Windows 10 Will Be a Free Upgrade for People Running Windows 8 and Windows 7 By Dan Tynan Windows 10 Will Be a Free Upgrade for People Running Windows 8 and Windows 7 Here’s some good news for Windows fans the world over. Microsoft will allow you to upgrade from Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows Phone 8 for free to Windows 10. During today’s unveiling of Windows 10 for consumers, Terry Myerson executive vice president of Microsoft’s Operating Systems Group, revealed that the company will allow users of its most recent operating system, Windows 8.1, to upgrade free to its upcoming operating system in perpetuity. The 600-million-odd users of Windows 7 will have a year to take advantage of the full upgrade. For more great tech news, follow Yahoo Tech on Facebook right here! The last time round, Microsoft charged $120 to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 — one of the possible reasons the vast majority of Windows users declined to make the move. This marks a significant shift in how Microsoft views Windows, Myerson says. Windows is no longer a static operating system but a constantly evolving service. “The question of, ‘What version of Windows are you running?’ will no longer be a thing,” Myerson says. “Windows is a service. Users will always be up to date.” image In the Live Stream, Microsoft also announced that Cortana, its artificial intelligence-powered personal assistant and competitor for Apple’s Siri and Google Now, is coming to desktop PCs and Microsoft’s new Spartan browser. Cortana will be able to answer questions, manage your schedule, send emails on your behalf, and much more, says Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president of the Operating Systems Group. “She’s like another member of the family, sitting around waiting to get things done,” says Belfiore. The red light district babes has throne their weight behind the APC presidential aspirant Muhammed Buhari for the 2015 general election coming up on Valentine day this has promised to declare 3 days of free kpekus if Pa Buhari emerge victorious lol check out. Commercial sex workers in the nation under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Prostitutes, NANP, have thrown their weight behind the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. NANP stated it would declare a-three day free sex across the country if president Jonathan eventually loses the seat to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of APC. Recall that the group had in 2013 declared one-week free sex after the Super Eagles defeated Burkina Faso to lift the AFCON trophy after almost 20 years. A statement signed by the group’s General Secretary, Jessica Elvis noted that NANP was not happy with Jonathan’s government over the way commercial sex workers were being treated in the country since he assumed office as the first citizen. It described Jonathan’s government as the worst in the history of Nigeria, saying that it recorded the lowest income during his tenure. The statement also quoted Elvis as saying that several approaches to the presidency to legalize prostitution were turned down. LINDA IKEJIST recalls that a female prostitute, Patoo Abraham last year led protests in Lagos to seek a better place for prostitutes in Nigeria. Abraham who heads the Nigerian chapter of African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) and the Women of Power Initiative (WOPI), led the protests with demonstrators wearing T-shirts screaming “Sex work is work, we need our rights”. “We are tired of dying in silence; we want to be able to practice our profession with pride like every other person. We want an end to name-calling and stigmatisation. We are sex workers and not asawo [a derogatory Yoruba name for prostitutes]”, She told Aljazeera. “Sex work is normal work and there are sex workers everywhere under one form of disguise or the other. The government should stop criminalising our work”, she further said. Backing Abraham’s point, Elvis said for failing to legalize prostitution, the group would not support Jonathan for a second term. “We sent a proposal to the government in March 2, 2012, almost a year after Jonathan was fully elected as president of Nigeria on the need to legalize prostitution. That was when our late president, Micah Ejoyo was alive, but the presidency rather declared war on us by arresting some members on the street of Abuja. “Most of them are students who are using the job to pursue their education. We all cannot work in Aso Rock, NNPC or Shell. We don’t rob people. We are using our endowment to fend for ourselves. We deserve to be respected. Enough of this hypocrisy because even Jonathan and his team are not saints.” Speaking further, the statement as obtained by LINDA IKEJIST on Friday enjoined all members of the association to come out en mass come February 14 to vote out Jonathan from Aso Rock. “We are calling on all our members and every Nigerian in particular to join the march. No to Jonathan! Because under Jonathan’s government, we lost over 400 members in the north to the Boko Haram insurgency and we are not ready to lose anybody again. We would be declaring a three-day free sex if God eventually sends Jonathan out of Aso Rock. You can count on us. We did it before and we can do it again. Enough is enough,” the statement added. A People Democratic Party, PDP, House