Actor Jimmy Odukoya has encouraged his fans to believe in their dreams and ignore the limitations around them, Igbere TV reports.
Jimmy, who is set to make his Hollywood debut, said this in an Instagram post on Thursday.
Sharing a photo from the movie set, he wrote: “Let no man put limits on your life! Let no one tell you what is possible! Let no one define you by their limitations and fears.
“It is only impossible until it happens! If you can just dare to believe! As a man thinks in his heart, so is he! Some people are planning on how to buy a car while Elon musk is thinking of how to build a colony on Mars!!! Impossible is nothing.”
The actor in an Instagram post on November 18 announced that he will be starring in the Hollywood film Woman King.
He has since then shared several photos of himself and his co-stars on set.
Set to premiere on September 22, the movie also features Hollywood stars like Viola Davis and John Boyega, British actor Jordan Bolger and Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo.

Actress Rita Edochie has said that those saying leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu should not be released are sycophants and ‘enemies of this administration’, Igbere TV reports.

Sharing a video of a sermon from spiritual director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, Rita wrote: ok “Free Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu. In an Instagram post on January 7, Rita expressed her disappointment over some Igbos she accused of denying their association with Biafra.
In a video she shared on the social media platform, a woman, whom she referred to as ‘Fulani’, was heard countering claims that she belongs to the ethnic group.
Rita, who did not provide any proof that the woman was actually a northerner, compared her denial to some Igbos who have disassociated themselves from Biafra.
“Have you seen what hunger can cause? She has denied being a Fulani woman because of hunger.
“The same way some of our Igbo brothers and sisters are denying Biafra because of what they stand to benefit today without thinking of what happens tomorrow but the good thing is, their selfishness is affecting all of us,” she wrote.
Singer Peter Okoye has threatened legal actions against some banks, accusing them of aiding internet fraudsters scamming people in his name, Igbere TV reports.
The 40-year-old had earlier lamented the scam done to people in his name, he also warned his fans against paying money into the account of the scammers who he claims opened a bank account in his name.
Angered by the situation, the singer in an Instagram post on Friday, threatened to sue and call out the banks for allowing unverified accounts to be opened using his name.
“Enough is Enough!!! This is 2022. I will soon start calling some banks out! It’s either it’s an inside job or otherwise! I have a name to protect here and save some of this innocent victims! So get ready for me and my legal team!.
“How can banks allow someone to open an account in the name of PETER OKOYE PSQUARE without valid means of identification, no biometrics, no BVN, no verified address or even utility bill to correspond with the address of the account owner. Now they are using my name to scam innocent people! I am Suing these Banks for damages and calling them out soon!” he wrote.
Peter also shared a screenshot of a bank transaction, displaying his name as the owner of the account.

In a series of posts on her Instagram story on Wednesday, the 32-year-old said many people are opening fake pages to troll her over the new achievement even though she did not give all the details about the house.

Actress Victoria Inyama has tackled Pentecostal preacher Funke Felix-Adejumo for her ‘attacking women’, Igbere TV reports.
In an Instagram post on Thursday, the Enugu-born actress criticised the pastor for saying women should always cover their husband’s flaws.
“Madam preacher, almost all your attacks are on women, the fact that you wear the trouser in your marriage doesn’t mean you should keep attacking women. You only talk about what the woman should or should not do. I can’t even place your husband’s face. Are you home long enough to do all you preach? Cause I see you in different countries most times.
“Marriage is a union between ‘2’ people, there’s no perfect, I would love to see your husband preach about you If he ever does and stop enabling abuse, only bad behaviour needs to be hidden,” she wrote.

Leke Adeboye, son of the general overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Tuesday clocked 10 years in marriage to Titilope, Igbere TV reports.

Oye Kyme the former personal assistant to crossdresser Bobsrisky has said that the allegations the latter made against actress Tonto Dikeh are false, Igbere TV reports.
Bobrisky had on Friday, December 17 alleged that Tonto asked him for the sum of N5million.

Afrobeat singer Brymo has made his acting on the set of Death and The King’s Horseman, the movie adaptation of Wole Soyinka’s book, Igbere TV reports.
The 35-year-old recently shared photos of himself filming with actor Deyemi Okanlowon on Twitter.

Filmmaker Mo Abudu had earlier announced the commencement of the screen adaptation.

He has starred in multiple movies including Occultic Altar, Occultic Mission, Occultic Battle, Family Battle, Up North and Living in Bondage: Breaking Free.

