The truth is that, it is not your fault that you are very busy at work,
you are actually busy because you are very relevant at work,
so don’t blame yourself that you could not write CITN exam for last diet.

Over the weekend, I received WhatsApp chats from some of our students,
they all told me how they have been very busy and that they have not
started preparing for this diet CITN exam.
The question is that, is it possible to study for CITN exams if you have a very tight schedule?
YES IT IS.
The next question is, how is that possible?

……You need 1 hour per day for 30 days to finish a paper (inclusive of questions and answers)
……You need 2 hour per day for 30 days to finish 2 papers (inclusive of questions and answers)

You may ask, how can I spare 1 per day?
These are my suggestions;

• You can wake up very early on a daily basis and study for at least 1 hour before going to work.

When I was studying for my ICAN Exam, I started
Studying 5 months before the actual exam.

Everyone thought that was way too early.
However, I knew that
there was no harm in starting early
and
you could never go wrong by doing that.

Being a typical student who is
subject to distractions and procrastination,
I allowed myself to
take a one-day break from studying every week to catch
up on all of my activities that are not study related.
I would study from the beginning to the end of the week and
then be lazy for one whole day of every week.

Hence, we will look at 3 reasons why you need to prepare early

1. IT GIVES ROOM FOR UNPREDICTABLE EVENT:

Apart from the fact that
Early preparation helps you guarantee your success in the exam,
it also help manage other facets of your life like
family commitments, manage stress and

I have had to counsel a lot of parent on the issue of their children

So for me, I wanted to be able to:


 Evaluate risk management practices


 Evaluate the value of the IT control framework

 Evaluate IT policies, standards, processes and procedures within the organization.


 Manage and monitor IT personnel.


In order words, I not only wanted to be an auditor but I wanted to be an IT auditor.


After I became a member of ISACA,


there was an opening at the organization where I worked,


the chief auditor resigned.


So the directors decided to do an in-house recruitment instead of outsourcing since


they knew some of us where chartered.



At the interview, I presented to the board how


I was going to establish audit controls within the organization


I also pointed out to them some leakages and


the sources of those leakages,


I presented some technology controls which

I suggested were to be adopted in the IT department of our organization


in order to curtail some of the excesses.


By the time I finished the presentation,


they told me right there that I had the job even though


they interviewed the others.



That was how I became the Chief auditor of my company


which more than tripled my income.

the 2017 convocation.
Olajuwon who hails from Osun State
explains his road to academic success.

He said when he was in secondary school,
he found it difficult to choose between
Commercial Class and Sciences.
According to him, while his father
preferred sciences because
of his desire for him to become a medical doctor,
Ezekiel had interest in business line.
Though his father had flare for sciences,
Ezekiel disclosed that he never forced him to read
sciences, but encouraged him
to do commercial course.

Today, I’m grateful I did not regret that decision,’’ he said.

Stressing the extent to which Accounting
appeals to him, he noted that Accounting
is a course he loves , adding that Accounting is
seen as a language in business. He, pointed out
that in future, he hopes to acquire
knowledge in other areas relevant to business
such as Business Law.

Asked how he coped with combining
school and professional exams,
he said: ‘’It’s all about setting ones’ priority right!
For instance,
since my 100-Level I got engaged in
professional exams. I started from
Accounting Technicians Scheme West Africa (ATS),
then to ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria)
and then ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).

Really, it was demanding; but if you love what you do,
it is all about-
this is what I want to do and I must give my best to it.”

I had prepared very well for this ICAN exam and was so confident after finishing the video lectures twice and answered a lot of past questions and even score 80% in the mock exam I did.

Sitting down in the exam hall with smile on my face that reflects the assurance of someone that is so sure of success. My docket, pen and calculator were on my table.

As the exam begins, I read through the instruction first, then started solving the questions. I pick up my calculator to do some calculations and to my amazement, my calculator had stopped working….. “Oh my God, I was doomed”, that is what I said in my mind…… I started sweating profusely and I became so disorganized because the course was 90% calculation.


My confidence started dropping and I noticed I started forgetting what I have read….. my brain was going blank.
I summoned courage and decided to quietly borrow a calculator from a lady beside me, but I was caught and sent out of the exam……… I wept like a baby and went home so hopeless.

LESSON 1: A day to your ICAN exam, check your calculator, docket and writing materials and make sure they are in good condition.

LESSON 2: If you need to do anything with another student, It safer to ask for permission from the examiner.