of Representative aspirant, Aisha Osori, has denounced the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress, APC, after losing on the platform of the PDP. Ms. Osori announced her defection on Tuesday in Abuja while briefing journalists at the APC national secretariat. Ms. Osori emerged loser at the recent AMAC/Bwari federal constituency primary in the Federal Capital Territory. The incumbent member of the House from the constituency, Zaphania Jissalo, emerged victorious in the primary. Mr. Jissalo got 89 votes out of the 107 cast to defeat Ms. Osori and three others. Ms. Osori, who was presented with the membership card of the APC, told journalists she decided to defect after watching the APC primary because she believed in APC’s vice presidential candidate, Yemi Osibanjo, who was her lecturer at one time. “I decided to denounce membership after watching the APC conduct its presidential primary in a fair and competitive manner and after seeing the combination of Osibanjo and Buhari, both men of integrity,” Ms. Osori said. “Osibanjo used to teach me at the University of Lagos, faculty of law, I believe that is a great combination that would move the country forward and I want to be part of that team,’’ she said. According to her, the APC slogan “Change” is enough reason to support the party as she was sure of winning the on the platform of APC. Ms. Osori noted that more than 70 per cent of Nigerians were youth who wanted the change that “APC represents’’. On what her contribution would be to ensure the success of the APC at the general elections, Ms. Osori, who leads the non-governmental organization, Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund, cited experience. “The years of experience I garnered in the private sector as a lawyer and also as writer, first with Thisday and later with Leadership newspapers, will be of value to APC. Reacting to the defection, the APC National Secretary, Mai-Mala Buni, who presented the membership card to Ms. Osori, expressed delight because his party was waxing stronger by the day. “Such event will be a continuous thing. Our doors are open. Everybody, who is ready to join the party, is welcome anytime, any day,’’ he said. koonbey: #FreshAir?? well I guess that's subjective...whether or not Buhari is a Power hungry old Man,whether or not APC is full of Thieves same as PDP;the Fact remains that it is not healthy for a Democracy if one Party remains in Power for as long as the PDP has and are planning to.I quite agree with you for the interest of our democracy, but i am of the opinion that one who has got plan to correct the wrong in the country should have a structure instead of infiltrating their fold some undesirable mind with the quest to rain in power even though they are part of the problems |
You say PDP is the problem of the country. Yet you go around wooing PDP officials to your party. Buhari's antics has once again proved him a power-hungry old man. He should go home and enjoy the monies he stole while in government instead of burning it on yet another presidential elections. I should say that the chances of Buhari ruling this country again is as remote as the chances of a rabbit emerging king of the forest. You didn't steal from our coffers yet you have the money to stand three (and counting) presidential elections. This is not the time for an archaic, cantankerous, spent out, 20th century religious fundamentalist who is coming to shackle us with a hybrid of theocracy and socialism. This is a time for meaningful progress, a time for conspicuous transformations, a time for fresh air. |

Giant Fukushima Mutant Turtle Finally Captured By Japanese Military Noto, Japan – Japan had to call on US naval seal teams to help reel the the iron-shelled beast in. Weighing in at over 7 tons, the locals had taken to calling the newest Fukushima mutant クッパ大魔王, quite literally translating to The Great Demon King Koopa (Bowser) of modern lore. Some residents claimed at night its eyes would glow red as it emerged from the waters, usually hungry for small children or cattle, but its appetite knowing no true limit. Other residents say the great demon turtle could be heard wailing in the distance, bellowing out toward the heavens and speaking ancient Japanese, the words they say were a call toward the dark gods of ancient. Truly, this may have been a beast of the apocalypse, as far as locals in the decimated town of Noto, Japan, are concerned. When US special forces were finally called in, one soldier recalled, “We watched the target gallop down a highway, running head first toward a brave semitruck driver determined to be heroic and knock the damned monster out with kamikaze tactics. Japanese officials frantically called him on his CB radio, telling him to turn around. I would say the turtle was running a good 20 miles per hour, it was insane! It was crazy.” “The semi hit the giant turtle dead on and there was a huge explosion. The truck: decimated. The Fukushima turtle winced a bit in its eyes and then ran its tongue over its face, savoring the spent pieces of burnt metal and charred human flesh from the explosion. Suddenly, it made eye-contact toward where we were hiding and seemed to catch our scent. We evacuated by chopper and all our small arms fire did not put a dent in the beast, we may as well have been 6-year-old children throwing firecrackers.”

