I was also worried about the pre-CAS interview till I did mine and to tell you the truth, there is no big deal.
One thing about the interview is that it prepares you for other things. If for example the VO decides to interview you for any reason, you will be ready

I did mine for #7,500 in port harcourt. You can you use google to check the location of Population Census office in Lagos or ask people around you that might know their office. it should not be hard to locate

Maybe you can attach an attestation letter from population census stating your correct age and submit to ukvi when applying. The attestation serves as a birth certificate for you.
It took two days for me to do an attestation.

Try asking more people or even the school you applied to for proper guidance.
Most schools usually don’t grant unconditional admission till this is sorted because they know it will be a problem if you apply to ukvi without sorting it out with them first.

I had the same issue.
The date of birth on my WAEC and international passport differs slightly in terms of the day and month but the year is the same. The school I applied to asked me to provide an attestation letter from the Nigeria Population census office. I did as I was told and got my unconditional offer of admission the following week which was earlier this month.

It's quite simple. Just go to the bank with an affidavit stating the name on your passport as the official. They will change the name on your account and bvn to the one on your passport. Take the affidavit and passport with you to the bank. That's how i did mine. It was effective thesame day, before i left bank sef. All it cost me was 1k for affidavit.

Thank you for your response but my issue is not even with the affidavit.
I was at my bank yesterday & the customer rep I met asked to get an affidavit & newspaper publication of change of name.
This is very strange to me because it is not like I’m changing my name or I want to stop bearing my middle name. I just want the middle name removed so that the name on my bvn can correspond with the rest of my documents. I plan on going to my branch on Monday to see if they will accept just the affidavit.

Also my statement of account carries my middle name but my international passport and the rest of my documents only has my name and surname, hope this will not be a problem?
