EducationProven Ways To Make Yourself Interested In Reading by starryadmin(op): 8:33am On Apr 23, 2020
To be honest
Sometimes you don’t feel like reading
and for some people it’s even many times,
I remembered when I was in secondary school,
I always wished there was a way I could open up my head and just throw all the books inside.
I know you might have also felt like this at some point
but
Do you know you can actually make reading interesting to yourself?
This what you have to do,
You have to give yourself a reason why you need to study,
If you don’t give yourself a particular reason why you need to study,
you might not be interested In reading.

So the first thing you have to do to make yourself interested in reading is
focus on the outcome and not the struggle.
It’s just like when you want to prepare noodles, you would like ‘orisirisi’ to be in the noodles;
Like carrot, green pepper, onion etc.
When you look at the process it will take for the noodles to get ready, you might be discouraged,
But when you remember how sweet the noodles will taste in your mouth,
Then you will have the eagerness to cook it.

Same thing goes for reading, think of how happy you would be when the result comes out and how happy and proud your parents will be of you.
Think of how you get into the university on time.
This will surely keep you interested and motivated to read your book.

So to keep yourself motivated and interested to read for your WAEC examination,
always concentrate on your achievement and not the pain or struggle.

Let me stop here today.

P.S: Look forward to the next article where I will share with you more helpful tips on how to make yourself interested in reading.
Climbing a mountain like Kilimanjaro it is not easy and can even be uncomfortable but the pleasure comes when you begin to see the view from above.

EducationHow To Improve Your Memory by starryadmin(op): 9:36am On Apr 22, 2020
After studying for hours and you attempt to solve past questions,
Sometimes times you noticed that you can’t remember all you have read.
How would you feel if you can naturally remember lots of things?

“Memory is the diary we all carry about with us” ---Oscar Wilde.
If our memory is like a diary, why can’t we remember everything we memorize or study?

Good memory is needed in order to do well at school.
So, how can you improve your memory?

• ALWAYS TAKE NOTE WHEN STUDYING

On average, humans can remember roughly 7 things at any one time in their working memory.
This means we sometimes need simple strategies either to work around this fact,
or to maximize this limited capacity.
One strategy is to always take note when studying or in the class.
By doing this, you don’t have to store and juggle lots of information in your working memory.
You can store it on a piece of paper and refer to it when we need it.

CAUTION: Taking notes with a pen and paper is usually a better strategy than on an iPad or laptop.

The next point is that,

• ALWAYS TEST YOURSELF

How do you prove that you understand what you have read, if you don’t practice?
Once you have spent time learning a topic, it is helpful to test yourself.
This allows you to think deeply about the topic,
and it also has the added advantage of providing practice for performing under exam pressure.
This is called retrieval practice, sometimes referred to as the Testing Effect.

The more you practice what you have learnt, the more likely that it will become automatic.
Once things are automatic, they take up less space in your working memory,
meaning you can do it on autopilot (like brushing your teeth,
you’ve done it so many times you don’t require much conscious effort to do it).
When preparing for WAEC exams, it is advised to solve at least
10 years past question to test your level of preparedness for the exams.

When you continue to test yourself based on anything you learnt,
it will help improve your memory in terms of assimilation and remembering of things.

I will stop here for today and continue in my next article

EducationCommon Mistakes WAEC Students Make by starryadmin(op): 2:12pm On Apr 20, 2020
It is the dream of every student that is preparing for WAEC (West Africa Examination Council) exams
to write and pass the exam at one sitting because if you fail at the first time attempt,
it means you might have to stay home for an extra one year before you
proceed to the University, though thanks to GCE or NECO exams wish are good

If you must pass WAEC exams at a sitting with ease, then you must avoid these mistakes;

• NEVER WRITE WAEC EXAMS WITHOUT HAVING AND ANSWERING AT LEAST 10 YEARS WAEC PAST QUESTIONS

I know you have WAEC past questions, but how many years’ questions
were you able to practice? And even when you practice the questions,
were you able to get explanation why the right answer is actually the correct answer?
You might say 10 years is too much, well nothing is too much if you are really

EducationAre You Feeling Bored by starryadmin(op): 12:30pm On Apr 20, 2020
A lot of students are already complaining of how this lockdown
is making them to feel bored.
For those that are not feeling bored, I guess they are mainly those
who are working from home.
Does that mean that the lockdown is not the main reason why you are bored
but because you don’t have anything to do?