Singer Banky W has reacted to a Federal High Court’s declaration that it was unconstitutional for the federal government to conduct marriages, declaring as illegal and invalid, all solemnisation of unions at the Ikoyi marriage registry, Lagos, Igbere TV reports.
The singer reached out to his wife Adesua Etomi on Monday, drawing her attention to the new development.
Igbere TV reports that the court presided over by Justice D. E. Osiagor, also held that only the local government marriage registries are empowered to do such by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
He submitted that the conduct of marriages and issuance of certificates were statutorily the job of the local governments as provided by the law.
The judge added that the acts of the federal government through the Ministry of Interior, operating marriage registries was beyond their powers and all marriages conducted by federal marriage registries or through their agents were illegal and invalid.
The Students' Union executive of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has been suspended and a care-taker committee is to be put in place.
This was disclosed by Public Relations Officer of the University, Benedicta Ehanire, Ph.D, in a statement made available to CAMPUS GIST on Tuesday.
She said the Institution’s Senate took the action to forestall a breakdown of law and order following the planned instigated protest by the Students Union body in reaction to the shift in the school’s academic calendar.
CAMPUS GIST recalls that there has been series of agitation amongst students following a shift in the Academic Calendar to accommodate the National Sports Festival taking place in Edo State from April 2, which the Institution is camping the athletes.
Meanwhile, the University management accused the suspended Union of persistently engaging in “subversive activities including incitement of other students to disobey lawful instructions by the school authorities.”
“This is in spite of concerted efforts by the Management, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami, to provide their basic needs of water and electricity as well as enhanced infrastructure for learning.
“Consequently, the account of the Union has been suspended and their Secretariat, sealed,” the statement added.
Ehanire said all members of the erstwhile students' Union executives are to hand over their Students' Union Identity Cards to the Chief Security Officer of the University immediately.
“They are also to vacate the privileged hostel accommodations accorded them latest 6:00pm today, Tuesday 30th March, 2021.”
Over the weekend, a video went viral purportedly showing a lecturer of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) with a gun to invigilate students sitting for the ongoing first semester examinations of the school.
According to the Instagram blog where the news originated from, the lecturer arrived the exam hall in the Faculty of Physical Sciences to invigilate an exam with the gun which made students revolt.
The video which was first published on Saturday on the Instagram blog (not on CAMPUS GIST) has since garnered over 591, 188 views, 59, 940 likes and 6, 085 comments as at late Tuesday afternoon.
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), a federal higher institution of learning, is located in the heart of Ugbowo, in Benin City, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, South South, Nigeria.
Meanwhile, checks by CAMPUS GIST shows that the news is FAKE as the video had been doctored and manipulated to make it appear real as if the man was indeed a lecturer at UNIBEN.
But independent findings by this online medium revealed that the man in the viral video is not a lecturer but a security personnel going about a “special assignment” outside the examination hall.
According to an eyewitness and a student in the faculty of Physical Sciences, the students had mistaken the security officer for a lecturer thereby denying him presence around the faculty premises.
In a chat with CAMPUS GIST, Monday, the Faculty Governor, Christopher Osahon Edevbaro, while debunking the viral video, asked the students to help report the publisher for misinformation and fake news.
He said the video was “doctored to serve the misinformersʼ agenda”, insisting that the man in the video is not a lecturer but a security officer who appeared on mufti, going about a special assignment outside the examination hall.
“We therefore condemn this act of junk journalism and misinformation from Instablog and implore the channel to delete the said video and desist from spreading misinformation as the said video has affected the students' community negatively.
“We also implore our students to help report the said VIDEO to Instagram for FAKE NEWS and not to have anything to do with Instablog and its associates or agents,” the Faculty Governor, Christopher Osahon Edevbaro, added.
On his part, a member of the UNIBEN Students' Union Government (SUG), who craved anonymity, told CAMPUS GIST that the man in the viral video was a security officer and not a lecturer.
“We have done our findings, and we came to discover that the man in question is a security officer and not a lecturer as alleged. It was just a little misunderstanding which has since been handled,” he said.
The Public Relations Officer of the University, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, could not be immediately reached for comment. A close source in her office told CAMPUS GIST that the veteran broadcaster was out on an official assignment as at that time.
CONCLUSION:
No UNIBEN lecturer carried a gun into the exam hall to invigilate or intimidate students sitting for the ongoing first semester examinations of the school as alleged in some quarters. The news is fake and should therefore be disregarded.
Reactions have been pouring in over the appointment of Mr Ademola Bobola as the substantive Registrar and Secretary to Council of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), in Benin City, Edo State.