Couple Get Married Completely Naked In Bizarre Wedding Ceremony For most brides and grooms, deciding what to wear on the Big Day is one of the most important parts of wedding planning. But one New Zealand couple didn’t have to shop for wedding outfits — because they got married in the Unclad. Nick and Wendy Lowe were married at the Wellington Naturist Club on Saturday in a “clothing optional” wedding, reported local newspaper The Dominion Post. About half of the 120 guests were Unclad. Both clothed and Unclad photos were taken, and though guests were asked to dress for dinner, the dancing portion of the event was clothing optional. Nick encouraged Wendy to embrace the “naturism,” or nudist, lifestyle six years ago. “It was one of the first things he said to me: ‘I’m a naturist, how do you feel about it?’ I knew at some point I’d have to at least try it,” Wendy said. Check out more photos from the Lowes’ Unclad wedding below:

The pictures may be difficult to look at, but 18-month-old Roona Begum's story of survival is remarkable. Soon after she was born in a remote village in northeastern India, Roona was diagnosed with an extreme form of hydrocephalus -- a disorder causing cerebral fluid to build up in the brain. Doctors had given Roona just a few months to live. "Day-by-day, her head started growing bigger, she stopped wanting to eat, she would just lie in bed, it became very difficult for us to carry her and take her anywhere," says Roona's father Abdul Rehman says. Roona's head grew to a circumference of 94 centimeters, almost triple the size of a normal baby. There were ten liters of excess fluid inside her brain. Her head was so heavy she could barely move. Hydrocephalus is more common among infants and older adults. The condition is caused by overproduction, obstruction or lack of absorption of the cerebral fluid in the brain. The skin of her head has stretched so far, it pulled her eyelids over her eyes, making it impossible for Roona to see. Her mother, Fatima Begum, would draw eyebrows on Roona with black kohl everyday just to try and make her look more normal. "She had such a big head, it was scary for people to see her," Fatima explains. Roona may be Abdul and Fatima's only child, but they couldn't afford to treat her. Roona's 18-year-old father works at a brick kiln earning less than $3 a day. For more than a year and a half, they took care of Roona in their two-room mud hut, with little knowledge or means of doing much else. In April this year, a journalist took photos of Roona and soon people all over the world including two Norwegian students Natalie Krantz and Jonas Borchgrevink were moved by her condition. Krantz and Borchgrevink put Roona's photo on a crowd funding website, hoping to raise $1,600 to cover her shunt surgery. In two months, they raised double that amount, and by August 2013, they raised more than $60,000. They've transferred half of this amount to the charity arm of Fortis Hospital in New Delhi for her treatment. The hospital covered the remaining half of the expenses. The students plan to send the remaining amount for Roona's aftercare. When Roona arrived at Fortis, her condition shocked even chief neurosurgeon Sandeep Vaishya, who has treated hundreds of children with hydrocephalus. "We had never seen anything like that and we were completely clueless as to how we'd go about treating her. There was no precedent of treating a child with such an extreme case of hydrocephalus. We learned as we went," Vaishya says. Initially, Vaishya wasn't hopeful about the surgery. Roona was malnourished, she had major infections on the back of her head from the pressure of lying down all day, and her skin was very thin and delicate. Cerebral shunt is the standard treatment for hydrocephalus. It's a simple procedure which involves inserting a drainage tube to keep the fluids flowing at the proper rate. But due to the size of Roona's head and her small, frail body, Roona's treatment was particularly challenging. Vaishya says the surgery posed a huge risk to her life, and at one point they almost lost her. Much to the relief of her parents and her doctors, Roona has pulled through. After five surgeries, Roona's head is now down to a circumference of 58 centimeters, still larger than the average 38 to 48 centimeters, but small enough to allow her to live a reasonably normal life. She constantly moves her head around, she is playful and most importantly, she can now see. She is finally getting the chance to be the baby she really is. "It feels really good to see her now, she looks beautiful and happy," Fatima says. Back in her village, Roona has become the center of attention. It's still painful for her to sit up but she smiles a lot, and her eyes, now visible, keep wandering in a frenzied pace. "We want Roona to read and write once she grows up. Both of us (mother and father) are illiterate so we don't want her to be like us. We want her to have a bright future," Fatima says. It's too early to tell if Roona will ever be completely normal in her appearance as several operations still lie ahead, but the signs thus far are promising. |