When sitting around doing nothing we tend to get bored.
A lack of things to do is often the cause.
Whenever you get bored, you should be able to engage in simple activities or
try something new.

Boredom often masks a problem where you want to do a particular activity but
something is preventing you.
The first step to killing boredom is to simply recognize the activity that you
truly want to be doing.
If you are preparing for exams like ICAN, either for this diet or the next,
then you truly need to start revising or start early preparation depending on
when you are writing ICAN.

This is not the time to start entertaining procrastination by believing that you still have more time,
procrastination can cause boredom.
If you are finding it difficult to start studying or revising for your ICAN exams, then try this;

• START BY LEARNING SOMETHING NEW

If you been trying to learn how to use Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint,
SAGE 50, SAGE Pastel Evolution, Tally ERP, Project management and
other skills, you can start with any of them.
This will trigger your interest in revising for your ICAN exams.

• MOTIVATE YOURSELF

You don’t have the motivation to do what you should do that is why you are still feeling bored.
Motivate yourself by listening to motivational messages or give yourself a nice treat.
Motivation will help trigger your interest to start studying.

P.S: If you find yourself consistently bored, this usually means you have a section of time where you don’t have an activity that meets your needs. Add a new goal, challenge or hobby to fill up the time.
If you are writing ICAN exams this diet, then your highest priority complete your revision.

EducationHow To Reduce Distraction During Your ICAN Exam Revision Time (part 3) by starryadmin(op): 9:31am On Apr 17, 2020
I got over 300 replies of ICAN students who read the part 2 of this article, they agree to stay of social media until after ICAN Nov diet exam.

Are you in too? ……. No carry last ooo, you must pass this ICAN diet.

See the link of part 2 of his article here https://medium.com/@starrygold/how-to-reduce-distraction-during-your-ican-exam-revision-time-part-2-c28d348a6c51

Let’s move to the 3rd point.

3. HAVE A DAILY PLAN FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO, AT WORK, HOME AND DURING YOUR STUDY TIME.

Consider writing down the things that must get completed in order for that day to be productive. You need to write them down so that you can be organized and not be overwhelmed.

Don’t allow any unplanned activity distract your plan easily, except if it is an emergency.

Have you ever noticed that it takes you almost as long to begin a task as it does to actually complete it? Since it takes some time to find the drive to begin, distractions could destroy your productivity in a hurry.

The simple act of beginning to work already takes some time so it’s important to avoid distractions by having a daily To-Do List.

Never let distraction be an obstacle to your success in ICAN exams this diet.

P.S: Silence your phone unless you’re expecting a monumentally important phone call. Close every browser window except the ones that are necessary for the task at hand.

If you work in an office and are working on something important with an impending deadline, kindly ask your co-workers to refrain from interrupting you for an hour or two except in case of emergency.

EducationHow To Prepare To Learn And Assimilate by starryadmin(op): 8:40am On Apr 17, 2020
Have you wondered why students don’t all assimilate at the same rate even
if they were thought at the same time and by the same teacher.
In most cases, it looks like the more intelligent students are the students
who understand an assimilate more, that is why they are performing
excellently well and achieving more academically.

But the truth is that, academic achievement is not based entirely on inborn natural intelligence.
Instead, whether a child achieves or not is dependent on a number of different aspects,
one of which is their attitude and their willingness to put themselves in the
best possible place to learn.

So, is there something you can do as a student to prepare to learn
so that you can understand the topic very well?

