EducationRe: Nigerians Will Start Going To University In Burkina Faso - David Hundeyin. by stanech: 11:37am On Jul 04
Burkina Faso’s situation is complex and showing polarized trends, with notable improvements in the economy and infrastructure offset by severe political regression and ongoing security crises.

The country is experiencing a mixed trajectory:

The economy has shown resilience with an estimated GDP growth of 5.3%. This momentum is largely driven by a historic surge in gold production and improved domestic revenue mobilization.

Under Captain Ibrahim Traoré's administration, the country is executing multiple national development projects, including highway expansions (such as the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso Expressway), agricultural irrigation schemes, and mining sector reforms aimed at national self-reliance.

Extreme Poverty: Extreme poverty rates have seen a decline due to robust growth in the agricultural and services sectors.
PoliticsSowore Collapses After Police Tear-gassed Abuja Protesters by stanech(op): 1:09pm On Jun 12
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has reportedly collapsed and was subsequently taken to a hospital following a confrontation with the Nigerian police during a Democracy Day protest at Unity Fountain in Abuja.

Witnesses at the scene alleged that Sowore collapsed after police operatives moved to disperse protesters gathered to demonstrate against insecurity, economic hardship and what they described as poor governance

The protest, which attracted scores of activists and civil society groups, was disrupted after security personnel deployed tear gas canisters in an apparent attempt to break up the gathering.

It was reported that chaos erupted as protesters scampered for safety amid clouds of tear gas. In the confusion, Sowore was reportedly affected by the tear gas and subsequently lost consciousness.

Supporters and fellow activists immediately rushed to his aid and evacuated him from the protest ground. Sources close to the activist said he regained consciousness while being transported away from the scene in a vehicle.

Following the incident, Sowore has now been reportedly taken to an undisclosed hospital for further examination and treatment.

The incident heightened tensions at the Democracy Day protest, where demonstrators had gathered to express concerns over rising insecurity, economic challenges and governance issues in the country.

What about cost of transportation and shipping? there is no way they can't find a way to reduce the price except someone is lying to us.

We own crude oil but we can't refine it ourselves so we sell to another country that refines it and we buy the finished product at a higher price and then subsidize the finished product again and sell to our people . We are seriously a sick country.

We should be refining our own crude.
We are probably the only top oil producing nation still importing refined petroleum products.
It should be made unconstitutional for us to import petrol.
We have the worst set of people among as our leaders.
Nigeria is wealthy, infact one of the richest countries. But there's something wrong with the leadership of this country. I am suspecting some foreign powers are trying really hard to hold us down.. We need God at this point.

so why are they complaining that there is no money to pay subsidy?

Measures on top of reduced revenue from debt servicing and poor oil revenue?

Nigeria has always been a broke country. We rely on oyel money for everything. At the moment it is impossible to keep on doing so.

And yes, I wish it was otherwise. I effing wish we could keep subsidy. But the alternative is a few years of self deceit before it all comes crashing down on us.
Nigeria is not a broke country. thay are stealing the money

I think op is comparing LPG and PMS, CNG will be more cheaper sef on Generators
Can we use CNG on that device?
PoliticsRe: Running Petrol Generator Is Still Cheaper Than LPG. by stanech: 10:56am On Jul 05, 2023
Workch:
LPG is has very low density, hence the calculation we have is 1kg of LPG contains 20.7megajoules of energy.
PMS is denser hence produced more energy per KG than LPG.

1 litre of PMS produces 31.5 megajoules of energy.

1 litre of fuel is 500
1kg of LPG is 550.
Fuel is still cheaper unless you have an explanation for energy efficiency with LPG cuberator.

The advantages of LPG is that it's neater and does form carbon deposit on carburetor and for those who want to be storing it for a long time, it doesn't degrade and evaporate from carburetor.
Most of us dont leave fuel in our generator for long hence petrol is still cheaper than LPG.
I used about 10k LNG last week. but I normally use about 22k of fuel on the same gen before I converted.

PoliticsRe: No Fuel Subsidy Payments Have Been Made To Marketers Since 2016 – NNPC Limited by stanech: 10:47am On Jul 05, 2023
I don't get it. Would it not be better to have given the crude oil to the people that refines it for a fee and then send the finished products to us? that way we only have to pay for the cost of refining and transporting?

Why are our leaders this wicked?

The number one driving force of an economy is available and cheap energy. Any government that wants to fix the economy must radically address the power problem.....

Yes, and the Nigerian state, doesn't give welfare, social security payments, doesn't give adequate financing to start ups and SME's, doesn't provide water, not enough social amenities...what's the incentive to pay further taxes?

A nation can't tax it's way to national all round prosperity, rather it's by encouraging investment, spending and production, we must become a productive country, at least, government should make it a policy that everything we eat must be produced in Nigeria, we can start from this, with this, we will reduce our imports receipts to about 60% or less of what it is now, and this will have a direct positive effect on our currency exchange value.
You are right. There is also fuel importation. We are a country of 200millolion people we should be exporting and not importing our goods. He should also focus on electricity I don't even care about loans Nigerians are hardworking it is just that the government is not making things easy. Taxing the poorest in the country is a crime at this point. It is wrong.

True, and this will eat into their disposable income, which will slow economic growth, savings, job and wealth creation. Government should really understand multiplier effects.
exactly. The best way to increase revenue is not to tax the poor but to increase the number of rich and middle class people. The poor are chocked enough.