A juvenile has been arrested by Spokane police in connection with the beating death of an 88-year-old World War II veteran this week, police said Friday. The male suspect has been charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree murder. The man -- Delbert Belton -- was beaten and left for dead by two teens outside a lounge in Spokane, Washington, where he loved to go play pool. The motive? Police don't have one. The teens appeared to have picked him at random, authorities say. A retired aluminum company worker who served in the Pacific, Belton, friends say, took a bullet in the leg during the Battle of Okinawa. He survived that attack. But on Wednesday night, Belton -- affectionately called "Shorty" by friends for his height -- headed to the Eagles Lodge, where he was a regular. Police found him in the parking lot, with serious head injuries. The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office on Friday said the cause of the death was blunt facial and head injuries. It also said in a news release that the manner of Belton's Thursday death was homicide. "It does appear random," Spokane police Lt. Mark Griffiths told reporters. "It appears he was assaulted in the parking lot and there was no indication that he would have known these people prior to the assault." Officers had been using dogs to search for the suspects, swept for fingerprints on the chain link fence in the area where they were last seen headed, and scoured through surveillance tapes. It's the second time in a week that a seemingly random attack by teenagers has claimed a life. On August 16, a 23-year-old Australian baseball player attending college in Oklahoma was gunned down in the town of Duncan. One of three teens police arrested in that shooting said they carried it out because "we were bored and didn't have anything to do." 'All there is is bad news' The randomness of the two attacks was not lost on Ted Denison, who's been friends with Belton for a long time. "It's really depressing," Denison told CNN late Thursday night. "Seems that all there is is bad news." The two men met more than 20 years ago and worked on cars together. "We were mechanic buddies," the 42-year-old Denison said. "We just kind of kicked right along." But the friends also hung out together outside the garage. "We went dancing on Saturday nights," Denison said. "We went out to breakfast together." Belton stopped by the Eagles Lodge two or three times a week. He played pool, but by his own admission, wasn't too good at it. "He went up there and played pool, met with some of the guys he used to work with at Kaiser Aluminum," where he was employed more than 30 years, Denison said. His wife died several years ago. The World War II veteran is survived by a son, 65. 'It didn't seem real' Barbara Belton, Delbert Belton's daughter-in-law, told CNN's Alina Machado in a phone interview that Delbert's friends first called her about the attack. The news was shocking and disorienting. "It's almost like you're not really focusing in on what they're saying," she said from the Spokane area. "It didn't seem real." Later, she said, an intensive care unit doctor told her that he had been beaten so badly, doctors "couldn't stop the bleeding." She broke the bad news to Belton's son: her husband, William, who is suffering from cancer and happened to be in the hospital "He was upset," she said. "It's a terrible way to have to die." Asked what she would say to the perpetrators, she said: "What motivates you to do such a horrendous thing to an old man?" "He didn't drive a big fancy car. He didn't dress in expensive clothes. He didn't have a lot of money. He had very little money," she said. "What did they think they were going to get from this man?" Waiting for a friend On Wednesday night, Belton was outside the lodge waiting for a friend because he didn't want her to walk home alone, Lillian Duncan told The Spokesman-Review newspaper. "He was so awesome," Duncan told the paper. "Anybody that didn't get to know him missed out on a wonderful angel in their life." Outside the lodge Thursday, friends and strangers alike left flowers, flags and messages for Belton. Belton never had problems outside the lodge before -- no threats, no altercations, Denison said. "If he had, I would have made sure I was there."