1. HAVE A LEARNING GOAL

You can prepare to learn by setting goals for the day ahead.
Goal setting is an effective method for you as a student, it will motivate you
by giving you something to aim for. This will improve your focus,
and help you to have a more positive attitude towards learning.
However, you need to ensure that your goals are challenging but also realistic,
as it can become disheartening if you consistently don’t achieve your aim.

2. IF YOU KNOW THE TOPIC THAT WILL BE TREATED IN THE NEXT CLASS, RESEARCH AND LEARN IT AHEAD.

Back in Secondary School, studying ahead of the class was the secret of our Head-Prefect.
By learning the topic ahead, you will have an insight and overview of what the topic is about.
This is the best foundation of learning, understanding and assimilating in the class.
It also gives you the opportunity to be ahead of your class.

3. SWITCH OFF YOUR MOBILE PHONE

Each day before lessons begin, you should turn off your mobile phones,
as mobile phones can be a huge distraction and hence hinder learning.
Recent research has demonstrated the power that turning off a mobile phone can have,
such that it was found that enforcing a ban on mobile phones in schools
caused a 6.4% improvement in exam results, with this effect being
heightened to 14% amongst struggling students.

P.S: While factors such as natural intelligence can predict how well a student will perform at school to some extent, it is important that we don’t dwell upon them alone.

EducationYou Don’t Have Any Reason To Fail Your CITN Exams This Diet by starryadmin(op): 2:06pm On Apr 16, 2020
The Covid-19 pandemic has paralyzed so many activities across the nation,
no office activities, no going out to our day to day activities,
just for the sake of keeping everyone of us safe.

We are all wondering when all these will be over and
our normal daily life routine restored.
Surely, this will definitely come and go just like many other diseases have come and gone.

But like the popular saying, if you look deep into every given circumstances,
there is always a tiny given opportunity there for you to explore.

Two days ago, one of our students who had earlier decided to skip the
CITN April diet exams due to his busy work schedule,
called and ask how he can take advantage of this lockdown opportunity to get himself ready for the exams.

About three students gave me a call last week expressing how they can make the most of the given opportunity.

If you have earlier decided to skip this diet, you can still make it.

I strongly believe that that no student with a 99% determination and enthusiasm of passing these coming diet CITN exams will have any issue.
Busy schedule is no more an excuse, considering the fact that most of us are at home.
All you just need to do is to simply convert your time into preparing for your CITN exams.

P.S. Remember that this is not the time to start wasting most of your time chating ,
watching TV and doing all sort of things that will not add value to your life and career.
Rather this is the time to start utilizing and maximizing your free days.
After the lockdown is over, you will look at yourself and be proud you actually did.

EducationHow Self-questioning Can Lead To Exam Success by starryadmin(op): 9:28am On Apr 16, 2020
By asking yourself good questions while you are learning something
may be one of the most effective and efficient ways to improve
your understanding of the topic.
This was my approach back in secondary school, after studying a topic,
I do ask myself lots of questions on that topic.
A girl once told me that “I saw you yesterday at the entrance of your house,
you were talking to yourself, hope you are ok”
I was actually asking myself questions and was answering them.

WHAT IS SELF-QUESTIONING?

Self-questioning is an evaluative process that consists in students asking
themselves helpful questions before, during and after learning to check
their understanding of the topic.

WHY DOES SELF-QUESTIONING WORK?

Self-questioning is an effective strategy as it encourages students to
think more deeply about the topic they are studying.
Self-questioning will help you to improve your learning by helping you
focus your attention and interact with the presented information.
This leads to stronger connections, making it easier to retrieve the information at a later date.

P.S: Research has shown self-questioning can be a very powerful learning strategy.

Self-questioning will help you to improve how much you learn,
how quickly you learn and subsequently how well you will perform in your WAEC exams.

Now, let’s move to the next point.

