary school students.

The bolded is a fact. The issue is the purchasing power of our currency and the salaries are generally low. Minimum wage should not be less than N100,000.

I knew from description that you were talking about Ogun state free trade zone.

Worked there Jan 2020 as a production supervisor, got unconfirmed by the managements and advised to leave by end of March. The same month I got interview call of my current job.
work from 7am to 7pm for 2 weeks and 7pm to 7am for another 2 weeks. We have an hour break, they started feeding us since the outbreak of the pandemic. Sundays was our only off days.
I saw the money but I was lean as a dying patient.

Thank God for taking me out of that hell hole.
Most Chinese are demons.

Have you been to a typical factory in China? Those guys work like machines. Unfortunately, our climate cannot fit that kind of work pattern.

One villager's goats have been eating my cassava leaves. I sent her a stern warning that if they stray into my farm again, that is the last she will see them.

Some of you spend a lot on whores and alcohol. Repent from your evil ways.

Politics / Re: Worsening Economy: Stop Floating Of Naira Immediately, Sagay Tells Tinubu by stagger: 2:07pm On Feb 22
History555:
I concur. Stop this floating stuff immediately

How?
The managed float system previously used requires the CBN to defend the currency by selling dollars.

Where is the dollars? Emefiele took a loan from two investment banks and used 70% of Nigeria's foreign reserves as collateral. Even the recent loan taken from an international finance institution used the entire crude proceeds for a year as collateral.

So where will CBN get dollars to go back to the managed float system?

As long as you learnt the ropes of the business and the man blessed you at the end, you will make it.

Joseph was sent to prison for 13 years. He was a slave and was falsely accused by his oga's wife. Things were rosy for him in that house until his oga's wife carried the same trouble the daughters of Eve are known to carry around with them everywhere.

But God promoted him and made him prime minister of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. If it can turn out well for Joseph, the same God can make it right for you. Do not harbour ill-feelings against your oga and his wife.