The Grassroot Democratic Initiative, has joined the Press Statement war to outline the atrocious decision to swear in the Acting CJ through the back ----------------------------------READ MORE---------------PRESS STATEMENT CHIEF JUDGE OF RIVERS STATE AND THE CONTRIVED CRISES OF SUCCESSION: GOVERNOR AMAECHI RAPES THE PROVISIONS OF THE NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION IN CONNIVANCE WITH HIS ATTORNEY GENERAL AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE RIVERS STATE CUSTOMARY COURT OF APPEAL 1. In the early hours of today, August 20, 2013 an act of rape of the 1999 Constitution took place at the Government House Port Harcourt when Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi swore in the President of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu as the Acting Chief of Rives State on the advice of his Attorney General Worgu Boms, Esq. 2. Prior to this glaring act of constitutional rape, both Amaechi and his Chief Lawyer, Boms, Esq. boycotted the valedictory session held in honour of the retiring Chief Judge of Rivers State Honourable Justice Iche Ndu OFR on August 19, 2013 ostensibly because they allege that the High Court of Rivers State under the watch of Honourable Justice Iche Ndu was not effectively used as a tool of political vendetta against their perceived political opponents. 3. How did Governor Amaechi and Attorney General Boms rape the 1999 Constitution? The answer is below. 4. First, the Constitution creates nine (9) Courts namely: (1) The Supreme Court – section 230(1) of the 1999 Constitution; (2) The Court of Appeal - section 237(1) of the 1999 Constitution; (3) The Federal High Court - section 249(1) of the 1999 Constitution; (4) The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory – section 255(1) of the 1999 Constitution; (5) The Sharia Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja – section 260(1) of the 1999 Constitution; (6) The Customary Court of Appeal of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja – section 265(1) of the 1999 Constitution; (7) The High Court of each State of the Federation – section 270(1) of the 1999 Constitution; ( The Sharia Court of Appeal of a State – section 275(1) of the 1999 Constitution; and(9) The Customary Court of Appeal of a State – section 280(1) of the 1999 Constitution. 5. Flowing from this structure, we have the High Court of Rivers State and the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State as constitutionally provided. These are two distinct Courts with different judicial personnel (Judges), administrative staff and spheres of jurisdiction. 6. The methods of appointment of the Judges of the two courts are also different. The mode of appointment for the High Court of Rivers State is governed by section 271 of the 1999 Constitution while that of the Customary Court of Appeal is governed by the provisions of section 281 of the 1999 Constitution. 7. The jurisdiction of the High Court of Rivers State is provided for by section 272 of the 1999 Constitution. The jurisdiction of the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State is provided for by section 282 of the 1999 Constitution. 8. Secondly, where a vacancy occurs in the office of the Chief Judge of the State, section 271(4) of the 1999 Constitution provides that until a substantive appointment is made filling the vacancy, the most senior Judge of the High Court of Rivers State shall be appointed to perform the functions of the Chief Judge of Rivers State in an acting capacity. It does not say most senior Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State or President of the Customary Court of Appeal Rivers State, but the most senior Judge of the High Court of Rivers State. 9. Thirdly, section 281(4) of the 1999 Constitution provides that where a vacancy occurs in the office of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State the most senior Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State shall act in the office until a substantive President of the Court of Appeal of Rivers State is appointed. It does not say most senior Judge of the High Court of Rivers State. 10. It follows that for the position of acting Chief Judge of Rivers State, Judges of the High Court of Rivers State and Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State are not interchangeable. 