• ANSWER PAST QUESTIONS IN EXAM CONDITIONS

In the same way that a golfer wouldn’t practice for a golf competition by never playing golf,
you shouldn’t study for an exam by never answering a question in exam conditions.
Testing yourself on a question in exam conditions will help you conquer exam pressure.
It also allows you to identify the areas that they have mastered, and those that need
to be re-visited and improved upon.
It will also help you to easily recall the relevant information under pressure
We all know that we often panic and forget information when we are under pressure.
Research evidence indicates that when you replicate the same experiences and
emotions whilst learning something, you are better able to recall it again later on.
So, solve past question by timing yourself based on the allocated time.

In conclusion,
The stress associated with exams will never be fully eradicated.
However, if you have tested yourself under pressure and in timed conditions and
teach someone else the topics you have learnt, you will be very confident
that you will pass the exams.

EducationHow To Work From Home And Also Study Effectively by starryadmin(op): 9:04am On Apr 14, 2020
This article is in response to the complain of some of our CITN students
who are working from home due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic and
are also preparing for CITN exams.

“I thought working from home would be easier than working in the office,
but reverse seems to be the case”

I was so excited to start working from home because it will give me the
opportunity to work, study and have time for my family,
but I am surprise that this is not my reality after 3 days of working from home”

Working from home is not as easy as we assume it to be especially when
you also have to prepare for an exam and also because the kids at now at home too.

You can actually make good use of your time to work, and prepare for exam at home
Try the following;

• HAVE A ROOM WHERE YOU WORK AND STUDY:

Don’t fall for the temptation of working in the sitting room,
the rate of distraction is very high there because of TV, the children and other things.
So it is better to use the bed room or any other extra room for your study to be effective.
Make sure you lock the room, to minimize others from distracting you,
but make sure your family members are aware that you are working and
studying from home, don’t assume that they should know.

HAVE A CONCRETE DAILY SCHEDULE

Plaining a daily schedule seems to be a difficult task to do but
it is the best way to get yourself organized, plan your daily activities and
maximize the use of your time.
While working at home, we always have that impression that we have enough time but
the irony of it is that we waste most of the time on things that are not productive.
Have a specific time you wake up, bath, cook, eat, work, study, go for break and do other things.
Write them on a piece of paper or use your phone by setting alarm for each of the activities.

P.S: If we don’t discipline ourselves on how to study and work at home,
we will end up wasting all the free time we have now.

EducationHow To Check If You Really Understand The Topic You Have Learnt by starryadmin(op): 11:57am On Apr 13, 2020
Have you ever find yourself in a situation such that after you finish studying a topic and
you are well convinced that you understand the topic, but to find out that you didn’t understand
up to 30% after attempting past question?
Or
After finishing an exam syllabus like WAEC, you find out that you could not
answer most questions in the exam hall?

WHAT EXACTLY COULD BE WRONG?

There is a huge gap between being familiar with something and really knowing it.
After learning a topic from the class, is means you are familiar with that topic,
but going extra mile to learn more on your own and solving a lot of past question,
is actually knowing the topic.
So, is there a way to ensure that you don’t fall into this familiarity trap as you prepare and
revise for upcoming WAEC exams?
Yes.
SEE HOW;

For every topic you finish learning, solve up to 5 years past questions on that particular topic.
This will help you to be familiar and understand the different approach
of the questions of that topic.

Solving a lot of past questions alone could guarantee you 50% chance of passing exams like WAEC,
but the challenge most WAEC students come across is that, they have past questions but
don’t understand why the right answer to the question is chosen as the right answer.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO THIS DILEMMA?

EducationHow To Reduce Distraction During Your Ican Exam Revision Time by starryadmin(op): 10:52am On Apr 13, 2020
There are lots of activities that could act as distraction whenever
you are revisiting for the fourth coming ICAN exams,
funny enough some of these distractions might be unavoidable.
But, you can actually minimize distraction.

