As parents, we become more anxious when our children get to the teen age; 13, 14 or 15years. You begin to really worry about how your child’s future is going to turn out

Because this is the time that really determines how well and fast your child can succeed in life- this is what all parents wants right?

This feeling increases especially in SS3 when your child is about to write his or her Senior WAEC, and most of this worry comes with the fact that a lot of student fail their WAEC/NECO/GCE examination or don’t get to pass all their paper at one sitting especially the important subject’s like Maths and English

I was having a chat with my neighbor on a Saturday morning about how our week went. He told me he will like to retire soon and start his own business but his major worry was his last daughter

Then I paused and asked him why he said so

He said he wanted her to quickly get into the university before he retires. His major concern was that she may have to write her WAEC twice just like her elder brothers did

I was surprised so I asked why he thought that

His take was that WAEC/NECO/GCE had been set up in a way that most students cannot pass their papers at a sitting

According to him, during her brother’s time he made sure they went for extra lessons and even employed a private tutor for them but they still had to write the exams twice

He just wished there was a way his daughter could write her exam in SS2 and quickly move to the university before his retirement

I sensed the worry in his voice so I told him he needs to do something different for his daughter if he doesn’t want her to repeat her exam twice

He was very interested in knowing how. So I told him about the WAEC video lecture

He was surprised there was something like that. I explained to him that he doesn’t have to pay for extra class and extra tutors because the WAEC video lecture is self explanatory, and it covers all the topic in the WAEC Syllabus which some teacher won’t be able to cover

And the most interesting part is that it can be repeated over and over which is what is really important to learning and understanding, like we all know the more you repeat particular information the more it stays longer in your memory.

Have you ever been so afraid of failing an exam like CITN just because
you have failed before, so you decided not to try it at all?
Many of us have probably experienced this at one time or another.
The fear of failing can cause us to do nothing and therefore
resist moving forward in our career. But when we allow fear to stop our

A student asked me what to do after failing CITN exams twice,
I asked him about is mode of preparations in the past exams.
He explained that he was always very busy at work and
also works on weekends , so he had no time to prepare

No exam is actually difficult or simple,

but why are student failing exams

if no exam is difficult?


Deola had written CITN for more than 3 times

but didn’t pass any, so he is now frustrated

In today’s business environment, computers are continuing the revolution started in the 1950s.

IT has transformed many professions and the accounting profession especially in an organization is not an exception.

This is because auditing work is done using paper work but in recent years, IT has changed the way audit is performed in many organization.

There are two reasons why IT auditors should use General Audit Software (GAS) products, such as Audit Command Language (ACL).

Firstly, there is the focus on fraud in recent years, according to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and its 2009 "Report to the Nation" survey on fraud, more than 60 percent of all frauds are detected either by a tip or by accident. While internal audit has moved up on the list, there is clearly room for more proactive antifraud programs.

Secondly, is that the demands on IT and internal auditors are increasing and auditors will need to become more efficient to fulfill all of the responsibilities and tasks assigned to them, and having the knowledge on Audit Command Language is one way to do so.

This helps you to reduce the time you use to audit and also enable you to conduct your activities in a most efficient manner.

Using ACL empowers you as an auditor to possibly have a better sense of direction in your audit procedures.

You will be able to perform some audit procedures to gain an understanding of the data (e.g., using PROFILE, STATISTICS commands in ACL). During these procedures,
You will be able to spot an anomaly or red flag
(e.g., negative amounts where there should be none).

The data in ACL are locked down as read-only.

There is no chance for the auditor to inadvertently change the data.

This inadvertent risk is much higher for IT auditors who choose to use a spreadsheet for analyzing and presenting transactions. While one can lock cells or sheets in Microsoft Excel, there is still the possibility of human error. It is almost non-existent in ACL.

Does this sound familiar?
You have a big exam like ATS coming up, so you know it’s time to hit the books.
When you sit to start studying, five minutes later, your phone rings.

You may ask….. does it mean that because I am a MILLENNIAL, so I must be distracted?

SO, HOW CAN YOU AVOID DISTRACTION AND STAY FOCUS WHILE STUDING?
1. Always put your phone on silent mode and place it away from you while studying, don’t even but it vibration mode.

2. Turn off your Internet access…. Did I hear say “NO” .
Well, it is just an advice so that you can pass your exam.

3. Ask people (Your spouse, children or friends) to give you privacy or better still, look for a private place of study or maybe use the library.

5. When you notice any form of distraction; admit it,
say out loud “this is a distraction” and take a deep breath and stop the distraction.
This will help your subconscious mind to define what is a distraction to you
and learn to ignore it.

It’s not your fault that you are very busy at work,
you are actually busy because you are very relevant at work,
so don’t blame yourself that you could not prepare well for the CITN exam.

The big question is……
Is it possible to study and Pass CITN exams even if you have a very busy schedule?
Yes, it is.

Wondering how it is possible?

……You need 1 hour per day for 30 days to finish a paper (inclusive of questions and answers).

……You need 2 hours per day for 30 days to finish 2 papers (inclusive of questions and answers).

You may ask, “how can I spare 1 hour per day”?
These are my suggestions;

• You can wake up very early on a daily basis and study for at least 1 hour before going to work.

• You can study for at least 1 hour before going to bed.

• You can study during your break hour at the office.

• You can spend at least 12 hours studying on Saturday (not at a stretch though).

• You can spend at least 12 hours studying on Sunday (not at a stretch though).

You might feel you still have enough time to prepare for October Diet exam,
but “You may delay, but time will not, and lost time is never found again”— Benjamin Franklin
