There are two reasons why IT auditors should use General Audit Software (GAS) products, such as Audit Command Language (ACL).

Firstly, there is the focus on fraud in recent years, according to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and its 2009 "Report to the Nation" survey on fraud, more than 60 percent of all frauds are detected either by a tip or by accident. While internal audit has moved up on the list, there is clearly room for more proactive antifraud programs.

Secondly, is that the demands on IT and internal auditors are increasing and auditors will need to become more efficient to fulfill all of the responsibilities and tasks assigned to them, and having the knowledge on Audit Command Language is one way to do so.

This helps you to reduce the time you use to audit and also enable you to conduct your activities in a most efficient manner.

Using ACL empowers you as an auditor to possibly have a better sense of direction in your audit procedures.

You will be able to perform some audit procedures to gain an understanding of the data (e.g., using PROFILE, STATISTICS commands in ACL). During these procedures,
You will be able to spot an anomaly or red flag
(e.g., negative amounts where there should be none).

The data in ACL are locked down as read-only.

There is no chance for the auditor to inadvertently change the data.

This inadvertent risk is much higher for IT auditors who choose to use a spreadsheet for analyzing and presenting transactions. While one can lock cells or sheets in Microsoft Excel, there is still the possibility of human error. It is almost non-existent in ACL.

It is a few days until the CITN exams……….. EXAMINATION DATES is Tuesday,

16th & Wednesday, 17th April, 2024.

Nothing dey happen, we will face the exam.


Years ago, few days to CITN exam, one of our students called and asked me that

“What are the areas of concentration as I conclude my last minute preparation? ”


I just replied him that “If you had asked me the same question two months ago,

maybe I would have helped you, but it is late now, just keep solving past questions”

Then he asked another question “since I am writing CITN exam for the first time, what are the do’s and don’t ?”

These are the some of the suggested DO’S and DONT’S few days to CITN exam.

DO’S

• Know your exam center ahead.

• Make a visit to your exam center if you are chanced.

• If your location is far from the exam center, Move to a hotel close to your exam center.


• Make sure your calculator and writing materials are in good condition.

DON’T

• Don’t go late to your exam center, lateness could destabilize you.


• Don’t interact with anyone while in the exam hall, this could be passive as malpractice.


These do’s and don’t might seems too basic, but it is better to do the right thing to avoid the “stories that tough”

There are steps you can take to calm down, reduce your stress, and get on with your life as you expect a favorable result.

1. TRY NOT TO GO OVER THE EXAM QUESTIONS:

You have already written the exams, nothing can be done about that, just pray for God’s favor.

Do not go home and start checking your textbooks for the correct answer to the exam questions. This will only increase tension and anxiety. You have written the exam, so put your mind at rest.

When I was in the hostel, back in the university, my roommate checked all the correct answers to the exam questions, he shouted “Mogbe oo ” that is, “I am finished ooo” and he fainted.
I guess he noticed that he didn’t do well.

But to our surprise, he passed that exam.

Why put yourself under unnecessary stress and tension? You have done your best, so leave the rest for God and the examiner.

In fact, most of us are so used to getting interrupted while studying, even when there is no notification on our phone, we still check just to be sure.

focus and assimilation while revising.


1. TURN OFF THE DISTRACTIONS

You may want to turn off all notifications from smartphones and

desktops applications. Consider checking email only four times per day and handling each inquiry only once.

Controlling your devices and not having that technology control you, may help reduce distractions and increase your focus and level of assimilation.

You have spent a lot for this exam, so don’t allow anything to deprive you of SUCCESS this diet.

I just can’t pay much attention to others things happening at home and in the office, even in church as I listen to the sermon, my mind was just fixed on CIS exams.

It is not that I am actually scared, though sometimes I do feel scared and my heart rate will start breathing faster for split seconds.

Just as a reminder, it is just 26 days to this diet CITN exams.

The first phase of success in an exam is to believe in yourself….. Be Optimistic.
Though you have to study well for SUCCESS to be guaranteed.
Negative thinking is like a giant wall, it can prevent us from accomplishing our goals (exam success).
If you are optimistic and did not study well…….. You are on you own (“oyo”).
But the irony is that,
Even after studying well, you still have to be optimistic to pass your exams.
According to Helen Keller “Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement”


So, how can you be optimistic for your CITN exams?


• ELIMINATE NEGATIVE THOUGHT

Have you experienced the situation whereby you are just feeling like
“what if I fail CITN exams”,
especially when the exam date is fast approaching?
It is important to eliminate all the negative feelings and thought by
replacing them with positive words.
Say to yourself “I know I will PASS this diet” ,
“My Success is a must this diet” “I study both hard and smart to clear my CITN exams” ,
“I look forward to a great result” , “I succeed even in stressful situations”
This is known as AFFIRMATION.


Do this AFFIRMATION preferable when you wake up in the morning
and before you go to bed at night.


I did an experiment last diet by placing some CITN students in a group, before then,
these students have been having challenges passing their CITN exams for years.
So while they study hard to pass CITN exam, they also do their Affirmation every morning and at night.

When the result was released, they all passed. One of them asked me
that “Sir which Juju you use” …… I replied that
“Na power of Positive Affirmation oooo , no be juju”

I will continue in the next article because I don’t intend to make this article too lengthy.

A student once called me for advice on what strategy he can adopt to pass the next diet exam. According to him he has at least 3 textbooks for each course in addition to the ATS pack.
