7 Days to ATS March. Diet....WILL YOU DO THIS JUST TO PASS ATS March. DIET…… QUIT FACEBOOK?

This short write up is not meant to be a debate, but a request to succeed. You have prepared so hard, what if this is just the last minutes obstacle you need to scale-through.
Also take note that, I am not condemning social media because in this modern age it has become part of our way of life and we may not be able do without it. Infact, If not for social media, you might not see this post…. So you can see that it very important.

So, why should you quit social medial for ATS exams temporarily?
According to Cal Newport, the author of the book DEEP WORK, a Business & Leadership Wall Street Journal Bestseller, he said that Facebook and other social media platforms are design to be ADDICTIVE, as a result, your time will be fragmented, which can reduce your capacity to concentrate.

• …..You noticed that when you wake up in the morning, you will check your social media first.
• …… Before you go to bed, you check your social media last.
• …… Even when you are in the church, mosque or even board meetings, you are tempted to check social media.

Cal Newport mention that Facebook use to hire ‘ATTENTION ENGINEERS’ just to grab our attention and make us stick to Facebook, that is why you see Facebook notification regularly on your phone and on your email.

Back to ATS exams, you need not to allow your attention to be fragmented now, because you need almost full attention and concentration for you to succeed. So, if you are on leave, quit facebook, quit twitter, quit Instagram etc for now and concentrate 100% on your study. Don’t entertain any form of distraction. After the exams, you can resume social media.
If you are not on leave, do the same; quit facebook, quit twitter, quit Instagram, quit snapchat, etc.
Let no other thing ring in your head apart from ATS. Treat your ATTENTION with respect, don’t fragment it.

Distraction has become our everyday way of life,
from phone notification, system notification, website notification,
social media notification, events, daily news, trends and a whole of other things.
The irony is that we have accepted all these as a normal way of life,
so we don’t see anything wrong with it.

You may ask , “Is it possible to remove all forms of distractions during study”?
Maybe yes,
You should always note that there are time and
place for everything and what’s important for you now is
to focus on studying and passing your CITN exams.

Let me show you how to remove all distractions during study;

• IDENTIFY CURRENT DISTRACTION:

List all the things that can distract you
while studying and label them distraction,
so that immediately when they happen, you will be reminded
that is a distraction. For examples, these are list of distractions when I studying;
Phone ringing, text message beeping, music, social media notification popup,
latest news popup, email notification and noise.



• SUSPEND ALL FORM OF DISTRATION UNTIL AFTER YOU FINISH STUDYING

I know that we can be very addicted to our phones,
so I won’t suggest you switch it off during study time,
you can actually put it in silence or vibration.
You can also deactivate notification,
so that you won’t get any app notification at that time.
And lastly, disable your internet during study time.
This is just a price to pay for your CITN exams, why not give it all it takes.
According to Sharon Salzberg, distraction wastes our energy, concentration restores it.

Whenever ATS exam date is getting closer, exam tension/pressure could naturally set in.

Sometimes the pressure of exams may cause stress.
Stress is actually your response to pressure and,
while a small amount of pressure can be useful to keep you focused during exam time,
if it becomes too much, it could hinder your performance.

Exam tension is a normal feeling but you must not let it overwhelm you
because it could hinder your ATS exam success.

If you're experiencing exam tension, just calm down, it’s just an exam.

Believe in yourself and don't worry excessively.

Wondering why I ask?

A student complained that she does not know what to do

It is few days to ATS exams……….. EXAMINATION DATES is Tuesday,
16th & Wednesday, 17th March, 2021.
Nothing dey happen, we go face the exam.

Years ago, few days to ATS exam, one of our students called and asked me that
“What are the areas of concentration as I conclude my last minute preparation? ”

I just replied him that “If you had asked me the same question two months ago,
maybe I would have helped you, but it is late now, just keep solving past questions”


Then he asked another question “since I am writing ATS exam for the first time, what are the do’s and don’t ?”


These are the some of the suggested DO’S and DONT’S few days to ATS exam.

DO’S

• Know your exam center ahead.


• Make a visit to your exam center if you are chanced.


• If your location is far from exam center, Move to a hotel close to your exam center.


• Make sure your calculator and writing materials are in good condition.



DON’T

• Don’t go late to your exam center, lateness could destabilize you.


• Don’t interact with anyone while in the exam hall, this could be passive as malpractice.


These do’s and don’t might seems too basic, but it is better to do the right thing to avoid the “stories that tough”

I know Preparing for exams can be very demanding.
It is one of the situations every student would want to avoid in life if given a choice.
The level of stress experienced in writing exams always increase during the exams period.
This stress could have a negative impact on both our physical and mental health,

DEVELOP A STUDY PLAN:

Most students don’t plan how they’ll prepare for CITN exam.
They just tell themselves that they’ll study as much as possible then hope for the best.
This isn’t a wise approach at all. Preparing for an exam is like taking on an important project.
If I may ask; would you start building a bridge without first coming up with a plan?
Would you just begin construction and “hope for the best”?
I don’t think so...
In a similar way, it’s important to outline, in writing, a strategy for how you’ll get ready for your CITN exams.


HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD CONSIDER AS YOU DEVELOP YOUR PLAN:
• When will I start studying?
• How many hours each day/week will I block out to study?
• Which topics do I need further clarifications on?
• Which assignments will I review?
• How many exams questions will I need to practice in every topic I study?
• How many times will I review my notes and materials?
• What distractions am I likely to face, and how will I overcome them?

With these questions in mind, you will be able to strategize and eliminate every hindering obstacle.
Remember as the saying goes, “Failing to plan is planning to fail.
Don’t leave your preparations to chance, as that might not guarantee you an adequate preparation; make sure you have a plan for this diet CITN exam.

you need to learn how to manage your time, so that you don’t feel tensioned or pressured

Sometimes you feel like you have an infinite amount of time,
but when you check your calendar, you noticed how CIS exam is fast approaching.

The reason you must manage your time this exam period is
so that you can be mentally and emotional organized and prepared.

These are the 4 tips to manage your study time;

1: SET TIME LIMITS
Have you heard of Parkinson’s Law?
According to it, “Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.”
Have you noticed that when you have 2 or more task to complete, if you don’t set time limit for all the task, the first task can even take the whole day….. hope you can relate?
But, it all changes when you set specific time limits for each task.

So for your study time, set time limit.
You can use the countdown timer on your mobile phone to time yourself.
You’ll be amazed how far you will cover a lot of topics within your set time.