Some staff, students and alumni who spoke with CAMPUS GIST on Friday applauded the interview panel, consisting mainly of external persons and the University community for appointing a candidate based on merit, judging by Mr Bobola's rich profile.
They said the appointment underscores the fact that the University of Benin is a federal Institution.
One of them, Oghenekevbe Christian, a student, said, “Who else do you think is fit for the job or more qualified than Mr. Bobola? A man with vast experience as a two time registrar in two different higher institutions.”
Another student, Mr. Omoruyi Uhurebor added his voice: “Experience is what matters when it comes to Registrar position. Bobola has what it takes to deliver on the job and move the great Uniben forward. We are talking about a former deputy Registrar at FUTA, pioneer Registrar of a private University and current Registrar at a Federal Poly.”
An alumnus, David Peter Eze, said he believes Mr. Bobola's appointment is well deserved therefore, the University Governing Council deserves ‘all-round commendation.’
“Mr. Bobola brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. Personally, I must applaud the University for the choice of Mr. Bobola. In fact, Bobola's appointment can be best described as a 'round peg in a round hole',” he said.
Mr. Bobola, whose appointment takes effect from the 1st of April 2021, holds, among other qualifications, a Masters degree in Applied Linguistics from Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom. Mr Bobola is currently the Registrar, Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo state and is a member of several professional bodies.
The interview panel for the last exercise comprised, among others, of the Chairman of the University's Governing Council and external members, the Vice Chancellor, the Federal Character Commissioner, a Registrar from another federal university, and representatives of the University's Senate, as well as Congregation.
The Edo state government has announced the full reopening of all schools in the state as the state battles to contain the spread of the second wave of coronavirus.
Although the federal government had earlier given the nod for schools across the country to reopen January 18, following months of coronavirus-imposed lockdown, the Edo government halt the process owing to COVID-19 scare.
However, in a statement made available to CAMPUS GIST Thursday, the state government said all public primary schools in the state are to resume full activities on Monday 1st February 2021.
”Parents are expected to make their children and wards ready for resumption on this date,” the statement added.
Government warned striking teachers in the state to resume academic activities as the state government would withhold salaries of teachers who violate the order.
“The Board wishes to reemphasize that all public school teachers and head teachers are required to be present in their various schools,” he said.
“Failure to resume work would be considered forfeiture of salary as the Edo State Government has activated the No Work, No Pay policy.
“Head Teachers and Teachers who are desirous of staying away from work in support of the sponsored strike action by certain elements of the Edo State Branch of the National Union of Teachers, are required to hand over all school property in their custody to their respective Education Secretaries.
“The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is collaborating with the relevant security agencies to ensure the protection of all public schools and any willful destruction of government property will be met with criminal prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.”
Edo currently ranks number 7 in the COVID-19 chart list with 3,689 active cases as at Wednesday January 27. Nigeria has a total of 126,160 confirmed cases with 1,544 deaths and 100,365 recoveries.
Following the approval of the Edo state government for schools in the state to resume academic activities February 1, the University of Benin has asked students to return to campus same day .
Schools across the country were shut down for months owing to the coronavirus pandemic coupled with the recently suspended nine-month old ASUU strike which disrupted academic activities.
Although UNIBEN had earlier announced January 30 as resumption date, the Edo government halt the process owing to COVID-19 scare despite the federal government earlier giving the nod for schools to reopen January 18.
In another statement made available to CAMPUS GIST on Tuesday, however, the UNIBEN management announced February 1 as the resumption date for the 2019/2020 academic session.
Endorsed by the University spokesperson, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, the statement directed students to come into the halls of residence on February 1, as lectures, both physical and online, will commence immediately.
Dr. Ehanire said only students with official receipts of payment of school charges, who have successfully filled, submitted and printed a mandatory on-line questionnaire would be allowed into halls of residence and lecture theatres.
She added that students residing in the school hostels are expected to bring along, at least, five pieces of washable face mask and two 5mls vials of hand sanitisers each.
The spokesperson said staff members and students are to constantly wear their face masks, as the COVID-19 protocols would be strictly enforced by the university.
“The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Lilian Salami, on behalf of management, looks forward to welcoming all students to campus for a more fulfilling academic session,” Ehanire added.
Meanwhile, the University management insists that the earlier announced Academic Calendar remains unchanged as on-line and physical classes will fully commence immediately.
The 2019/2020 academic session first semester is expected to run from February 1 until the 1st of April, 2021, while second semester is billed to commence on April 5, 2021.