Most of the time, notifications from electronic devices
(phone, tablet, laptops, desktop and others) only add to the distraction.
In fact, most of us are so used to getting interrupted while studying,
even when there is no notification on our phone, we still check just to be sure.
Seems we have been configured to be distracted…… smile!!!
There are other forms of distractions at work and at home….. we will discuss them all.

These tips may help you to minimize distraction, increase your
focus and assimilation while revising.

1. TURN OFF THE DISTRACTIONS
You may want to turn off all notifications from smartphones and
desktops applications. Consider checking email only four times per day and
handling each inquiry only once.
Controlling your devices and not having that technology control you,
may help reduce distractions and increase your focus and level of assimilation.
You have spent a lot for this exam, so don’t allow anything to deprive you of SUCCESS this diet.
I will stop here and continue in my next article.

P.S: If you want to improve on your focus and level of assimilation while revising,

So let’s continue;

• TURN SILENT MODE ON AND VIBRATE OFF

One of biggest distraction from mobile phone is notification.
While you are trying to understand a difficult topic and you are almost close to
understanding it, if you receive notification from your phone and decided to check it,
by the time you come back to what you were learning, you are likely find it difficult to
understand the topic at that moment.
Phone vibration also cause the same distraction.

• PUT YOUR PHONE IN AIRPLANE MODE

This is my top recommendation for any student who is serious about having

imagine you are taking your seat on an airplane.
Stick airplane mode on and you'll be guaranteed an undisturbed revision session.

EducationDon't Let Negative Thought Pattern Deny You Of Success This Diet. by starryadmin(op): 9:22am On Apr 09, 2020
Sometimes our past failure leaves us with unforgettable bitter memories,
that we don't want to write an exam we have failed in the past.
Whenever you want to write the exam again,
you will just have that strong feeling that you might not pass.

The irony is that when you tried the exam again, you will eventually fail.
You will now be like " I knew it, I was going to fail "
This kind of negative thought pattern could be the reason why you haven't passed ........

Guess you are doubting this, right?
Or it's sounding spiritual to you?
It is actually the reality of life and it has been proven by research.

The first company I worked for , most of the Accountant
in the accounting department wrote and failed ICAN for more than 4 times.
Whenever ICAN result is released, you will ear them say " ma da won lohun, won tun fail me" ... Meaning, don't mind ICAN, they failed me again.

Then you will hear someone else say
" even my best friend wey sabi book self failed ICAN" and
they will all agree that ICAN exam is very difficult to pass, while they await the next diet.

I broke that negative thought pattern when I wrote and
passed ICAN exam, then someone said, "if this small boy fit pass, then I fit pass too"

To my amazement, 2 of them passed the next diet exam and
that was how we all eventually become Chartered Accountants.

You need to start believing that you will pass this diet,
so that you can break every negative thought pattern that has been holding you back,
then put in more effort.

P.S : Failure is just an event that happened to you, you are not the failure.

Put your past behind and start your preparation right NOW.

EducationNot In The Mood To Study For ICAN Exams? by starryadmin(op): 9:34am On Apr 08, 2020
I get lots of mails from ICAN students who complained that they are finding it hard to study for their exams.
One of the ICAN students said that anytime he sits down to read, that is when he will start feeling sleepy and when he stops
reading to do something else, his eyes will be clear.

Another student complained that he always struggle to read, that reading for ICAN exams has become the most difficult task for him and he cannot explain why.

If you find yourself in this situation, you are not alone,
But
You don’t want to remain in the situation if you must pass this NEXT Diet Exams.

The first thing you need to understand about studying is that, waiting for the right mood might result in procrastination and
procrastination could lead to FAILURE.
Just start, even when you don’t feel like.
Like medicine, you just have to use it for you to get well, not because you feel like.

Here are some tips that will help you study more effectively:

START WITH THE EASY TOPICS FIRST:

If you start with the difficult topics, your mood will get
worse after realizing that you wasted a lot of time without finishing anything to the end. The trick is to start with the easy topic in order to convince yourself that you have progressed in a short period of time.