11. Now, Amaechi and Boms in clear violation of section 271(4) of the 1999 Constitution refused to swear in Honourable Justice Daisy Okocha who is the most senior Judge of the High Court of Rivers State in an acting capacity until the procedural niceties of appointing a substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State are fulfilled. Honourable Daisy Okocha happens to be the same Judge of the High Court of Rivers State that both the Rivers State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and the National Judicial Commission (NJC) have recognised as the new substantive Chief Judge of Rivers State and recommended for appointment to Governor Amaechi. 12. Governor Amaechi does not have the constitutional power (as much as he would wish he had) to appoint the Chief Judge of Rivers State be it in a substantive or acting capacity outside the provisions of section 271 of the Constitution. 13. Governor Amaechi and Worgu Boms have just done that. They did so in connivance with Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu whose hunger for the office of Chief Judge of Rivers State in order to play effective lap poodle to Governor Amaechi knows no bounds. At last, Governor Amaechi can now use him as the point of contact in the Rivers State Judiciary for the terrorising of perceived political opponents. 14. We can forgive Amaechi, he is not a lawyer. We can forgive Worgu Boms, Esq. he clearly lacks the experience and comportment required of the office of Attorney General. But should Justice Agumagu who is a past Chief Registrar of the High Court of Rivers State and who was called to the Bar nearly 40 years ago be forgiven for participating in what is first and foremost a constitutional rape and secondly, an affront to the powers of the NJC as provided in paragraph 21(c) of the 3rd Schedule of the 1999 Constitution? 15. We wish to inform the good people of Rivers State that: (1) Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu is not a Judge of the High Court of Rivers State. (2) Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu is a Judge of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal. He in fact heads that Court which should ordinarily make him satisfied and fulfilled. (3) Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu is not qualified, pursuant to section 271(4) of the 1999 Constitution, to be appointed as Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State as he is not the most senior Judge of the High Court of Rivers State. (4) Honourable P. N. C. Agumagu is a clear usurper of office of Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State. 16. We state without equivocation that Governor Amaechi having found that he no longer has a pliant Police to do his bidding has swooped on the Judiciary and in Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu has found a willing tool to oppress the people of Rivers State. 17. We urge Governor Amaechi who has a non-performing Executive arm of Government; a comatose Legislature; and who now seeks to destroy the Rivers State Judiciary to voluntarily resign from office. Governor Amaechi is clearly a danger to democracy and the Rule of Law and shall continue to remain such a danger as long as he holds high political office. 18. It is apparent that Governor Amaechi is now completely bereft of any ideas of good governance, observance of the rule of law and due process. As the Bible often says when a ruler embarks on self-destruction – “the Holy Spirit has departed from him”. 19. We advise Honourable Justice P. N. C. Agumagu, President of the Rivers State Customary Court of Appeal and pretender to the office of the Acting Chief Judge of Rivers State to make hay while the sun shines and return to his duty post as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal of Rivers State. His Lordship knows that he is not a Judge of the High Court of Rivers State and anything he does or purports to do in the period of his usurpation are null and void. Please sir, do not further lend your name to this insane travesty. 20. Finally, we remind Attorney General Worgu Boms that there is professional life outside the office of the Honourable Attorney General. He should look back at history and remember two former Attorneys General that the office diminished rather than enhance.
