Egypt’s association have called on FIFA, to explain why the votes of its national coach Shawki Ghareeb and captain Ahmed, were not taken into account, after they were sent in on August 15.
Ghareeb and El-Mohammadi are not mentioned in FIFA’s publication of official votes.

Their statement “asks FIFA why the Egyptian vote was not accepted” and goes on to confirm the EFA have opened an “investigation” into the circumstances of this failure.
Also, Sudan’s coach Lugarisic and Nicaragua’s Juan Barrera took to social media, to claim that the votes published by FIFA, in their names, did not reflect their actual choices.
Lugarisic says his first choice was Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, but FIFA’s voting document showed Messi as his first selection.
Barrera is also adamant that he did not vote for Messi, as claimed by FIFA.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has lashed out at the referee for awarding a late penalty to Osasuna which saw them equalise against the defending La Liga champions in the 81st minute.

Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident: 6 Killed, 24 Other Casualties Rescued



A Mazda bus travelling from Lagos overtook and collided with the Toyota bus travelling on the opposite direction of the road.

At least six persons were killed in a head-on collision between two commercial buses at Ogere on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
About 24 persons, including two children were injured in the crash.
The crash occurred on Friday.
The auto crash involving a white Toyota bus with registration number ABC 932 XJ and a Mazda bus, FST 820 XD, was caused by speeding and dangerous overtaking.
A Mazda bus travelling from Lagos overtook and collided with the Toyota bus travelling on the opposite direction of the road.
The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Clement Oladele, said the crash occurred around 8.30 am.
He said the crash could have been avoided if motorists had strictly adhered to construction speed of maximum of 50 kilometers per hour and refrained from overtaking around construction zones.
He said, “A total number of 30 people made up of 19 male adults, nine female adults, a male child and another female child were involved. Twenty four persons comprising 16 male adults, six female adults, and the two children were injured. Unfortunately, the crash led to the death of six people, three male adults and three female adults.”
Oladele added that the casualties were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere and Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
“The seven other victims were rescued to the Idera Hospital Sagamu for medical attention. The corpses of the six passengers killed in the crash were deposited at OSUTH Mortuary and FOS Ipara Morgue,” he added.
He stated further, “Motorists are once again advised to regard construction zones, especially diversion points as areas requiring extra caution with speed not exceeding 50 kilometers per hour. They should also refrain from overtaking at the construction zones to avoid this type of unfortunate crash.”

Tribunal sacks Dino as Kogi West Senator


By Boluwaji Obahopo, Lokoja Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial district has been sacked by the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal.

Melaye (PDP) was declared winner in the February election by INEC, but Senator Smart Adeyemi (APC)challenged the victory at the tribunal, alleging irregularities, over voting and non compliance with the electoral acts. The three man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke in a unanimous judgment on Friday accepted Adeyemi’s ground and ordered a reelection into the senatorial axis. Senator Melaye is the flamboyant supporter of former Senate President Bukola Saraki from Kwara.

Both were originally members of the APC when the party came into power in 2015 but soon fell out with the leadership of APC that opposed the emergence of Saraki as Senate President. Sonorous Senator Melaye was noted for high drama in and out the Senate.

When he was not waxing songs and dancing to deride the opposition, he was at war with his state governor or the police authorities over sundry allegations. Aston Villa collected their first Premier League points of the season as goals from Wesley and Anwar El Ghazi gave them victory over Everton.

Man nabbed while attempting to leave with hotel’s TV in his bag in Benue (photos)

A yet-to-be identified man got more than he bargained for after getting caught with a Plasma TV he stole from a hotel in Makurdi, Benue state capital.
The suspect was nabbed with the Plasma TV placed in a trolley bag after the hotel’s security insisted on running a check. Facebook user, Vera Iyo notified other hotels of the new antics employed by robbers as she shared photos from the scene of the incident.
She wrote;
“This guy came to kyabiz hotel mkd, Gboko road to steal this plasma TV but unfortunately we cought him.this should be a warning to other hotels, this ppl are not joking oooo. While he was caught he had keys to order hotel rooms, should incase you have a missing Tv in your hotel check E division.”

In his news conference on Friday, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he wanted Martial and Rashford to be more clinical in front of goal.
He might well have been talking about the cross Rashford floated over to the far post midway through the opening period.
It is easy to imagine someone like Alan Shearer taking every defender with him in his desire to make sure the ball ended up in the net. Martial barely extended his right leg, let alone made contact as the opportunity drifted away.
What followed underlined just how many goals the Frenchman is capable of getting if he did adopt that ruthless streak. It was part of an excellent opening period for the visitors, only spoiled by the booking winger Daniel James received for diving.
The second half was a different story but United probably would have won had Pogba not missed his penalty.
The key question is why was Pogba taking it?

Martial's effort turned out to be the only shot on target in that first half of three efforts on goal. There hasn't been a top-flight game with fewer since 2003-04, when such statistics started to be collated.
It also meant Wolves had managed only two shots on target in the first match and a half of their Premier League season, something that will need to change if they are to match last season's excellent seventh-placed finish.
Having beaten them twice at Molineux last season, Wolves were aiming for a third successive win against United for the first time in almost 40 years. After a disappointing opening period, Adama Traore's half-time introduction changed the game in their favour.

Before this season, Molineux would have erupted in joy at Neves' wonderful equaliser, those watching on TV would have said 'wow' and the Manchester United fans would have shrugged and accepted they had seen a phenomenal goal.
Instead, home celebrations were cut short as referee Jon Moss took instruction from the video referee Paul Tierney on a potential offside. The decision eventually went their way but the Wolves fans were loud in their collective view that the ends do not justify the means.

Customs seize N5b worth of banned tramadol in Lagos (Photos)

Officials of the Nigerian Customs Service have seized truck-loads of banned drugs including tramadol and other illegal drugs worth N5 billion in Lagos.
Joseph Attah, the spokesman for the service took the press round a warehouse where the trucks of the intercepted items were parked at the Ikeja Training College of the service. Attah said the Comptroller-General of Customs Strike Force in Zone ‘A’ stumbled on the contraband.



According to him, the smugglers believe that festive period is a time of merriment and less vigilance, “but our officers intercepted the illicit drugs as the smugglers attempted to move it from Lagos to other parts of the country’’.
“On Aug. 13, at about 2 a.m, operatives of the Headquarters Strike Force Zone A intercepted a truck laden with dreaded codeine, tramadol and other controlled pain killers along Maryland, Ikeja road.
“The intercepted trailer contains illicit drugs and was immediately brought to the attention of the team leader of the force, Assist. Comptroller of Customs Usman Yahya, who deepened preliminary investigation that led to the discovery of a warehouse along Oshodi-Mile 2 road.

“The warehouse was stocked with tramadol, codeine and other unregistered pharmaceutical products without the National Agency for Foods Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) number,” Attah said.
He said the warehouse was immediately sealed with a detachment of well armed officers to guard the place. Attah said the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), had already directed a thorough investigation with a view to bringing all those connected to the drugs to justice.