ISOLATE YOURSELF:
Isolate yourself to a calm place, leave your mobile phone, tablet, PC and everything else that could distract you out of the room.
When you do so, you won't find anything to waste time on and you will progress much faster

GLANCE THROUGH THE PAPERS OR TOPICS FIRST:
It is better to glance through the papers quickly before you begin.
When you do so, you will get a sense of achievement
that will put you in a better mood to start studying.
Just read the topic quickly and try to get as much as you can from them,
if you find anything difficult to understand, just skip it.
This first attempt has the goal of improving your mood.

TAKE 5 MINUTES BREAK AFTER EVERY 33 MINUTES OF STUDY:
Take a short break of 5 minutes from studying after studying for 33 minutes and 33 seconds.
According to research, this will keep you refreshed and
prevent you from becoming mentally exhausted.
This will help you to replenish your energy and prevent you from sleeping.

DO AWAY WITH STUDY PACKS AND USE VIDEO LECTURES:

You don’t need 100% to pass ICAN exams,
Starry Gold Comprehensive Video Lectures cover the core areas that will guarantee your success.
This is not to say that the study pack is not good, what I am saying is that the fact that the study pack is voluminous, it could discourage you from reading.
Just like a student mentioned in her email
“Any time I see the study pack, my mood just will just go from good to bad” So, concentrate on the video lectures. After you finish the video lectures at least twice, if you still have time, then add ICAN packs and other materials you have.

P.S: Don’t let your mood dictate when you should study, remember that
ICAN exam does not understand your mood because ICAN exam date won’t change as a result of your mood.
So, take charge of your mood and start studying.

EducationLast Minute Revision Hacks (part 2) by starryadmin(op): 8:49am On Apr 08, 2020
Kindly click here for the part one of this topic https://medium.com/@starrygold/last-minute-revision-hack-f253a79a122a
The next point on Last Minute Revision hack;

• CHANGE YOUR STUDY LOCATION

I remember years back while writing WAEC Economics exam, one of the questions
was ‘Mention 5 characteristic of money’, initially I could remember just 2,
I later remembered that while reading the topic Money,
I was in the library and I changed the initial sit I was using,
then I started remembering the remaining 3 characteristics of Money.
I also remembered that when I went to the bank, I was reciting the whole
characteristic of Money.

You can relate your study location with each topic, if you pay attention to your environment and link what you learn, it will help you to remember the topic.
This is not 100% guaranteed though, but it could help…… Just give it a try.

• READ THINGS ALOUD

Research has shown that there is a 12% increase in remembering what you have read if, when revising, you read information aloud rather reading in silence. This is because reading aloud involves a lot more processing that reading in silence, and the more processing that occurs with information the more likely you are to remember it.
When you’re revising at home, reading aloud after reading silently might make
the different in your exams.

In conclusion,
These simple revision hacks can ensure higher levels of retention and remembering what you have read.

P.S: Every extra mile you go to understand what you have read, will increase your chances of passing your exams.

EducationLast Minute Revision Hack by starryadmin(op): 9:04am On Apr 07, 2020
This last minutes revision could be the deciding factor whether
you will pass WAEC exams or not, sometimes you just feel like the
whole WAEC syllabus should automatically transferred to your memory……..
If that was possible, won’t you be interested?....... Abi who no like better thing?
The question is, “How can you improve your memory and boost your revision
for this last minutes?

So, let’s see the proven strategies will provide a few last-minute
revision hacks to boost your memory and help you pass WAEC exams.

1. EXPLAIN WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNT TO YOURSELF OR TEACH SOMEONE

Research has shown that explaining something to yourself makes you
more likely to remember it, by helping you to create personal connection with the topic.
For example, if you just finish studying the characteristics of living things,
ask yourself, “what are the characteristics of living things?”
While you are explaining each of the characteristics to yourself,
you can use word like MR NIGER D, then explain each like this;
MOVEMENT: Living things can move, that is why I can go to school and come back on a daily basis.
REPRODUCTION: Living things can reproduce, that is reason I am existing today.
This is just an example, you can create yours.

