Hello guys.
Pls i urgently need your help. I fed my fish with catfish intestines on wednesday. They started having swollen abdomen from thursday, one or two died that thursday. Because my pond is 16 by 17ft wide and the water outlet is just 1 inch pipe. The water finished drainin on friday morning. I did little flushin before applyin my anti bacteria medicine and salt. They did not stop dying many died yesterday. Today some have still died. Many still have their tail peeled off, though some are doing very well. I stocked about 330, about 80 is gone now. This is my first stockin, pls help. Am using a concrete pond, i have two ponds but one is cracked, so is only only pond am using.

Pls, I want to ask. Is It OK to feed my fish with my formulated sinking feed, den at the same time feed the fishes with a locally formulated floating feed. Wot am trying to say is, let's say I give them my own formulated sinking feed, den after about 20 minutes, I give them the local floating feed ( say vita feed) in other to see if I fed them with my own sinking feed to saturation.

U start with d amount of money u av, amount of fish u know u can train well. Just book 300 naira for each fish. U can use imported feed for d first 2 months, den u switch to local feed. After d first 2 to 3 months, u can b giving dem imported nd local feed together.

Ur fish are eating each other because u stocked d tank more dan u should. No enough space for d fishes. And, try to sort ur fish too, dat will reduce d mortality.

40 naira per fingerlings weight average weight of 10g each..

3 bags of 2mm coppens feeds for 17k each

60 bags of 3mm and 4mm vital feeds for 7500 each

For 5 months water changing .. 50k
Drugs.. 10k
Labour of boy for 5 months at 8k every month..

From the above

40 x 1000 pieces that is 40k

3 x 17000 that is 51k

60 x 7500 that is 450k

50k water

10k drugs

40k labour

All together

641k expenses..

Average kg after harvest is 800kg multiplied by 800 rate

640k

Diffrence is 1k loss

All I gained is experience... And willing to learn more..

Oga, first of all, fingerlings is usually 10 or 15 naira, it is juvenile dat can b around 30 to 40 naira. D water issue, why couldn't u just get a borehole, or create a well dat can give u constant water. Den, why couldn't u maintain ur farm urself, instead of paying 10k monthly. Well, all in all, I tink u r d cause of ur loss.
Were some of ur fish hitting 1kg?
