Leaders of foremost socio-political organizations in Nigeria have berated the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government over the persistent killings across the country.

They berated the Buhari-led government over its failure to find a lasting solution to the killings across the country.

The leaders from the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Afenifere, Ohaeneze Ndigbo, and Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF stated this in a communiqué they issued after a summit yesterday in Abuja.

Signed by each leader of the organizations, the communiqué said various infractions being experienced in the country are “steadily eroding public confidence in our hard-earned democracy”.

They noted that the nation was witnessing “unprecedented incompetence” from the government.

The communiqué reads, “The summit observes as follows: that the general state of insecurity and incessant killings in Nigeria have escalated in recent times with several communities at the mercy of marauding killers.

“The present administration had identified security as one of the three pillars of its change agenda. However, the country’s entire security and law and order assets appear incapable of arresting the drift towards a state of anarchy.

“Summit, therefore, observes with regret the negation of this administration’s commitment and undertaking to provide security to all Nigerians.

“That the country now witnesses unprecedented incompetence and enthronement of mediocrity in dealing with the horrendous spate of killings and general insecurity across the country.

The police have stated that they cannot investigate the alleged forgery of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, exemption certificate by the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, because there is no formal complaint against her.

The Force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, told newsmen yesterday in Abuja, that the Nigerian Police was not aware of the allegations against the minister, adding that no one had come forward to lodge a complaint against her.

“There must be a complaint, either written or verbal to us. You must write to a divisional police station or the Commissioner of Police or to the Inspector-General of Police; we have not received any complaint, so we can’t investigate it (allegation of forgery),” Moshood, acting Deputy Commissioner of Police stated.

Asked if the media reports of the allegation were not sufficient for the police to initiate a probe, the spokesman stated that police detectives could not initiate an investigation based on newspaper reports.

He insisted on a written or verbal complaint to the police, noting that this was the basis for all police investigations.

“I have not read the report of what you said was published in newspapers. As I said, we can’t investigate the allegations until there is a verbal or written complaint against her (the finance minister),” the police explained.

… Asks NASS to approve N164 billion as Virement , Supplementary for 2019 Election
…Wants NASS to remove N228 bn from the inserted N578 bn in the 2018 budget for critical projects

ABUJA – ONE Month after the 2018 budget was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari, strong indications emerged yesterday that fresh crisis looms between the Executive and the legislative arm of government over the burning issue of insertion of N578bn into the N9.12trillion 2018 budget by the lawmakers.

In a letter to the Senate Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the National Assembly to remove a total of N228 billion as reinstatement from the inserted N578 billion in the 2018 budget to fund critical projects.

In a letter read yesterday at plenary by Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, President Buhari told the Senators that not less than N242 billion would be required for the conduct of 2019 general and Presidential elections.

President Buhari in a letter sent to National Assembly dated July 11 which was addressed to Saraki, however explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Security agencies have submitted their requests in preparation for 2019 general elections.

According to the President in the letter, a proposed sum of N164 billion should be provided for through virement or supplementary of the 2018 budget.

President Buhari in the letter seeking for Virement or Supplementary, explained that out of the proposed N242, 445, 322, 600.00 billion estimated funding of the 2019 general elections , N164.104billion should be appropriated for by the National Assembly through Virement while the balance of N78.340billon would be provided for in the 2019 budget provisions .

According to him, a total amount of N228, 864, 008, 215 billion was required to be vired from the N578bn inserted into the N9.12trillion 2018 budget by the National Assembly for the projected N164bn for election expenses this year and the balance of N64billions for restoration of votes into critical projects earlier removed by the federal lawmakers.

President Buhari in the letter explained further that the urgently needed N164bn for funding of the 2019 general elections are to be allocated as follows , INEC – N143,512,529,455.00 bn; N3,855,500,000 bn for the office of National Security Adviser; N2,903,638,000 for DSS ; N1,845,597,000 for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , N11,457,417,432bn for the Nigeria Police Force and N530.1million for the Nigeria Immigration Service .