Those additional words that you add will help you engrave the topic to
your memory and you will find it easy to remember them.
You can even convert the definition into a song.
I remember reciting Avogadro’s Law in song, in Yoruba tune………
Avogadro’s law lo so wipe equal volume of all the gases at constant
pressure and temperature contain the same numbers of molecules.
I have not forgotten Avogadro’s law even after 20 years of leaving secondary school.

So, go ahead be creative with your own style and songs for you to remember definitions
and the topic in general.
If you can’t find someone to teach, explaining the material to yourself
will give you a boost.
However, self-explanation can also lead you to look for the simplest solution
which is not always the correct one, so keep an eye on the actual definition
while you’re improving your memory with self-explanation.
I will stop here for now, expect the continuation in my next article.

P.S: Go ahead and start improving your memory and boost your revision by
explaining what you have learnt to yourself or teach someone.

EducationSkill Vs Certificate by starryadmin(op): 11:10am On Apr 06, 2020
There is no point comparing certificate and skill because
they are supposed to complement each other.
The big question is, will your certificate be relevant without the relevant skill?
The answer is CAPITAL NO.

If certificate seems irrelevant without the right skills,
do you still want to wait after you graduate before
you acquire the necessary skill ?

Other countries are already preparing to meet up
with this workplace requirements,
China converted about 600 universities to Polytechnic
so as to reduce too much academic theory that doesn't guarantee jobs.
They want their polytechnics to focus on Engineering and
technology and technical courses.

The workplace in Nigeria is already aligning with this reality too.
Just check recent vacancies to see the requirement that are compulsory.
I have seen a lot of vacancies for Accountant and
they stated that the knowledge of Microsoft Excel is compulsory
while being a Chartered Accountant s just an added advantage.

Just google “Accounting vacancies in Nigeria ”, to confirm my claims.

No company is depending on the knowledge of academic theories to
employ graduates, your skill is what we stand you out.
The workplace is changing and you need to adapt fast.

P.S: I am not saying that your certificate is IRRELEVANT,
it is actually very RELEVANT but acquiring a SKILL
will give you edge in the labour market.

EducationHow To Motivate Yourself To Study In Times Like This by starryadmin(op): 9:20am On Apr 06, 2020
It is actually difficult to study in the midst of this pandemic the world is
currently experiencing. The News you see on almost all TV stations is
always negative because they are mostly about COVID-19.
The thought of the news can send negative thought to your mind.
The negative feeling can discourage you from revising for your ICAN exams.
The iron of everything is that, when this pandemic is over, ICAN will announce the new exam date,
They will not cancel the exam because you were not motivated to study.

So it better to put aside the worries that we face now and focus more on the task ahead,
I know it is not easy but it is very possible.

What do you do when you literally have no motivation to study.

• USE REWARDS AND TREATS TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF

I remember when I was preparing for a professional exam,
I had to buy myself a nice wrist watch for finishing the syllabus in a month.
I actually gave my wife the money to buy me the wrist watch if I succeed,
but if don’t, she can keep the money. I actually passed the exam at one sitting.
Rewards are powerful motivators. They train you to delay gratification in
order to get something important done.
If you’re literally struggling so hard that you can’t make it through one page of reading
without getting distracted, then start with a reward per page.
For example, after finishing a page or 2, buy yourself what you love as a reward.

Something I like about the use of a reward system is that it gives you that first
little kick-start to start studying, which could really increase.
You might force yourself to do that first few minutes of study for a small reward.
Your rewards will kick-start momentum.

The reward needs to be hard to obtain, though. It needs to be something that you will be genuinely proud of achieving.
It also needs to be something that you’re genuinely willing to deny yourself
if you don’t reach the goal. If you just throw in the towel and buy the reward even
if you don’t make it to the goal, then what’s the point?

• WRITE DOWN THE REASONS WHY DOYOU WANT TO STUDY WELL.
Writing down your goals and reasons why you want to study hard can encourage and increase your motivation in finishing your tasks. Post this on the wall of your bedroom or your study area so that you can see and always be reminded of why you are studying hard.
For ICAN exams, write down for PROMTION at work and for a BETTER job offer.

EducationHow To Use Your Phone Effectively During Revision by starryadmin(op): 12:25pm On Apr 03, 2020
Passing your WAEC exams is one of the most important things in your life right now,
I am so sure you want to pass it with ease and at one sitting,
but are you ready to pay the price?

Smart phones are awesome, they have become part of our day to day lives.
But now that it is season of exam, your phone can become a challenge to
your success because the frequent use of your smart phone can
consume the vast majority of your time that is supposed to be used for revision.
In fact, the use of phone has become a habit and routine.
You wake up in the morning to check your phone first,
you are always on your phone before you go to bed,
sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night to check your notification.
The use of phone has become an addiction.

Now, let me show you how to use your phone effectively during revision;

If you are 100% ready to pass your WAEC exam, then you must do this….. I’m sure you are?

• GO OFF SOCIAL MEDIA UNTIL AFTER YOUR EXAMS:

I know this sound like almost impossible for you, but like I mentioned earlier,
it is for those who are ready to pass at one sitting with ease.
For now, logout of your Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok and
other social media app, until after your WAEC exam.
If you add up the time you spend on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat,
Instagram, TikTok and other social media app on a daily basis,
the total time will be enough for you to 3 topics a day in a subject.

The reason you need to do go off Social Media for now,
is that it is easier to pass WAEC exam when you are still in school ,
if you fail WAEC now, your chance to pass will start reducing because
you have left school environment.
While not pay the price now, you will not die if you leave social media for now,
This is just a price to pay for your success in your WAEC exams.

ARE YOU READY TO GO OFF SOCIAL MEDIA UNTIL AFTER YOUR WAEC EXAMS?

As you prepare for the recent WAEC exams that has been
postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic,

while revising at home. If you don’t discipline yourself to revise very well,
you might end up cheating yourself by wasting the extra time you have now.

What are the barriers to your effective revision?

• NOT KNOWING WHAT AND HOW TO REVISE

If you as a student is not discipline with the use of phone,
the phone can make you perform up to 20% WORSE.

The reason is because of lots of notification from your phone;
Email, text message, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram,
Snapchat and other application notification are reasons you cheat your revision

EducationEnough Of Motivation ……….self Discipline Will Make You Pass This Diet by starryadmin(op): 2:57pm On Mar 31, 2020
Motivation can help you to be the best you can be if you are really determined.
No matter what you want to achieve in life, it all starts with your desire and motivation.
You need the motivation to take action and to build habits.
But the trend seems to be changing.

We listen to motivational or religious speakers and are charged and energized,
we even had goosebumps, but after getting home,
we just forget everything and continue with our regular life.
While it is true that we cannot solely rely on motivation to reach
our goals and to act on our dreams.

You might have been motivated to start a project, but you eventually abandoned it.
You might have been motivated to write an exam, but you eventually abandoned it.
You might have been motivated to write a book, but you eventually abandoned it.

Does it mean that motivation is no more working for us?
The answer is NO.

Research has shown that nothing can be achieved without Self Discipline.
Self-discipline gives you the power to stick to your decisions and
follow them through, without changing your mind, and is therefore,
one of the important requirements for achieving goals.

If you are really determined to pass this CITN diet, then you must have self-discipline.
According to Warren Buffett, we don’t have to be smarter than the rest; we have to be
more disciplined than the rest.”

The big question is, how will you discipline yourself to pass this diet exam?
I will discourse that in my next article.

P.S: Life puts challenges and problems on the path to success and achievement,
and in order to rise above them, you have to act with perseverance and persistence,
and this of course, requires self-discipline.