It would be recalled that President Buhari had last month while assenting to the N9.12 trillion 2018 budget , lamented that the National Assembly inserted a total of 1,403 new projects into the budget amounting to N578bn, just as he vowed to send an amendment/supplementary budget to the federal lawmakers for required remedies .

If the President’s request for N228bn virement is approved, it means that the balance of the inserted sum would be N350bn.

President Buhari’s letter is titled, “REQUEST FOR VlREMENT & SUPPLEMENTARY 2018 BUDGET”

Buhari Media Organisation (BMO), the media arm of Presdient Muhammadu Buhari campaign team has accused the Peoples Democratic Party as the brain behind the recent killings of innocent Nigerians in Plateau State.

The organization in a statement jointly issued by the chairman, Mr Austin Braimo and Secretary, Mr Cassidy Madueke, on Friday in Abuja, said opponents of APC wanted to replace the party’s recent successful national convention with tears, sorrows and blood.

PoliticsMKO Abiola: Afenifere Chieftain, Adebanjo Give Reasons Why They Won't Vote Buhar by stainlessmedia(op): 11:48pm On Jun 16, 2018
A chieftain of the Yoruba socio-political organisation, Ayo Adebanjo, has said the President Muhammadu Buhari won’t get votes in the South West despite honouring the late M.K.O. Abiola.

The constitutional lawyer insisted that the Yoruba race will not be deceived into voting Buhari in 2019.

Speaking with ThisDay, Adebanjo said Buhari has not done enough to deserve a second term.

He said, “Thank you (President) Buhari for doing what is right, although belated. Full stop! Nothing more. If he is going to get any vote it will depend on his performance in the last three years, and not to give emergency recognition just to get votes, that doesn’t work with the people of Nigeria or of Yoruba land, we are no dunces.

“I appreciate this good thing he did; nothing will deprive me from saying that he has done well by doing this thing, although belated. I don’t want to read any meaning into it. It is a thing I have been agitating for, however belated. Even in his (Buhari’s) own case, he has been there for three years, but he didn’t do it until now. There is no question of drawing a red herring. If we begin to go into why he did it, it will defeat the benefit of the good thing that he has done. Let us acknowledge the good thing he has done and don’t read any other meaning to it.

PoliticsBuhari’s Performance Has Shown He’s Not Messiah People Expected – Senior Lawyer, by stainlessmedia(op): 10:52am On Jun 03, 2018
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ntufam Mba Ukweni SAN has observed that Nigerians are sad and disappointed with President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration.

Speaking with STAINLESS MEDIA on phone on Saturday, Ukweni said, “If President Buhari had lost the 2015 presidential election again, may be the country wouldn’t have been where we are today.

“Boko Haram would have been on the increase, the north would have been more divided and polarised because they would say, they were not given opportunity to rule and that if Buhari was allowed he would have performed magic, turned the country round and Nigeria would have been the most prosperous country.

“So, it is good that he has been given the opportunity to be there for people to know and see that it is not the tribe or religion that makes the difference.

“It has given opportunity for people to compare that the man we were thinking is a messiah after all is not messiah.”

According to the SAN, the people of the North have realised that the president must not necessarily be a Fulani or Hausa before people can benefit.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has said that a four-year term is inadequate for political office holders to achieve their plans.

He stated this in a chat with Financial Times in Lagos, while answering a question on Nigeria’s manufacturing capabilities.

“There has been a lot of damage to the environment in terms of business and all that, but correcting that would take a while, don’t forget that we (this administration) are barely three years old. And we are focused on doing the right thing”, he said.

“I think that for anyone who is in office, it (four-year term) would be too small, because obviously you have all manner of plans and things to deliver. But my take is that the moment you have the right people and you put the right structures in place, you can do a lot, and I think we’ve been blessed with an incredibly good team.
